So sorry lots of people having a tough time the last couple of weeks. I had FEC5 last Fri and been feeling pretty rubbish since, more sickness and tiredness and a few more - erm -digestive symptoms … Main difference has been wanting to stuff my face this week with all the worst stuff I can get hold of, after managing to be a bit of a gooody-two shoes with the fruit, veg and general wholesomeness. Do you think you can put on that 20lb chemo weight in 3 weeks??
Anyway, day 8 tomorrow so hoping things will improve - and for all of you too. Ninja - I have had transfusions in past and yes, you feel so much better really quickly, so hope that is the case.
ps I have good friend coming to visit next week, who always ‘can’t keep up with’ where I am, but said it was ‘great that chemo was just rushing past’ (!) - anyone got a big wet fish I can wallop her over the head with?
love to all, Jude
When you’ve finished with the big wet fish, please may I borrow it… I also have a good friend who keeps telling me ‘hasn’t the time just flown by’ ‘it’ll all be over soon’ - it makes me want to scream!!
I’ve wimped out had fec 5 yesterday and decided it was the last didn’t even have my ‘good’ week with all the problems with the blood clots and the daily injections in my tummy which is now getting very sore and hard. Now have to wait until my bloods are back up to get the line out my chest, then will change from tinzaparin injections to warfarin tablets for my blood.Cant wait to have a lovely deep bath free from my pipe haha.
Rhona.
Cherry orchard - I’ve been suffering with my eyes. Basically crusty and sore, I was given Opticrom eye drops which ease it a little. I am also taking cetirizine for allergy like symptoms.
Met with my Onc today re rads, have a start and end date which makes me feel a little more in control and I can see some light at the end of the tunnel.
And…I have my 40th birthday weekend free from any treatment - yippee!!!
Stay strong lovely May buddies, you’re all amazing.
Smiles xxx
Please can I have the big wet fish too? Actually a big wet shark might be good.
No, it’s not over yet! I have operation and radiotherapy to go, plus the small matter of another *****Tax which will be a week or so of agony i think. Arghhhh!
I know they mean well, but the time might be going quickly for them but certainly not for me!
Wandy, I’m not ‘amazing’, I’m just muddling along like everyone else. I just started from a position of chronic ill-health so everything is hitting me really hard. But thanks anyway.
Morning everyone, hope you’re all having a decent day.
Ninja, you have a stunningly beautifully shaped head!!..bit like mine really!!
I’m having real troubles with my eyes as well…Is this a se??My vision is quite often blurry and I sort of have to squint at the telly and I wake up with gunk around them. I’m taking cetrizine antihistamines and my eyes WERE ok in June when I had a check and my optician knows i’m having treatment and will be on Tamox, (he has insisted on yearly checks while on tamox), but the blurryness seems to have got worse. Does anyone know if this clears up after chemo? Or do I need to have another eye check?
Wandy-my eyes run all the time. Actually it works in my favour as i find my contact lenses more comfortable than pre chemo, but my eyes run at night and go crusty!
Smiles-glad you’ve got things sorted, and hope you have a great birthday.
I woke up this morning with sausage fingers-must be water retention i suppose but how do i get rid of it? My hands are stiff and my fingers tingle. Also have red feet, which i read can be a se of tax, but funny how it’s just appeared now. Like everyone will just be glad to get to the end and get rid of all silly SEs.
Ninja-don’t put yourself down. You are amazing, inspirational, brave and have a beautiful head.
I tried to make an appt with GP about my eyes but they couldn’t see me 'til this pm and I have to stay in and wait for a delivery. So I went to the chemist and he gave me some Viscoeyes, cost £4.62. I put them in about half hour ago and so far they seem to have worked. I have had sore, gritty, sometimes running eyes and wake up in the am with crusty eyes. He says I can use them as often as I need. If they continue to work and I eventually run out, I will get something similiar from the GP.
Belfor, I hope you enjoy your bath once your port is out. Although you still had one treatment left, I think everyone knows when they really can’t take anymore and I guess you had got to that point.
Rach, Could you have hand foot syndrome?? I think you can get it from Fluorouracil, if you are on FEC? You might want to show it to your chemo nurse just in case. Tingling fingers and red feet made me think of it.
Wandy, The eye thing should clear up after chemo is finished. At least, I hope so.
Smiles, Happy Birthday. I hope you have a great weekend.
I am going to try and repair the toilet this afternoon. I think I wore it out with the constant flushing because of the bowel slurry. Anyway, the cistern is overflowing and I have tried bending the float arm with no success. the plumber I called never turned up so I thought f*** him, I’ll do it myself. So I have bought a bottom inlet valve which the plumbers merchant said was the one he sells the most and I am going to try and do it myself. Wish me luck.
I’m at the hospital on bag 2 of my blood transfusion.
I reported the peripheral neuropathy to my favourite nurse and she will email the Oncy about it. She said that he’ll prolly reduce the Tax dose again. I told her that I was worried that another reduction would leave me exposed to too low a dose and that I may not have enough to cure me. She has reassured me. She said that the Tax Trots and now the PN means that the dose was too high for me and that this would simply be a change to a correct volume.
Aye. Each bag is on a two-hour infusion cycle so it’s a very long day. Again. There are only two of us in here this afternoon, both of us getting the Magic Red Bag of Dreams.
Almost fixed the toilet! I have a very slight leak where the coupling nut fits onto the new valve and I can’t find any PTFE tape. I hope that will solve it. I also had to reduce the length of the rod that fits into the back of the toilet handle as it pushed up against the new valve, despite it being compact design. What a performance!!
Correction: It’s fixed!!! I would like to thank my adjustable spanner, my hacksaw, the Fluidmaster Pro bottom entry fill valve (£12.99 from Screwfix) and finally I would like to thank chemo which gave me the determination to have a downstairs toilet that worked! Phew!
Sorry didn’t make it clear on my post but not turning 40 until 6th Oct. I just meant that I will have finished chemo 5 weeks prior and starting rads the Monday after my birthday so won’t be undergoing any treatment at the time. ((sorry))
Feeling sooooo grumpy today, I feel like I’m not allowed another day to recover and that people expect me to be back on my feet…want to borrow that wet fish!!!
