Crazyleslie, as usual, I’d give the hospital a call. If you are feeling unwell and have shortness of breath it could be an infection. it might not be of course. How’s your iron level ? I am a bit anemic now and feel a bit out of breath sometimes. But if I was you I’d let the docs try an work out what is going on, even if it’s sunday.
TAX3 SEs haven’t kicked in properly yet, I expect them for tomorrow so trying to do what’s urgent. It’s supposed to get really hot today which would be nice. Paddling pool out for kids but the PICC line might stop me from joining in.
phoned the out of hours unit, they told me taje over the counter cough mixture as the temp was ok. Feel crap but sickness feeling gone today. I have not moved from my bed apart from bathroom all day. Hope everyone else is feeling better than me. I might give my gp a ring in the morning to see if I need more antibiotics. Barbwill, no one has ever told me by blood count, so dont know if I need iron. Hope your ses are kind to you. Lesley x

Crazyleslie, I am surprised they don’t tell you your blood count - don’t they write it in your red chemo booklet? - but I guess it means your counts have been all right.
Just been to the doc because I might have oral thrush, not very clear but she’s given me the horrible suspension for it. I feel awful in general, I think this last cycle is going to floor me like never before - I just don’t have any reserves left. The fact that it is the last one is a great consolation though.
Yuk at thrush. It’s horrid isn’t it? This is the first time my taste buds have been affected and I hate it. Sweet is over sweet, and savoury is like rotten cheese :o(
Side effects flew at me this time, and i’m hoping i’m not coming down with something too. I ache and glands hurt, but different from the se’s I get. Both kids have been poorly too this week and i’m day 8 post tax. Great!

Barbwill, I had to have my blood taken yesterday as unit were worried about the cough. My gp was great, his wife had bc 10 years ago, so is very understanding. My chest is fine & my blood count was good, but he has given me more antibiotics just to be on the safe side. The unit have now sent all my noted to the hospital that deals with the rads, but they called me today to check on me, as long as temp ok they are happy its just a bad head cold.With hindsite perhaps the last fec should have been delayed, but its done now.Sorry to hear that you are suffering with your mouth, I havent had that problem, just the horrid taste. I think we are all suffering soo much more this time, I feel like an old lady.If 1 more person says at least its over now, Im going to be up on murder charge!!!Take care everyone Lesley xx

just want to say hi to everyone, seems a lifetime ago tht i started this thread tho people say to me from friends,colleagues, nurses, how quick its gone!!! i wouldnt say that what with thrush in mouth, sore throat hospt but tho i will say i would rather have tax than fec and the thing re nails i am living proof we are all diff cos my nails gone from strengh to stronger and they were good enuf before. even if they go afer tax 3 at least no more chemo, just the 23 rads!!! 15 to whole breast and 8 to where scar is.

Alrightish after a couple of weeks of Tax 2, though envious of those that have finished the whole chemo thing. Still got two more to go, then of course the op and any rads etc etc.
Very oddly, my hair is regrowing! I’ve got about half inch of hair since starting tax.

Hi Amber, me too re hair - had 2 tax (next one tomorrow) and my hair on legs and head have began to grow, got about 1cm on head but nice and dark how bizare cos losing my lashes and brows thinning since on tax, how does that work i ask myself!!!?

Hair came back after 3rd fec and after first tax lost a patch at the front. Brows and lashes went, and new downstairs carpet. Praying the hair will hold on after next, last tax :o/
My hair is also coming back after tax 1 just hope it lasts through 3 more. Amber I am envious too as I still have 3 more tax to get through. It seems to be going on for months and months if you ask me.

I too have had facial hair loss and head hair growth since TAX and I don’t understand it. My head hair is still just a few mm of fluff, it will be ages before I can stop wearing a scarf because my hair grows so slowly.
I am glad chemo is over but feeling terrible so difficult to be upbeat. In fact I’ve just had to stop writing and rush to the toilet with the runs, never had them before with TAX so thank you thank you for sending all the worst SEs with the last one, nice, lovely, I couldn’t wait, that’s exactly how I wanted to end it, with fireworks on the toilet!
And I have still a lot to come: roll on end of July for bilateral mx and complete node clearance on left (only affected side but the right breast is going for prevention), thinking of having expanders in immediately but not sure (would love to know what you think), and of course I might have my ovaries and maybe more out at the same time (I have the BRCA 2 mutation). And 5 weeks of rads in Sept.
Oh Barbwill, I nearly spat my coffee out laughing at your toilet fireworks. Brilliant!
I think you’re right, chemo saved all its worst SEs for my final one too.
People keep saying “ah, but you’ve had the last one now, so it will soon be over” I feel like replying “yeah, so if someone thrusts a hedgehog up your bum, scrapes out the inside of your mouth with a cheesegrater and slams your head in the car door for a whole day, don’t worry, you’ll only have to endure it for another week or two!”

Kittiekat, yes I feel the same, I feel I can’t be positive while I know I will still be getting worse and worse with the SEs until the weekend. I think I’ll start to feel different when I’ll start to get better because I know it will be a definitive recovery this time.
May I pick the brains of those of you who’ve had oral thrush ? The thing is that even the GP yesterday wasn’t sure whether what I’ve got is thrush. My tongue is completely coated in really white stuff, but in a uniform rather than a blotchy way. The edge just underneath the tongue is a bit more blotchy. The rest of the mouth seems ok. The white stuff disappears partially when I eat, ie after eating there is less white stuff and some parts of my tongue look almost normal. But they it builds up again.
But I don’t know what else it could be … I am using Difflam, can difflam make one’s tongue all white like that ? I am still taking the thrush medication but this morning it was more white than yesterday.
That’s just like mine was Barbwill. It ever had a crimpy pattern where white met pink. The pimples came through after a day of so, and five days later, much better.This was the first time my taste afffected to the point of not eating. Are you using Nystatin?
I’m near the finishing line. I wish like you I knew what was happening next. I regret not asking now :o/
Oh Eltikks, do give them a call if you want to know what’s happening next, it’s not nice to be left in limbo, they owe you this information or some sense of when you will get the information if they’re still deciding.

Re eating, I still manage to eat very soft cheese like mozzarella, very soft pasta or boiled rice or other grains, and, of course, magnum ice cream while watching wimbledon!

Has for the hair i too have very very short fluff you cant even say skinhead get but nice all the same
SE with me have been kind i think horrid taste in the mouth but yes i think the answer to that is eat soft nice things
really bad joint pain but take painkillers and its not to bad
and also feeling tired which i will have a nap in the afternoon if needed and also my bedtime is 9pm as i get tired and fall asleep on the sofa and hubby wakes me and sends me to bed

OH i also forgot to say after chemo i will be having my 2nd op which is a mx as i had wle but my tumour was actually 2 tumours so its a mx for me with recon at a later date as i need to loose some weight then 5yrs on hormone pill

Barbwill. Use the Difflam and Nystatin x four daily, and don’t stop even if better. That’s what I was told, and it comes back, but not for as long. Swallow the Nystatin too, it’ll carry on working agains the inner yeast.
I’m seeing the onc, pre chemo, and you can bet it’ll be another new face. The last one I saw didn’t know i’d been admitted a week before. I’ve had lump measured once, first chemo. Nothing else. I know i’ll have surgery next, wle I think, though i’d rather have a mx and i’m due 20 rads. I guess i’m TN as I was told tamox and herc were no use to me. You know as much as I do.
