Standing outside the dark, dark woods.

Good luck tomorrow Margaret xx

Sleep fairy’s nicked someone’s mallet and is hitting me over the head with it. Must go before I fall asleep in the middle of a sentence, as it would be rude not to fini … zzzzzzzz

Kettle’s on for those in need of a brew of some kind.

Off to see the Scary Consultant today to find out what bizarre news he has for me this time. Can I borrow the map and compass?

Hi Ann, Good luck. It may not be scary news at all, could be excellent news. We will light all the lamps and be waiting to guide you back to the campfire, Jingling Merkin or the catering tent on your return. Fingers crossed all news is positive xx

Good luck Ann, thinking of you.

Morning my fellow Breast Angels,

Am now well & truly in the woods, am the one with the flushed face sat with the ginger ale & cola cubes on the log.

Good luck to everyone having chemo/results today, am sending good luck fairy to you all.

Love Sarah.xxx

Morning Sarah,

Is there room on the log for me? I’ll join you in the ginger ale but think I’ll stick with sherbert lemons. And I promise to try not to drop hairs in your glass!

MargaretX X X

Hi, Any room for a little one? Don’t mind perching on the end of the log. Feel like a fraud for hanging out in the woods when I’m not having chemo, but I’m still waiting - for re-excision now and then results and then clear margins and then rads). Mind if I do my waiting here?

I’ll supply sherbet lemons or cola cubes but I must say I am quite partial to sasparella tablets (was that just a northeastern thing or did other people have them too) x

::the sound of someone hacking their way through the undergrowth approaches::

Phew, what a relief! Consultant says it’s bigger than the sonographer reckoned, definitely (grr) - about 4cm - but it hasn’t spread! Lymph nodes are clear!!

::wild dancing-about commences::

amazing what we find to celebrate, really, isn’t it!

Yay, this is one time when a few millimetres here and there doesn’t matter, not having spread is fantastic news. You have already got rid of it so whatever size it wasn’t is history. Now you are on the way forward to making sure it never comes back again. Well done!

Let the dancing and celebrations begin!! Great news, I’m so pleased for you!

Sherbet lemon, cup of tea or something stronger in the Jingling Merkin? xx

Brilliant news! What a busy little clearnodes fairy we have in these woods!

Hi all, those who have had surgery all ready and particularly anyone who has had nodes taken out, there is a lady called Hatty on the self-employment thread worrying about how much movement she will have after a node clearance. Anyone who is feeling OK and mobile post surgery, can you pop in and reassure her? I already have but I think any positive stories, she would appreciate hearing x

Great news!

I think the worst bit of the woods is the Waiting Swamp. Unfortunately this lies across the main path and has a nasty habit of suddenly appearing just when you think you see a nice sunlit glade, or at least a decent path through one of the dark overgrown tangles. But the only way through is through, dspite the lurking beasties in the swamp.

I’m just scouting ahead for the next clearing with a convenient log in it, and I’ll give any delinquent fairies a good talking-to in my best teacher’s voice, before heading back to the therapy tent.

Cheryl

Hi all,

brilliant news Amber. so pleased for you

MaryGrace, always room on my log & sherbert lemons & cola cubes are always welcome.

Someone please send the getridofflushedface fairy else there will be no need for torches tonight in our woods as i will be your very own shining beacon.

Every time I read you lot going on about logs makes me chuckle, considering what it’s a euphemism for in my darling son’s vocabulary! I sure as hell wouldn’t want to SIT on one, though I’ve trodden in a few while taking the dog out…

Slept pretty well, other than cat lying on my stomach and 14-yr-old coming in in the middle of the night for a cuddle and staying there. Poor thing’s finding it a bit tough, so had a brief chat with my GP today about her.

Well, well, well, what a busy day I’ve had, well and truly OUT of the limbo swamp and someone must have tipped a bumper bag of information dust all over me!

Surgeon’s sec is very nice and has been on the phone a couple of times, just to confirm dates for appointments and that kind of thing. She has also ensured that my onc appointment will be before OH has his heart op, so the darling man gets to hear from the expert the sort of crap I’ll be going through when he’s out the other side of HIS treatment.

Seeing surgeon on 14th, then onc on 16th, so will get some dates for next step.

Spoke to GP as well re fitting portacath so she’s going full steam ahead to arrange that (lovely lady!), have had dental hygienist visit today, and a massage (did them in the wrong order, silly me, but it was wonderful and I floated for a good hour afterwards) and am meeting Marjay who I know from before for a coffee this afternoon.

Also made further arrangments for OH’s kids and dog while he’s in surgery and just generally trying to get “stuff” sorted out.

BePrepared is helping me get everything ready for the onslaught, and BringItOn is being very patient and letting me scurry around being busy rather than pushing me and being bolshey.

I’m actually feeling fairly positive, but that’s because the bucket’s still firmly in place and I think someone must’ve put some glue in with the sand because it’s not falling out even though I’m running around like a demented lunatic. (What’s changed from usual? I hear you cry.) Blimey, if I’m like this now, what on earth will I be like if they give me steroids!!!

Hi Choccie,

Watch out for that kind of log, there may be a few lying around in the woods too with all the gremlins and critters we have around (although I am sure fairies are far too refined and must have some magical system in place)!

Glad everything is moving along and Keepingbusy and Gettingsorted are helping out. I have temporarily returned to work and as I’m pretty flexible any ways am getting on with doing things which aren’t too onerous to pass the time. When they said 24th Feb for the re-excision it felt like miles away but its almost the weekend again and next week is wall to wall with pre-op (again! Haven’t I just had one, what can change in two weeks that they don’t already know about?), work things and coffee with various lovely ladies from on here plus a colleague with bc who is having FEC6 and looking and feeling great. At least the arrangements for second op are more routine (sister coming back and repeating the process of last time re kids and springing me from jail).

Hope all campers are having a good day xx

Hello All,
Feccers: your lashings of ginger beer is just what is needed. Can we ask for a prescription? Post chemo glow should subside once the steroid gnomes go home. They do a very important job but their having around can be a nuisance. I will seek out some mushrooms as these are good for building up immunity. Hope the side effects gremlins stay away: I set some traps for them earlier.
Anne: such good news re nodes. Results fairy is well and truly casting her magic this week. Let the wild rumpus begin! LIF: can you please send me the getupandgofairy she hasn’t made it over to this bit of the woods yet and I could do with some of her magic.
Sue
