morning gents
another early start for me - 6.23 - I know it’s not 4 am but still against nature in my book - esp in winter when it’s still pitch black & the heating hasn’t come on yet. will put bid in for nap this PM as OH is home now for Christmas! - I told him I wanted him here after my first dose tomorrow so he is booked off from working in the office from now. I know I am so so lucky that he is part time too so he can be here to look after sophie as she is broken up from nursery now. I obviously hope I won’t be bad but knowing myself & my body I am prepared for the worst but hoping for the best!!
when I mentioned I suffer from migraine the ONC did say it could be triggered as the symptoms are similar - headache & sickness. BTW - they said not to take paracetamol for a temp as it can mask symptoms but I assume this is during the day 10-14 risk of low neutrophils & that at the start I can still take stuff - better ask I suppose.
I am still taking painkillers for the picc. I have a large bruise now & it is itching with the sticky stuff over the plastic bit - need to get another way of covering it cos can’t stand that for 5 months!!!
Funny my predicated text changed pinkies to pimples… Haha made me chuckle (sad I know)
Had to sleep in my cap last night as now malting everywhere, I don’t know why I don’t just shave it off I guess it’s the chemo look I’m not looking forward to…
Also the back of my neck was really cold last night! Do any of you ladies have this? My long hair usually keeps my neck warm so not sure what to do? Any tips would be grateful!
Hope you all have a good day, I’m in bed with the flu and feel pants :(((
Lif went out to pub yesterday for lunch with fellow board members sporting wellies, work trousers with fetching thermal longjohns under, and several layers of jumpers with the covered in wool look! Her normal short cropped hair had been accentuated into the trendy Sinead O’connor look complimented with a brown buff with sheep demonstrating the 101 ways of wearing a buff all over it…she is thinking of becoming a live demonstrator of how to wear one!
Last night she was spotted in yet another pub giving a demonstration to a gathering of fibre animal owners of the skills of buff wearing…to the consternation of fellow diners one of whom spilt his beer in his dinner!!!
Hi Cat et al
Can’t really contribute to the headwear parade, as I am home all day and when cold, will be sporting a boring black beanie, set off by the lovely red nose, brought on by this m****rf**ker of a cold and streaming eyes…I’m soo hoping that this will not stop FEC2, as I feel so dreadful (for a cold), am just concerned.
Sarah - feel better soon! I’m not having issues with cold head/neck in bed, go to sleep with no headwear as I got very hot!
Have been awake since 5, nerves kicking in again, but cricket on, so passes the time…
Love to all, hope those feeling under the weather feel better soon, and those feeling better, hope you stay that way xx
@Jo…hugs re PICC…I have my port under my arm for another few months too and it stops me rolling over in bed at all or it digs in and is often generally yuck. So big sympathy. Still, ought to save me another op for a few years. And I’m pre-allergy on dressings now (still got a small hole) having never had a problem in my life…grrrr…hope yours settles soon.
@Sarah…pulling the duvet up high would help. I developed the over the ear pull somewhere around child 3 so I could sleep through the minor stuff…lol and it’s still the best route now child 5 is 9 and sings a lot at dawn at the w/e. Sorry you’re feeling cr*p.
No comment on fashion parade. Still shedding hair but all over thinning so no headgear yet. Cold cap defo unpleasant this time but a breeze last when hair thicker…working apparently though. Might thermal buff it round neck if I recover from crap night in time to go and sit on a hard pew and watch DD4 later. And probably some other garments too.
Don’t forget PP M-F chat at 11 or 11ish (or any other time of course). And if you need to catch up, the archive button will give you a window on what you’ve missed.
cookiem, love it, i wa also in a shop last week with scarf over my face, lol
sarah, i get really cold neck, i seem to have a scarf on most the time now. in bed i seem to bury my whole head under teh duvet now, somethink i usually hate doing.
buffs are fab, im thinking about buying one of the polar ones , theres a toggle on top and it pulls to a beanney. i brought the oficial BUff, and it was far better than the cheap 1/4 of the price one. but thats still okish. i seem to have spent sooo much on head stuff, im still annoyed at the wig and the hats i had made from the net, that was all a totall of £100 waisted. !!
tummy is still dodgy, and paikillers stil required but not as bad as the last few days, yehhhhhhhhhh… ive decided im stating in today ironing all day till the 2 piles have gone. xx
Had FEC 2 yesterday afternoon and not been able to sleep. Did consider getting on line early but felt too cold to venture out of bed. Re Buffs - wearing one almost all the time really keeping my head warm but also feel chilly down the neck.
Had EC number 5 yesterday and met Reeb beforehand for lunch, which was lovely ( we are being treated in the same hospital and our chemo sessions are on the same day! It’s a small world eh?) It’ s nice to meet someone from the thread in the flesh! proceeded to chemo ward together afterwards (which wasn’t lovely but at least we kept each other company) Not feeling too bad so far but I’m taking it nice an easy.
I don’t know about where you live but up north has started snowing again. Nooooo! And just when snow and ice had started to melt. Damn!
Now I really must start writing those blasted Christmas cards… Have been on FB all morning as I can’t be bothered. Oh well! good luck to all those ladies having their first chemo this week. Hope it’s not too bad!
Onwards and upwards

Jo & Bacca-you poor things with your ports and PICCS-having my PICC appt in 50 mins-eek! Then FEC tomorrow! Hopefully it will be easier than Jo’s but just keeping my fingers crossed!!
hi ladies:)
not been on for a while, the whole ‘poorly’ thing is getting to me a bit, its not like the flu where you know that it will be rough for a few days amd then feel better-its for a few months…and the tax se’s are a massive worry:((( woe is me:(
Steroids-i didnt get any presribed, only had them with my cocktail, have felt better with out them, much less spacey and fuzzy. I told my onc how ill they made me feel. Still feel sicky tho-taking my ondadestron, lanzaprol and using my dom peridon as needed.
Kaz - hope your tummy sorts itself out!!
good luck to all the ladies having treatment today or tomorrow:)

AFternoon ladies. Hope all is going well today. Had my pre-chemo chat yesterday. Found it difficult walking into the chemo unit and hubby had to push me through the door. Then tears started (wish I could turn them off, they are getting very annoying now). Chemo nurse was lovely and I stopped crying immediately as nurse was a young chap from Spain. I expected a cuddly mum figure (why? I have no idea). Went through se’s, emergency number, blood test, signed constent form, then home. All very matter of fact ‘we do this 10 times a day’ feeling. Suited me. Feel ready for Monday now and my mood has lifted.
Hope everything goes well for all today. Last two days of quiet before kids finish for xmas!
Hi everyone,
hope everyone ok and hope all goes well for those who are having treatment today or tomorrow.
Well Madness last night - fantastic!! My brother had booked us seats but there was no way I could sit down to that so I was dancing in the aisles! I had to go for the fish and chips beforehand as well as it sounded like the thing you have to do. Got home at about 12.30 so feeling a bit jaded today.
Got son off sick from school today so hope I’m not going to catch that.
Also just got a call from my brother who works in highways at the council that there is a severe heavy snow forcast on Saturday from 3 in the morning until 9 at night with 8-10cm to 20-25cm in some places predicted. Suggest you all get your bread and soup stocked up! Looks like my trip to o2 to see Simply Red concert could be off!
