All I can say to you lovely girlies - thanks for being there and making this s**t a whole lot easier, laughter and tears, good and bad, we are all in this together, and the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
Together we can deal with all that is flung at us.
2010 may not have been great, and for many of us, 2011 will be tough to start with but I know it will get better!!
All my love,
SJ xx
Knock Knock…Looks like I’m first footing this thread, I have coal (sorry no oil, otherwise would be sending to it to Reeb) for those who are superstitious! Looks like we’re all glad to see 2011 arrive at last. Adding my thanks to all for the support found on here from you lovely lot. May all our troubles be little ones from here on in…

Hello Ladies,
Just read the last 15 pages, since my quick trawl of messages on Christmas Day.
Sorry to read of all your aches and pains, vein problems etc. Nice to see you all supporting each other etc. It certainly helps.
LiF you have really been through it - if you are struggling it must be bad, so sorry to hear that you have been suffering so much. All the mouth and digestive problems are just too much on top of all the aches and pains.
I think it’s wonderful that you have managed to post a diary of SEs - well done you.
How did the ice packs go?
They let me out of hospital yesterday after 11 days on intravenous anti-biotics. They decided I could now go on to oral anti-biotics, so have to take them for another 10 days. Scan next Friday to see if OK to go ahead with surgery to remove appendix. Then not likely to have chemo for 3/4 weeks after that - if at all! Obviously nice not to have chemo, but won’t do long term prognosis much good. Onc wouldn’t give me any definite answers at this stage. So it’s just waiting and wondering in a sort of limbo at the moment. Strangely I just brush the impending appendectomy from my mind as insignificant but worry about the effect of delays on treatment.
Hope 2011 is an improvement on 2010 for everyone.

Stella glad u were home for new year. Hope u get on ok.
Not fair about t appendix. Surely we should be exempt from all other ailments while we’re dealing with all this!!!

Happy New Year girls and thanks for being here.
Stella - glad you’re back home and I hope they can take that appendix out soon and then you’ll get some answers about your chemo.
Hope everyone is feeling better today.
Have a good day, catch up later (once I’ve got all the fires sorted out etc although I might go shopping as they’re bound to be warmer than here)

Happy New Year everybody. Here’s to a heathier and happier one for us all.
Went out last night to friends of ours and had a really lovely evening although didn’t drink more than a sip of champagne as only 2 days post FEC but that didn’t matter at all as feel clear headed today even though a bit tired.
Hope all who are suffering, feel better very very soon!
Lots of love and hugs to everyone

Now sitting here wearing a bandana to stop kids rubbing their hands all over my fuzzy head… once or twice was funny, five minutes later it was getting a little annoying!!

happpy new year good wishes to my computer pals. i don’t think i’d be getting through this lot without you and your advice/info and support.
managed to go out to see the new year in with friends last night -felt a bit surrela but had a nice time - well whatever next year brings it won’t be a divorce and cancer within days of each other.
I’ve retired to bed/settee washed out and weary today. i know that the energy levels will pick up post FEC I have’nt felt at all like eating either which doesn’t help matters. have eaten fruiit salad and yoghurt but heartburn kicking in now.
wishing you all the very best and glad you are there

Hi Sophie
Welcome to the club, and although have bandanas etc, have decided that bald is the way to go! Wear hats outside for warmth, but have decided to go au naturel most of the time - have shocked a few people, but have come to the conclusion it is their problem not mine. My head is sensitive and anything on it is uncomfortable. I have found the whole thing quite liberating, and gives a whole new meaning to wash and go in the mornings!
The only thing is photos, I have asked the kids to take some and they say yeah, yeah and don’t do it. I didn’t appear in any of the Xmas photos and when I pointed it out to my mum (photographer), she was absolutely mortified, but I think it happened subconsiously.
Claire, well done for getting out and having a good time, I am wiped out today for absolutely no reason - was in bed by 11.30 on one large Baileys (I don’t like NYE for all sorts of reasons!)
Everyone else - hope you feeling stronger by the day
Gratuitous hugs all round, just cos I can!!

Happy New Year everyone. Thanks for being there.xxxx
SJ - will def. be au naturel indoors, once I’m used to the cold! For some reason the heating got turned off so I was wondering why it was so chilly… and that, combined with newly shorn head, was a bit much! I do think I will be wearing make-up for a few days until I get used to the new me… feel I need big ear-rings too, for some reason!!!
Tried my hospital alternate hair creature on - it certainly fits well now, and does look ‘normal’… but OH said it made me look older, so that’s gone straight back in the bag! Not sure if he meant I looked younger bald… or the wig looked older than my normal hair, but it’s def. going to remain in the bag unless I have a very pressing reason to wear it! Fire engine red bob on ebay looking tempting now…

Am wearing slap when I go out, normally only bother for special occasions, and completely understand the thoughts about big earrings!
