ProjectKylie - Really feel for you trying to be upbeat and ‘business as usual’ for your mum, sending you all the best. Are there any other wig places you can try? I tried on about 12 at the specialist place I went to (West Mids), went back again as they’d tried to order one in for me in a better colour, and ended up with one I’m pleased with.
Had chemo Friday. Totally under the weather since. Nausea the worst. Took to my bed most of Friday and Saturday. Having palpitations today. Has anyone else had this. Hope all you girls doing well on this Mothering Sunday.
Thanks Choccy61 useful advice. I have bought a wig darker than my usual colour hoping the colour will distract Mum away from the fact it’s not my hair. I have also had my hair cut into the shortest hair do ever a pixie / crop do. I think I look like Jo Brand now !! No offense Jo. I’ve posted pics to FB group I’ve mentioned before, feel free to join the group. X
It’s 5:08am I’ve been awake for 2 hours and have FEC2 tomorrow at 9. The chemo session isn’t keeping me awake, it’s my head. I feel like I’m laying on a pillow of nettles. I hope the cold cap gives some relief to the prickles later. Have a good day all xx
ProjectKylie - hope the chemo goes well for you today. I have my fingers/toes everything crossed for you.
I’m off to have my bloods and see the onc later today, before PICC line fitting tomorrow morning and chemo Friday. Can’t say it’s the most thrilling week. Nervous about tomorrow, but hopefully it’ll be worth it in the long run.
Been fine this last week or so. Been quite busy around the house and even went on a 2 day course for work last week. It’s been quite nice to be back into a normal routine again. I guess I just have to accept the slowing down in the week after the chemo , knowing that life as usual will return.
Had some pain around my scar from SNB op which I had a month ago and in the breast where the tumour is - anyone else had this?
Hair update - noticing a few here and there, but not a big drop yet. However, legs, underarms and (she whispers) down below is well on the way out. Sorry for sharing
Sleep pattern a bit all over the shop at the minute, but once I get those drugs in me on Friday, sleep won’t be so much of an issue!!
Will update with PICC line info tomorrow.
Just back from onc and bloods. Onc measured my tumour after FEC1 and no change in size. I kind of expected this but she seemed a little surprised. They’re going to stick with FEC for this coming chemo, but then they might switch to Taxotere. Bit concerned about this as from what I’ve read on here, Taxotere is a big step up from FEC. Has this happened to anyone else?
Mel51 - I had my 2nd of 3 FEC100 today and was asking about TAX I’ll have 3 and have been told it’s easier. I’ve no idea how this is measured. I’m no Dr but perhaps your tumour is now less dense or now has less ability to grow ? Don’t be disheartened that it hasn’t shrunk. Chin up, keep smiling and rest x
Thanks ProjectKylie. I’m just going to take each day as it comes. How are you feeling after today?
Fec2 done! 4 to go. After a rough ride last time, today they gave me emend they said it costs £400! It’s only 3 tablets!!) And some other extra tablets and said they would be very surprised if I’m sick. Touch wood I’m ok, just shattered. Didn’t bother with cold cap this time. So much quicker and nicer without it.
Project kylie did you cold cap? X
Hi and good morning, dh, I did have cold cap again I found the cold a relief from my prickly scalp, I had time and I don’t find it particularly uncomfortable. So for me no reason not to. Mel 51, Eitaki I’m fine, thanks to Emend which I was lucky enough to have last time too. It’s 4:17am good old steroids, mind you I was awake this time yesterday too. I have a free duvet day today, I hope you all do too. x
Morning ladies. Hope you’re all tucked up asleep. I’m off to have my PICC line put in so better get a move on. Here’s hoping it all goes to plan - not ooking forward to it.
I have a portacath its fab, no risky leakage for me. It’s like a button in my chest and has been a breeze. x
Lollymum - I’m given Emend prior to chemo and for day 2 and 3. On day 2, 3 & 4 I take 8mg dexamethasone, I also have 10mg metoclopramide if nausea appears. I’ve been nausea and sickness free, yay
Welcome Porkie.
Back home after PICC line being put in. Was quite a simple morning really and the nurses were fab!! Managed to catch a Headstrong session too whilst I was there. Back home with my whea.t bag on my arm -bit awkward at the minute, but I just need to get used to it. Hopefully all will be fine and ready for chemo on Friday.
I can empathise Donnaandfamily. I’ve seriously started shedding today. I’ve had a few stray hairs coming out until today, but wow so much came out today. I am using the cc and will continue when I go in tomorrow for my chemo. It is upsetting, but I’m trying to focus on the bigger picture. I have a wig on standby and lots of scarves, but not sure which root I’ll go down. Not sure if I’ll ever decide just to shave it or if I will persevere until thee d. I guess I’ll know what to do when the time comes.
Morning All,
Haven’t posted since last Saturday (following 2nd FEC on the Friday), the sledgehammer hit Sunday morning!
Felt totally wiped out all week but started to feel myself again yesterday :smileyhappy: So that’s 2 down 4 to go, a 3rd of the way through!
The worst side effect for me this time around was the that my skin felt so sore and bruised, like I’d been beaten up! That lasted Sunday & Monday - has anyone else felt this? I’m not sure whether its because I chose not to take the steroids after the Chemo?
I’ve been keeping up to date with all your posts and notice quite a few (if not all) of us are losing, lost or shaved our hair! So much for the cold cap eh?!?! I shaved my head just over a week ago now but still have my eyebrows and lashes at the mo. Wondering whether round 2 of chemo will get them this time?? I’m armed and ready with the brow pencil and false lashes if it does happen! Lol.
Best wishes to those due round 2 shortly xx
I just googled it and the website will tell you where it is being run nearest to you. It is being run at the hospital where I’m having treatment but the next available date was the 20th May so it seems a popular thing!
Try and book on the ‘look good feel better’ workshops as quickly as you can. Popped into the hospital cancer info centre to book a fortnight ago, and next one I can get on is the middle of August!! They are v popular - my aunt went on before and said it was great. Went on the HeadStrong course today, so have 2 nice scarves and know what to do with them!
Oh Debs, I’m feeling for you, I’m day 5 FEC2 & finding this one easier so far, hopefully you find the second easier too x
Hi all.
On day 3 FEC 2 and lost lots of hair this morning. It was a shock at just how much I lost but onwards and upwards. Need to focus on the end game of getting fighting fit again (which is generally how I feel most of the time!).
Chemo hit me straight away this time. As soon as it went in I started with the nausea and it was terrible all of Friday night. It subsided Satirday, but back a touch today. I’ll speak to my onc when I go back next time. Not sure if it’s down to it being administered faster due to PICC line, but last time I didn’t get the ‘hit’ until day 2 and then it was minimal. Either that or this is down to the cumulative nature of chemo. We’ll see.
Anyway, 2 down and 4 to go - a third of the way!!!
