starting a support group

Hi everyone
I have so many lovely friends , but they are all healthy and working . I feel so alone like im an alien at times . I live in the poole area in Dorset, i have treatment at poole hospital in the dcc wad , they are really lovely in there , but i have asked so many times if they have a support group and they can never give me an answere , yes we used to but it didn,t take off or i will look into it for you , and i am still waiting . All i want is a coffee morning with a group of ladies like me with advanced cancer. I will even set one up at my home if i could get some ladies from the poole area to come , anyone out there ? lots of love x

Sadly i am not near you but it sounds like a great idea - and think it would be good for everyone near you to meet and share…laugh and cry!!! or whatever …anyone in brighton and hove feel the same???

hi all,
I’m from Gloucester and we’ve stared a support group, we’ve had 2 meet up so far and going really well. We meet up once a month in a pub and have drinks. We stared with 4 of us last month this month 5 of us, hopefully more next month.

We have a chat about each other, were all at differant stages so it is very helpful.

were here to help you

Hi there Carol,

Found a person finally who lives close by! Hope all is well with you today

I know exactly what you mean about feeling isolated. Although I don’t have cancer, my family has suffered a huge number of losses, but in the last 18 months I have been supporting my sister (she’s 34 I’m 32) through secondary breast cancer, and recently I’ve been told I have the BRCA 1 gene.

My family and friends are great but feel like I’m in a bubble, my job keeps me moving from one day to the next, but I have been looking for new people/ friends who I can relate to and share experinces, support and lots of tea!

As my sister says it’s like being in a club you don’t wanna be part of, but have no choice.

Would be great to hear from you
Sarah x
