Hi getupstandup, thanks for that - I really want to get on with this treatment a.s.a.p and any set back is likely to give me a wobbly.

Moomarr - welcome to the thread. Sorry to hear you are dealing with this for the second time. I am having a port put in on the 29th. I can tell how I ll feel the day after.
Sookie - I had a more detailed heart check as well. They checked the in and output of the heart, as getupstandup said, they want to baseline your heart function. Make sure are fit and healthy before they pump poison inside.
I went to work yesterday with my new (did I mention cheap ) wig. Was great. Most people commented on my new hairstyle, thinking I had a make over! Seriously. It looks way better than my usual semi frizzy / half curly unmanageable hair. Went out socially in the eve, and people I haven’t seen for years complimented me on my hair, some knowing some unknowing re bc.
I would say the wig is a success. Feel totally comfortable, doesn’t move as I feared before - even with wind. I had several request fRom friend for the eBay shop link, as they think of fixing bad hair days
The only thing I have to change is my crewcut. My scalp is very sensitive to touch and the maybe half centimetre hair hurts it when it’s touched/ moved, eg when lying down, or when my children/ husband rub it, coz it feels so nice. Probably properly shave it ASAP. Of those who have shaved, have you really shaved it, or left just a little pelt of hair?
I am due EC2 next Wed, the week after I have an ultrasound to see what’s happened inside and they will set a metal marker inside the tumour. Who else is having this done?
It sounds like the SEs of second chemos are not worse than the first?
Hi Rexi! Glad the wig is a success! Sounds fab!
I kept a detailed diary of my first SEs and am having very similar SEs this time…so far anyway!! It’s only day 3! In fact, I think I feel a bit better this time round as I was really emotional and scared with the first round, kind of waiting for something awful to happen which I think made me feel worse.
Hope it all goes well on Wed.
x
Thanks Sandytoes I want to post some pics, but it doesn’t work from the iPad.
Admin star - I agree tummy to boob sounds like a good usage of years of overeating and pregnancies. It looks like a huge op, but out of all reconstructions I would go for that. I think. I don’t know yet what op will be suggested, so my research has only been platonic.
What I haven’t read yet. Does the tram flap only allow to reconstruct one boob? The ld flap is a cut from below the shoulder blades, that seem to be able to make two boobs. Or are there other reasons? I suppose I can probably find the answer from the relevant forums, I was just wondering.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!
Hi ladies,
We seem to have quite a few in our ‘june’ club now, really gr8 that we can give each other support. I’ve tried to go thru the posts to wish everyone good cancer beating vibes, so here goes so sorry if I miss anyone - brain not gr8!
Rexi - re shaving, I went straight for as close as I could get because it really hurt - touching, sleeping etc. It’s much better, doesn’t hurt at all now. Glad the wig is a winner. Good luck for wed.
Catface - brilliant news, so made up for you. Are you havering fec 2 tuesday?
BerthaB and katie - really hope the se’s aren’t too bad - sending you both a hug.
Jane - welcome, gr8 to have you on board, good luck for thursday. I didn’t have a scan before starting.
Admin star - welcome, again gr8 you’ve found us. Re colouring your hair I read somewhere on a thread about colouring while on chemo. A few ladies were trying herbal products?? Maybe worth reading?
Lorna - really hoping your se’s haven’t got to bad, sore mouth and thrush are the pits. Are they better/worse this time round?
Marie and julie - good luck for monday, fingers crossed all goes well.
Pam - hello, hows the hair? Hope you can hang on to it for weds.once mine started it took only about 4/5 days before it started shredding and hurting!
Moo mar - welcome, echo all the good wishes from everyone. I’m having a PICC line fitted on tuesday - before chemo. Will let you know.
June - how are you doing? hope your recovering well with the anti-biotics.
And last but not least, sandytoes - how are you? Hope the se’s are manageable, you sound positive as always with your posts, keep smiling :o)
Sorry again if I forgot anyone,
Love to all clare xxxx
Hello Ladies,
My legs are smothe and any hairs I now just rub and they fall out.
I could now advertise hair shaving products, bonus.
