FEC 1 Day10
Hi Stars
Back home after weekly catch up and hug visit with my GP. He wants blood tests so that’s extra being taken when I go for my pre-chemo blood test Monday week. Asked about reducing my diazapam dose to one a day. He’s fine with that as long as I am, Bless him. Think I might just give them to my OH, he’s more stressed than I am at the moment!
Don’t want to make those who have no appetite or those who are suffering with sickness feel any worse but I have just been taken out for a pub lunch. Chicken in Madeira sauce and jam rolypoly with custard, absolutely delicious.
Sorry Barbs and Nikki I have no secret, this is just sheer luck. As I keep saying I’m just going to enjoy it while I can. We all need our strength to get through this.
Btw Barbs my next chemo is 25th for your list, which I am extremely grateful for otherwise I would never remember where we all are. Do like Nikki’s idea about putting our treatment date on postings. Might be an idea to post that idea on FB page too then we might get everyone on board.
Lovely to hear from you Gold and glad to know that things have been pretty good for you. I don’t feel quite so guilty now.
Also like to say Hi to Pots. Just echo what everyone else has said. We’re all in this together my lovely and believe me we all have the same feelings too. x
Hope everyone is getting through Friday 13th ok and that you are going to enjoy the best possible weekend. My OH is off and away again tomorrow so back to just me and darling Son, but we do have my Grandaughter staying for 2 days so that should be fun. Love and hugs to all you wonderful Stars. xxxx

Welcome Pots14, i am sorry you have found yourself in our group, I have found it a great support & I’m sure you will too. It’s a great way to share tips for getting through this rotten illness love & hug xx

Gold dm me with who you really are and ill add you to the f/book group

FEC cylce 1, day 10.

Not very good again yesterday.  Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, dreaded diarrhoea, complete fatigue.  After only two hours up managing a few chores but not a shower or getting dressed went back to bed and slept virtually the reminder of the day and also a good nights sleep.  Hoping today is better.

Pots - welcome to forum.  Hope you find us all friendly and useful advise/our experiences.

Elma55 - I am trying the scalp cooling cap.  It was on for the full length of chemo being injected into my cannula, eg just over three hours.  It is -5 (extremely cold!!) but got used to it after 10 mins or so.  The worst part was not expecting ice on my hair when it was removed, not being able to comb it and also the horrendous headache I developed immediately the cap was off, but I know for cycle 2.  Only 10 days in and I’m hating only being recommended to wash my hair once a week and comb once a day with a wide tooth comb.  These days I’m used to washing my hair daily whilst showering but the six months will quickly, I hope, pass.  Hopefully it will be well worth the effort.

Good luck to all those commencing next week.  We are individuals so react differently to which chemo we are receiving.  Never realised how many chemos there are.  Just keep your chin up, keep smiling, accept help and we’ll all get there in the end.  Hugs to all.  Try to have a brill weekend with your loved ones.  xx

Morning maisies, sorry I have been AWOL but thanks for the concern. Echo was good I think. Yesterday I had a manic day, dentist for a filling, shopping, cleaning hanging pictures and then pre chemo assessment. Well I am having a picc line on the 25th then start chemo on the 27th. I could have started next Friday but there are two reasons I chose not to. First, the nurse who does the picc line isn’t there next week so I would have had to have had one session via cannula then go back for a picc line at a later date. Also, remember I wanted to go to Greece for some friends wedding last week, well it is there wedding reception a week today and we also have tickets to see Madness next Sunday so I thought I would have one really good weekend before it starts. Hope SEs are minimal. won’t be on much ove r the weekend as OH is back from working away all week.

Welcome to Pots xxxxxxx

Morning Stars,

Have decided today will need to be a much better day after the rest of the week seems to have been a 'write off.

Collected wig on Thur (just missing PTB in the process, so sorry!) had my Headstrong session (not as good as Sarah’s btw) and then popped onto chemo ward as had not been feeling too good since dunking. (Nausea, headaches, no appetite, not sleeping) was given diff anti sicktabs which seemed to do the job yesterday but felt really achy, sore throat & spaced out instead (Has anyone else felt like that?) so spent the day doing very little, Again!! ?
So disappointed as was supposed to have been celebrating 10th wedding anniversary and am certain this is not what hubby was expecting for the ‘in sickness & in health’ bit all those years ago. And he’s still waiting for the new me to be revealed!! ?

Anyhooo, am going to risk not taking anti sick tabs and am hoping to do a little bit of anything today to stop me feeling so sluggish. Have also found my lack of activity has really made me stiffen & am not ready for my mx site to start playing up as well now!!
Crikey, am feeling really sorry for myself now. Snap out of it woman!!

I have tried to keep an eye on you all over last few days and really hope everyone is doing ok. Will have a proper catch up later to see what & who I’ve missed.

