I start mine on Thursday (2nd Oct). I’m having 15 to my right breast and 5 to my left. Also to the lymph nodes behind my sternum and right collarbone. I’m hoping it’s a breeze compared to chemo!
I’ve been told to moisturise well and keep hydrated x
@teedee thanks for your reply. Mine starting 9th just the 5 days . Ive treated myself to some moogoo udder cream recommended by lots ladies on here. Wishing you well with your treatment. ![]()
I started mine today. 9 sessions, 5 whole breast + 4 boosts
It was ok - odd but ok. It took more time to set me up. I was quite emotional but that along with being exhausted from letrozole is the new me it seems.
I also have the moogoo cream
@circleoflife @teedee wishing you both week for your treatment xx
@Fluffydog234. It took ages at the planning one and the room was absolutely freezing . Hoping your treatment goes well. ![]()
I wasn’t cold, I was a bit worried I’d be cold as it was so cold when I had my ct planning. Mine is to the right breast so no breath hold to worry about - might be quicker?
I don’t know why but I had imagined I’d be in a room with a door closed but it was a walk round the corner, no closed door. Far less daunting than I thought it would be.
Best wishes to both of you. And I can recommend MooGoo! X
Well, I am now having to have 15 to each side, as my oncologist had a rethink. It’s at the same appointment, and they just do one after the other. My first appointment was an hour, the second one was 45 mins. It’s a very long time to lie still! Plus I have to do lots of breath holds. But aside from the aching arms/shoulders, it is painless, although I have felt nauseous for a couple of hours after each treatment. No other side effects as yet
I’m enjoying the weekend off - but back to it again tomorrow x
@teedee thanks and wishing you the best too. ![]()
Another starting on Thursday 9th. I didn’t enjoy the planning appointment very much, being surrounded by three people calling out numbers and then my claustrophobia kicked in when the machine started.
I’m also unhappy with the blue tattoos. I have far from perfect skin but was quite shocked how obvious they are. Also why blue!!!
I’ve also just started tamoxifen in the past week so all feeling a bit overwhelming.
I’m going for my first session at 8.15 and aiming to work after but will just have to see how it impacts. I’ll have the interruption of the weekend so will finish on 15th.
Hope everyone else’s sessions go well. It’s hard entering another stage but for me feels like there wasn’t much choice not to have this treatment. Just hoping it works x
Hi @factor50 thats exactly same dates as me . We can compare notes. Mine all different times . My tattoos are black and tiny smaller than natural freckles . ![]()
@teedee good luck tomorrow. ![]()
Hope tomorrow goes well for you too ![]()

@circleoflife @factor50
Best wishes with your first treatment, today. It might feel a bit overwhelming on your first visit, but it’ll be fine. I’m going for my 6th today & all ok, so far - other than it taking so long! But I am having four different zaps each day (right breast, right clavicle nodes, sternum nodes & left breast) so, one treatment should only take 10-15 mins.
Keep moisturising! X
Thank you @teedee
@factor50 @teedee hi ladies hope its going ok. Mine was ok was surprised to have to do the breath holds as mine the right breast. Shoulders bit achey today but not too bad . Ive been putting moogoo on loads and skin aeems ok up to now though bit prickly feeling and under scar where its still lumpy bit harder . All in all ok though. Round 2 today . Hope its going ok for you both and everyone else . ![]()

My shoulders ached more after the first time, since then, they’ve been much better. I have to do lots of breath holds - for right and left side. Perhaps they’ve found that it’s protective of both? Who knows? I’ll just keep doing as I’m told!
Hope today goes well for everyone x
Morning both. Hope any aches and pains are short lived. First one done for me, back again late this afternoon. No instructions apart from sit on here and take arms out of gown. My whole experience of radiotherapy has felt incredibly impersonal. Lots of shouting of numbers again and then everyone making the dash for the door (would have been nice to know it was about to start) before the alarm going off and the machines buzzing. I had no idea how long I would be laid there but it thankfully was all done in a few long minutes. Odd how the urge to scratch your nose consumes you
My experience yesterday was a medical model of care being experienced at its very finest, so hoping for better today.
I’m working around appointments so also had a really challenging conversation trying to get those changed to start or end of day, which didn’t help my stress levels (although my irritability score is likely peaking with the HRT being stopped and tamoxifen starting)![]()
So far no real issues apart from a hot boob initially, I was given a large tube of flamigel to use 3x day. I know the effects can take weeks to months to emerge, just like the meds, so I’m counting these sessions off, trying to take each day as it comes, keeping everything crossed and trying not to lose myself along the way.
Hi the staff in mine were lovely explained everything in detail. Wasnt given any cream they said if needed they will give it in a few days. There was free tea coffee an biscuits for everyone and the person with them.
I was sore through night but nothing too bad .
Im in the process off weaning off hrt so know what you mean . Im tempted to ask for something else for flushes but dont want to risk side effects from that .
Hope todays session ok for everyone sending lots of positivity.

Happy Friday everyone. Session 2 done. Much quicker set up today. Feeling fatigued but that may be down to a long week at work and breast is definitely feeling a bit more sore and heavy afterwards.
Still questioning if I’m doing the right thing and wondering if I should have researched further before starting all this treatment, I’ve just said yes to everything which is most unlike me.
Hope everyone has a good weekend ![]()
