ear seems much better, this is my 2nd day with no pain killers and i have finished the course of antibiotics prescribed. it’s still irritating but i don’t feel the need for pain killers so i’m hoping this means it’s almost better.
re: hair.
well the hair on my head seems as normal as ever. however, i’ve only washed it once a week in Simple shampoo and not touched it since. luckily for me i have naturally curly hair so i just whack a bit of mousse on and i’m set for the week. dunno how i’m managing to leave it for a whole week but i know i have to if i have any chance of keeping some. i often wear the sock thingy they gave me to put underneath my wig & a hat so my hair is always close to my head and keeps me from playing with it. also keeps it all together when sleeping, saves it tugging on the pillow. it came off in the night last night and there wasn’t a single hair on my pillow so it seems to be doing ok. i did lose alot when i washed it last Thurs but it doesn’t seem to be much more than i normally lose when washing hair. that extra bit i put down to what i’d normally lose when i brush it but as it’s curly i’ve not been brushing it.
LG has been slowly departing since day 12 and i’m on day 15 now. arms, arm pits, legs, eye brows & lashes are still firmly in tact. i’ve tried pulling them away but they don’t wanna come.
don’t want to count my chickens as i know the next time i wash my hair a lot will come away, just have to hope for the best. gonna try hold off till Thursday.
2nd chemo looming, Tues 31st next cycle.
hope you are all well and best of luck to all the ladies starting, it won’t be anywhere near as bad as you are expecting xxx
Lynzi, I think it is good news for you (re hair on head) - I had chemo on a day before you and you don’t have to touch my hair (but of course I do!) to fall out. I am leaving a hair trail like Hansel and Gretchen!
LG is thinning nicely but hair on my legs seems to be intact. Bummer! Girl cannot get a break! I can’t tell about my arm, the hair is simply too short but I am not bothered. Brow and lashes are OK, I would be bothered about THOSE - I think you look like a turtle without brows…!
I am so disgusting - no, not the smelly farts this time! Went to Ikea for a mooch and had the meatballs for lunch, as you do. When leaving the store (did not buy anything) I felt a bit peckish so I had so had one of those cheapie hot dogs. Went over to the adjacent shopping center and lo and behold! There was a KFC there… Yes, you’ve guessed it, I had a 2 piece meal with coleslaw and I demolished the whole thing! Gluttony be thy name! If this continues…
And I totally forgot about my number 4 hair cut and took my hat off in Ikea and was galavanting around sporting my cancer patient look…
Hope you are all not suffering too much!
Popped in from dec thread.
Re: Hair. I found that lg & head hair went, and like Jo gave up shaving legs waiting for it to come out, ended up looking like a yeti and it still didn’t give in! Gave up and shaved me legs Christmas eve, and it has never grown back!
Keep up the good work ladies n hope your se’s are titchy ones!
Thanks Colette for the info on leg hair! I might try shaving it then - it looks horrid at the moment, I’ve stopped shaving it as well back in December…
Just wondering how your first chemo went yesterday, hope the nurses were able to calm your fears. I too was terrified at my first visit but soon realised it wasn’t as bad as my mind had been scaring me into believing. Plus there is so much happening, bloods being taken, forms being filled in and info being given, you soon get get caught up in it all.
I hope your side effects are few and you are feeling well today.
I never thought I was going to get out of there. Had to have another blood test as one count borderline. That took an hour once they finally got some blood out of me. Then after all that I thought to ask if they had prepared the correct cap. My hair was all wet and ready to be put it on. And NO it was the wrong one. B**dy hell. So had to wait for correct one to be cooled. So ended up with cap on for 4 hours!
My veins have suffered from 1st chemo. Think it’s the ‘E’ in FEC that does that. So been advised to have PICC. I couldn’t believe it, the ‘E’ is the red one and I had a break after that for a wee and it was red. Already! Wow.
Now I’m at home keeping my fingers crossed.
Having some trouble with intermittent vertigo (not caused by chemo but a weak point by the looks of it) so trying to sort that out.
The nurses were amazing.
Sorry, this one’s all about me. I can’t think straight and this thread is just galloping! But I really do hope everybody’s OK. We seem to be coping well. And good luck to the newcomers.
Now I’ve got to read the literature I was given about PICCS.
Take care all of you.
Love Dawn X
Anyway. OH picked arrived at 3 after having a funeral.(Life)
Dawnrise, what a kerfuffle! Ladies who had PICC lines fitted all say (except poor Winoclock!) that it makes life a lot easier if you have ‘weak’ veins.
Yes, hope Jules’ juicing went OK…
Deedee - I wonder why would that be? I swear the hair on my leg grows faster than the hair on my head… I will shave it and see what happens…
They have suggested a central line insertion for remainder of treatment…been given a book to read and special shower gel whoohoo got to ring in orning to make appointment to have it fitted OH JOY
other than that feel quite silly now, got myself worked up for feeling like I had had a couple of glasses of wine and sat in a field of nettles lol
hope everyone else is as good as can be expected x x
Good to hear, it went OK, Jules! I expect you will find the PICC line a Godsent if your veins are not very good. Dawnrise will have the same for her next one, I think…
Hey girls back from a lovely relaxing time at the spa. Feeling 100% relaxed and all side effects gone. By the way just spoke to my dear friend who works in the pharmacy at the hospital and she prepared my treatment - she told me the nuelasta injection cost £700! Thank goodness I’m not picking up the tab!
good evening ladies. Hope you’re ok. Feeling much better today Thank goodness.