Have a good day everyone xxx

Hi there Stars,
Just packed OH on his travels again. Thankfully still doing ok here. Just having a nice chill out on the sofa with some catch up soaps and a nice cup of tea. Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend in the best way possible.
KatePB sorry to hear you have been feeling so poorly. Hope that you have been improving throughout the day. Well done for going with the cold cap. I’m just waiting for the fallout!
Sounds like you are in for a fun weekend Sam. Hope you ha ve a fab time. x
Frenchfancy, hope you are feeling a bit brighter. Sorry we missed one another the other day. I’m sure we will get together at some point. Just take it easy and perhaps save the anniversary celebration for the massive party we are all going to be having some of when all this crap is behind us. x
Love and hugs to everyone. xxx

Good morning Stars,
I have woken up to a beautiful sunny morning on the south coast today. This is the first morning since dunking that I have not felt nauseous, I have had porridge for breakfast & providing I continue to feel this good I may drive myself to my parents today for lunch, although its only a 15 min drive this will be quite a mile stone for me as it will be the first time I’ve driven since surgery in early August
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday xx

FEC 1 day12
Good morning Stars
After waking at 6am to a wet and windy Sunday I am pleased to say it is now sunny. Just like me. Still feeling ok although my hair is definitely beginning to loosen now. I had hoped it would last another week for my Grandaughters birthday celebration but doesn’t look like that is going to be the case. Maybe time for Grade 3(won’t forget that one easily) and to give the wigs an airing. At least I have the glamourous blonde one!
Hope everyone’s Sunday is going ok and that everyone who has been feeling poorly is feeling perkier today. x
Thanks very much for those tips Pots. They will be really handy when my body finally decides to give in to the SE’s.
I just keep hoping it doesn’t happen.
Take care beautiful Stars. Love and hugs to all. xx

Thanks for teh list Pots- Barbs I think  you  need to get that chef of a hubby making the GO CAKE!!!

I have a box of head gear but i really don’t want to have to wear it . (Current feeling) Going to feel so self conscious- don’t want OH  or my kids to see me without my hair! Have been ok up to thsi point but I guess now I have  start date reality is kicking in. Possibly the moment the nurse said, you will lose your hair- was when my attitude changedxx

Hi Pots,
Thanks for your kind thoughts. Am starting to come out the other side, thankfully, and not before bl00dy time!!
Regards your Corsodyl toothpaste, get ready for it as it is indeed an acquired taste. Stick with it though as I’ve used it before having had sensitive teeth for years and it does help. Beware, it’s nothing at all like a ‘normal’ toothpaste though. Let me know how you get on!

Am slowly getting back to the real world ladies so catching up with all the news I’ve missed from the last few days so bear with me.

Hope everyone is doing reasonably, or even fantastically, well and you’ve all been enjoying your weekends xx

Good afternoon Stars, unfortunately I didn’t drive to my parents in the end as when I started getting ready I realised I still felt a bit half drunk so not a good idea to be behind a wheel, I’ll give it another couple days & try again.

On the plus side they came to me and brought lunch with them, Mum did a bit of tidying up the garden & finished off the laundry I’d started.

The weather on the south coast is now the pits :frowning: absolutely chucking it down. Gonna get in my pj’s in a minute & snuggle on the sofa.

Take care xx

So sorry you didn’t make it out Nikki. Not worth taking the risk though if you’re not feeling 100% xx It’s just one more thing to remind us we are not in control when the ability to go out & drive when we want is taken away from us as well. Sounds like you got a bit of looking after though courtesy of mum. Hope it was a nice lunch xx

That’s what we are all here for Nikki. I bet there isn’t one of us feeling any different from you despite the brave faces we are putting on. Believe me it’s only because I have made my family and friends promise me that we keep laughing about everything we can that’s keeping me going through this. I have my little weepy moments too and like you the thought of losing my hair is one of the worse things. None of us really know what that’s going to be like.
If you feel up to it treat yourself to something naughty out of the fridge or the larder, put your feet up, stick a laugh a minute comedy film on or failing that put X Factor on, that’s always good for a laugh and just take it easy. Tomorrows another day and closer to the finish line. Take care my lovely. xxxxx

Hello all, my first post so not not sure if even in the right place! I’m starting chemo om 18th September so starting to get quite uptight about it. I’m on FEC-T, I know everyone is different but can anyone tell me how quickly they started feeling sick and/ or tired after the first one???

Welcome aboard Seaview!
Sorry you find yourself amongst us here but it’s a fantastic source of support for this awful experience we all find ourselves going through. It’s a great way to get the best tips and advice to help ease your mind as you start on this journey. We have all had our moments of fear and uncertainty and I can only speak from my own point of view but couldn’t have got this far without these wonderful ladies.
Don’t be afraid to ask anything, no matter what it is. It’s what we’re all here for xx
I appreciate you’re probably very scared about what’s about to happen but once the first one is over, you’ll have a better idea what to expect and hopefully it wont be as bad as you’re thinking right now.

Stay strong, keep smiling and as a new Star, shine as brightly as you feel able to!!

Hi Seaview,
Welcome to the stars where I know there will be help and support to get you through this. These ladies have certainly helped me through with their wit and their wisdom.
I am also on FEC T and had my first session on 3rd. I am one of the lucky ones who has so far escaped the side effects. Although my hair is beginning to fall out now.
We have all been where you are now but it will get easier once the chemo gets underway.
Keep strong and as a Star you will shine bright. xx

Hi Seaview, welcome to the club. Everyone is great on here. You will get lots of advice, support and laughs. God knows we do need a laugh too.
I had mt first FEC 10th Sept and luckily not had many side effects. No sickness, but had heavy stomach, bit constipated, but Barbs is the most experienced in that department, lol x. Almost week on, and now getting quite tired and have sore mouth. Everyone as you will find will have different effects. You will be fine with the September Stars, I find them to be a great support. xx
