Hello everyone, this is my first post, I was dx on 11th Jan 2011 with a grade 3 bc. Had a WLI & SNB. Results shows no spread to nodes, but because of the grade I have to have 6FEC followed by rad & hormone theropy, but thank god no Herseptin!!I had my first FEC on 3 March, which wasnt as bad I had imagined, waited for se to happen but nothing too bad til last sunday when my temp hit the magic 37.5. After a call to the unit I ended up in A&E for 7 hours only to be told I was going no where as my wbc was almost nil. Ended up in hospital for three days on IV antibiotics & too many needles to remember(my veins are really small & kept hiding)My count went back up so was allowed home after being told my next dose would have to be delayed. I live on my own so this has been a really hard time, & all I wont to do is get this over asap. Then to make things worse my hair started to fall out the day I came home, so decided to take control & shaved it off myself, omg so hard to do with a bic & two mirrors.Have anybody else felt like me that this was harder than being told you have the C word?Would love to hear if anyone else has had this happen to them.Lots to luck to you all xx
Hi I had my first dose on Tues 15th on 4 x Epirubicin? then 3 weeks radiotherapy then 4 x CMF. Must say have not been too bad with side effects felt sickly on Wed Thurs but better by Friday. Went and got wig on Friday as well!! Looks OK! Have woken up this morning though with really sore throat but temp ok should I take it again later or just once a day as hosp said??? Have been reading posts on here and everyone is so positive it is nice to be involved with others going through same thing.
Hi crazylesley
Like you I had the first of my 6 FECs on 3rd March. I had my head shaved to a number 1 the day after starting chemo, and it is now just starting to come out. The downstairs carpet is departing a bit more quickly!
I too had a dramatic high temperature episode, yesterday, and ended up in A&E with a temperature of 38.6 and throat infection. My infection is viral rather than bacterial though (so no antibiotics) and luckily my temperature dropped and they allowed me home. My white blood count was very low, but that’s to be expected.
You might want to wander over to this thread…

Hey Lesley, am so with you on this!
I had my first FEC on 23rd Feb, tyough I was doing marvellously well and then like you, my temperature went up, felt like I had bad flu and ended up with low WBC and on IV anti biotics for 4 days. I have also had my chemo delayed by a week. I’m just hoping that the infection has gone (am still on oral anti b’s) and that WBC stays up for the next chemo. I just want to get on with it and get it over with asap.
My hair started to come out while I was in hospital, came home on Tuesday and shaved it off on Wednesday. The anticipation really was much worse for me and I don’t feel too bad being bald. Just wearing a lot more eye make up to feel more feminine. My son, who though he’d be upset seeing me with no hair is so cool about it. I’m also cool about it, his mates came round and they’ve seen me bald and said it suits me, bless them!
I’ve got a lovely wig- my mum said it looks better than my real hair, thanks mum!
I wore my wig to work yesterday and one of my colleagues said oh you’ve had your hair done again. I had to spoil it and say no, it’s my wig and then proceeded to show her my bald head. Why did I do that??? I guess I find it hard to take compliments, I’m the type that if someone says, oh that’s nice top, I’ll say thanks,it was only £5 from Primark!

Hiya, glad to hear from you all. I feel much better now after my trip to hospital. Just a bit scared of mixing with people incase it happens again. Really wont to get back to work asap, but think I might be better waiting till the doc gives me the ok!Have been wearing my nhs wig all the time, but it makes my head really hot, god help us all when the weather gets hotter!!Also ordered myself a really nice wig yesterday, cost a fortune but at least I will be saving on hair products over the next few months:).See the oncologist on wed, which have been my seconf fec, so will let you know how I get on. Enjoy the sunshine everyone Lesley xx
