I was diagnosed last week after finding a lump in my left breast. I have a 15 mm idc tumour and a large are of dcis, HER2 positive, couldn’t see any lymph node involvement from US, but that could change :-(. I am booked in for full mastectomy with SNB in 2 weeks, then 4 months of chemotherapy possibly radio therapy, couldnt remember much more after that apart from can’t have any form of reconstruction until all treatment finished! Feeling really down and apprehensive today, surgeon also said it is aggressive which is adding to my worries - any advice would be greatly appreciated. Much love x
Hello and welcome to the lovely forum that no one would choose to be on but where you will get loads of help and support from the wonderful ladies who are on or have finished their journey with bc active treatment.
There is so much to take in and our brains will not let us take everything in all at once so dont try, take small steps will get you through this.
Treatment for bc is very good and your treatment plan will be tailored exactly for you. If you go on to the Going Through treatment section whenever you are ready you will find the ladies who are going through chemo and will be able to get loads of info and support from them at the appropriate time. but generally on there you will come in contact with other ladies who have had or going to have an mastectomy and will be able to give you advise on what you will need for your op and afterwards.
Sending you a hug and always remember we are here for you whenever you need us whether it is questions, rant, rave, cry .
As Helena & Charys say, Sharmer.
And just to point out, as your bc is her+, there is now very effective targetted treatment for this & no doubt, other ladies with a her+ diagnosis will be along to advise & offer support.

Thank you for your lovely prompt replies. I am a very fit young 51 year old and had my menopause 5 years ago, I am a single parent with 3 beautiful girls, youngest being 12, I’ve not been able to tell her yet ? These next 2.5 weeks are going to be torture! I just want to get on with the treatment, does anybody know how soon you start the chemo? Many thanks x
Hi sharmer
Hello how are you doing ? I just wanted to send a quick message to say I have a similar diagnosis to you. 20mm lump, no nodes her2 positive, hormone negative / I had a single mastectomy end of Feb and ive just completed my 4th round of chemo, 2 more to go then a year of Herceptin - I just wanted you to know the chemo is tough but doable, the mastectomy was easier than I imagined but I didht have reconstruction. you will get through this and come out the other side - I’m here if you want to ask any questions - thinking of you xxx
Hi alieck
Good to hear you’ve nearly reached the end and and good to know there’s light at the end of the tunnel / I’m just about to have my 5th chemo / did you have FEC-t too ? Xx
Thanks everyone and lilneez hope your are doing well, I can’t have reconstruction until all my treatment is finished, will cross that bride when I come to it. The mastectomy side is not my main concern really it’s definitely the chemo - hair loss etc etc. Just got an appt through for echo, presume before I start herceptin, but don’t know when that will be? I am now worried about the echo in case I have something wrong with my heart that stops me having herceptin!!! Nothing is ever simple ? Much love to all x