Admin star - Tum to tit sounds good to me.
Katie how you doing I think you were Friday one day after me ?
Lorna - re sore mouth - I went to the dentist before Chemo and had a clean , I told her what was going on and she recomended the following.
Brush after each meal -
Soft toothbrush and rince with Corsodyl.
Before you go to bed Some stick things with the hairs on to do between the teeth they come in differnt sizes. (Everyone asleep here and do not want to go up to check until later will post you the name)
If you can not bear the brushing cos it is so sore then there is a another Corsodyl for mouth ulsers. At minimum use this after each meal.
I have done this for FEC-1 and then now doing it for FEC-2. The only area I found was a bit tender was the edges of the mouth where I realised the Corsodyl was not going. Started to spit out of the corners. Not elegant but the soreness went after a few day. (and the kids found it funny to watch…)
I hope this helps,
BerthaB
Hi Everyone -hope your weekend is going well, just a quick question-has anybody noticed a difference in their periods since starting chemo?I am 46 and up to now they have been normal and apart from being as bit late whilst waitng for surgery date(which i put down to stress)I have been ok and looking forward to the fact that it was supposed to bring on the menopause and I was unlikely to have many more -however these past two days it has been awful, really heavy ad painful-sorry to ask but you have all had such good advice in the past:)
Good luck Julie and Clare this week(and anybody else going in for chemo-sorry my comp keeps freezing and its taking ages to look back but I am thinking of you all)
Lorna - Hope you feel better I had thrush and mouth ulcers last time -am hoping I don’t get it this time but agree with what BerthaB says re mouthcare
Take care -love and ((((hugs))))-Marie x
Bertha: “Before you go to bed Some stick things with the hairs on to do between the teeth they come in differnt sizes. (Everyone asleep here and do not want to go up to check until later will post you the name)”
They’re TeePees. Much better than floss ATM cos you don’t use them towards the gum so no chance of causing bleeding while you have few platelets. I use them after each meal now, and when the mouth is very sore, toothpaste stings horribly so they’re a godsend for keeping things clean.
Hi Guys - I do all those things apart from i dont use Corsydol, i will change mouthwash today.
I feel sick when i say the word Chemo !!! Day 5 after 2nd FEC and i feel like the energy gremlin is zapping the life from me, so lethargic and down really. I can normally bounce back from stuff , physical or emotional , no the noo thou !!! (not now though) translated from scottish…
Anyway you guys in England enjoy the heatwave and please do not think about the rare fresh air here in Scotland . not to mention the rain !!!
Marie - i am 45 and periods had already stopped for a year , so cant help im afraid.
Keep posting Gals… Sandytoes , hope u get to enjoy the Brighton beach in this weather…xxx
Hi all no sun here very cloudy and misty hope it burns off for the Brighton gals x
Morning everyone
I had my first fec on weds and have been soooooo tired since then. I am wondering when this tiredness will go as I could literally sleep all day and night. Been looking back at older posts and I think most of you are back to feeling normal after a week?? Other than tiredness I think I have been quite lucky with SE
I am going to wash my hair now as I have been putting it off since chemo and what’s the point in keeping onto it if it’s greasy!!!
I’m hoping to turn a corner today and go out with my kids and feel like a normal mum - typical we are getting a heatwave this week and can’t enjoy the sunshine!!
Hope everyone has a lovely day and cat face fantastic news so happy for you!
Katie xx
Morning all!
Marie - I’m not due for another 10 days, so can’t help yet… I’m so nervous about my periods as I desperately want children, but have been told that there is a chance that they could disappear for a few years and then come back again…
Lorna - are you having 3 FEC and 3 TAX? If so, only one more FEC to go…! And TAX doesn’t make you sicky. I know what you mean though - I haven’t been sick, but just feel icky and food holds no pleasure whatsoever, but I’m constantly hungry! The thought of my next 2 AC chemos make me want to gag. I did feel much better after a week last time, so only 3 sleeps to go until I can enjoy my grub again! Hopefully. Having said that, I am still counting my blessings as I honestly thought at the start that it would be a case of having my head in the toilet bowl for the next 3 months. So it’s better than that.
