Starting EC Chemo this Friday!

Hi All,

I’m 32 years old and was first diagnosed with BC 5 weeks ago and then lung cancer last week! So I met with the onc today and they are fairly sure my BC has spread to my lungs and the lung tumor is not another primary, although they are not 100% sure - still waiting for the staining to be done on my lung biopsy to confirm (has this ever happened to anyone else?), regardless they have told me I will be starting EC chemo this Friday!!!

I have lots of people praying for me and I started reading the bible story of “job” this morning and I feel inspired already, for those of you who are not religious, it’s bascially about a man who seemed to have the worst luck in the world, death in his family, disease, lost all his wealth etc but he never lost his faith in God!

I have to admit I am scared about starting chemo as I don’t know how it will make me feel but I am also glad something will finally start tackling this cancer!

Does anyone have any advice before chemo? I will be having EC chemo - lung tumor is 7 cm and breast tumor is 4.5cm!

Don’t ever lose your faith ladies (and gents)!

Sam,

Just to wish you all the best for tomorrow and to say there is a thread that is titled something like ‘Top tips to get through chemo’ which may be of use.

I was relatively ok on EC and in particular I swore by wearing the anti seasickness wristbands called something like Seabands - you can get them at Boots, Supoerdrug etc. Take all the anti-sickness medication they give you and don’t try to do too much.

Hi Samantha,

Sorry that you have had to join us here, but I hope that we can be of some help.
My situation was different to yours, as I only had one tumour site, but I did have EC (x4) before moving on to a different chemo drug (docetaxel).

I had chemo before surgery to try & shrink /eradicate the tumour, which sounds like what they may be trying to do for you. I didn’t find the EC too bad, better than the docetaxel! I did lose my hair, as expected, but it didn’t happen straight away. I think it was 7 to 10 days after the second round.

Good advice from Lizcat about the seaband, though I have to say I never felt the least bit sick… I had a good result right from the first dose of EC & the tumour continued to shrink, though it never did go entirely. I also managed to work through that phase of treatment.

I hope it all goes well for you; I’m sure someone will come along soon with some help for your lung treatment. Good luck tomorrow & let us know how you get on.

Lxxx