Jules and dawn I’m glad all went well hope you’re se’s are few and manageable. Sue
Wat a bummer about leg hair looks I’ll have to carry on waxing! Lol. All hair is still growing on my legs arms LG. Underarms got waxed 10 days ago and nothing come thru as yet. Head hair is still ok I’m abit like lynzi lose wen wash but no more than usual. However it is quite itchy last few days. Now i wonder if this is because i need to wash it or if it’s going to fall out? Decided to leave till Friday.
Lizzyship so glad you’re feeling gr8 just take it easy and don’t over do it now you’re feeling ok. Was pretty shocked to hear how much injection costs that is crazy! I guess we’re privileged to have it then! It bloody hurts tho wat a fat needle.
Mmh i think I’ll be looking into picc if same pallava happens wen they take blood on Monday. Can’t believe 2nd dose is coming up next Tues for me aswell, feeling alittle apprehensive from now! Think it is due to incompetent hospital staff from the other night!
Lynzi good to hear you’re ok we’ll have had our 2nd lot this time next week!
Goosey hope your daughter is ok? My youngest had a nose bleed then threw up then decided it was a good time to fill her nappy took ages to get her back to sleep too! The joys of motherhood x
I can’t believe the leg hair thing!! Guess i’ll have to shave them!
Hair still intact (day 12 so still early days!) - not even shedding as much as normal i think? My itchy scalp is one of the things driving me to wash etc as normal!!
Littlest one has bounced back - fine today! just polished off 3 apples!! Mary C - isn’t amazing how much “mess” they can make in a short time!! I am really enjoying getting to spend more time with my lo’s though!
SOC - isn’t it amazing what we can eat! lol! I am eating enough most days to feed a family of 4 - still no weight gain though so guess body needs the fuel for healing!
Good luck tankgirl for today and anyone else getting their first special meds!
Morning all – wow so many posts since I was on here at the end of last week.
Hope everyone is doing well today.
MaryC so sorry to read you had such a scary time a few days ago – glad you are feeling better - big hugs to you. Sorry I’m replying so late to your post re what my hubby thought of his new wife – well he hardly batted an eyelid – so I’m not too sure what that indicates! Although she is still tucked in her box at the moment- (my hair is still hanging in there for now, but scalp becoming quite sore) – I might not be able to resist bringing her out soon as the wig shop lady said she makes me look years younger.
On the topic of hair, or perhaps the lack of it – well done to all of you who have shaved your head this week – it really helps to read about your experiences so a big thank you. Impressive fundraising, Debbie1234.
Lynzi84 – so pleased to read that your infection finally seems to have cleared – wishing you all the best now you are back on track.
Lizzyship – glad you enjoyed your spa day.
Happy belated birthday, Wineoclock, hope you are having a great day in Paris.
Thank you for support and sharing of info to those from other threads.
SEs for me remaining small so far thank goodness – a few spots, mouth and scalp a little sore and hideous constipation at the weekend (thank heavens for Del Monte Prunes!) Completely empathise with you ScaredofChemo – I am constantly starving and seem to spend most of the day opening and closing the kitchen cupboards and fridge door in my quest for food – dread to think what would happen if I was let loose near a row of fast food eateries! Seem to have excaped the wind!
Take care all – all the best for your next juicing.
Hi All, hope you are all well.
Day 13 for me today, no sign of any hair loss, will have to shave the legs soon. Eyebrows look like 2 caterpillars.
Haven’t washed my hair since Saturday (YUK - i usually do it every day)it’s SOOO greasy and is plastered to my head so I am wearing my wig. I have been wearing it all the time to work for about 3 weeks now and am getting used to it.
Apart from a sore arm I am well and have been at work this week.
Appetite has returned to normal and I no longer have to alert Tesco I am on my way.
Next FEC (no2) is Friday 3rd.
Good luck to everyone having chemo this week
Clare x
Had first chemo yesterday, went fine although nurse said i had thin veins but they managed to find one!!found it quite wierd seeing the chemo going down the drip and into my arm…then into my body…but hey it needs to be done.
Felt awful this morning, really really nauseas and very bad headache, checked with the hospital and they said i could take pain killers for the headache which was good.Made myself sick to get rid of the nauseasness…it worked as i felt sooo much better.I am terrible though as i hate feeling sick, would much rather get rid of it!!
Got anti sickness and steroid tablets to take for next 3 days, feel okay-ish now, quite tired though so just chilling.
xx
Angel18- sorry you felt ill this morning hope that doesnt persist for you
booked in for line on valentines day of all days…at least next juicing done on same day did you not get offered the same angel?
Seem to have a weak bladder today. Got my wig lady coming to the house this evening with the final 6 I need to look at before choosing the lucky winner