Katie - yeah - the tiredness is a bummer. I do have the luxury of being able to doze and sleep as and when I want to as I’ve now stopped working for the next few months and don’t have any little ones to look after. I’ve decided just to batton down the hatches when I’m feeling like that and rest if my body tells me to (although I do force myself to have a couple of walks with my puppy every day - my BCN said that research has shown that the best cure for chemo-tiredness is 30 minutes of exercise per day. Cario-vascular if posssible! I don’t have the energy for that!!). On day 4, round 1 I slept for 36 hours!! Not feeling that tired today though (day 4, round 2!). Glad you’re not having horrid SEs though.
We have friends coming for brunch today. Was planning a feast of farm sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, ciabatta, fruit salad, fresh orange juice and pastries in the garden. But sun still hasn’t made an appearance yet. Mmmmmm…am so hungry!
Have a lovely Sunday everyone. x
Sandytoes - Sorry the suns not out…the weatherman told me it was lovely there . So far i am having 6 FEC, but that may change if the tumour does not comply !!! Enjoy ure lunch .x
Oh bums!! So more ickyness to come? OK…well a third of the way through then!! Almost halfway! DEFFO speak to them about upping your anti-sickness and anti-nausea next time.
Everyone round to Sandytoes I think!
Hope everyone has the best day they can in all our circumstances.
Not boasting - but the sun has got it’s hat on in Birmingham!
Hi Katie, I’m 5 days ahead of you and yes, you will probably start to feel more normal after around a week. A few days ago I would never have dreamt I could have gone for a short bike ride in the sunshine, but I have just done that and it felt really good. Sounds like you avoided the worst of the sickie feeling, I’m going to ask for some stronger anti-emetics I think.
Wishing all a lovely Sunday, am going hat shopping in Camden Market later. Sue xx
hi girls hope you are all well.Ihad a gerat day yesterday with my friends. We sat outside sipping champers(fizzy wine) and cooking food on the barbie. After much hilarity we chose what wig to keep so will go to hairdresers next week to get it trimmed up.Still holding on to my hair although ti is starting to annoy me as i constantly seem to have bits either in my mouth or up my nose.
LORNA re sore mouth i got toothpaste from my dentist on prescription and have had no mouth problems up to nowi it is called
DURAPHAT 5000 and has a very high flouride content so maybe worth a bash.
Sun not shining here so about to attack the ironing
take care everyone pam
I will look into that Pam… I am feeling better , had a huge sandwich on bacon and actually enjoyed it , despite mouth, OH got the mouthwash and i am dressed and going to take mum to hosp to see dad, though i have been told not to go in in case i pick up bugs!! I worked in a hosp for 20 years so wouldn’t contemplate it , especially the one he is in. Hopefully he will get out soon and i will see him.
The sun is trying here gals…in between the showers.
Cheerio…x
We have lots of sun. Too hot really for me and I don’t like sunburn.
But it’s nice to sit in the shade and look at the garden.
Sounds like most of us are having a decent weekend. We have to get used to this don’t we? Don’t know about you all but it seems likely that my chemo will go on till at least Christmas. Have to find a way to live with it. But at the moment I still get times when I just think this can’t be me.
Rexi - I’m not sure about the tummy tram flap and both breasts. I should think it would be possible but I’m only having one done. It would be easy to get enough fat for about 6 tits out of my tummy!
BerthaB - thanks I am going to try Corsodyl. Funny taste in mouth and hosp gave me Difflam but I don’t like it, it seems to scorch the mouth.
Love to all

hello everyone
brunch at Sandytoes definitely sounded like the place to be today…
mumof3girls - my periods before chemo were regular and only lasted 2 days but after FEC 1 period started a week early and lasted 7 days but no pain and bleeding not heavy.
I used difflam for mouth ulcers and adult bonjela too which was really good as you could just put it on the ulcer.
I have FEC2 on tues and feel move nervous this time than last I supose cos I know what to expect…ignorance in my case was bliss…
Good luck to all having more chemo this week and fingerscrossed for teeny weeny SEs and for others hopefully the SEs will ease up soon.
take care
