Hi girlies
FEC3 day 3 and apart from feeling like I had been hit by a bulldozer when I got home from hospital and slept for hours, touch wood, not too bad. Just the normal thing, do something and then have to sit down for a while. I think half the thing about the se’s is learning how to deal with them, and although mine seem to come in a different order each time, now I know what’s happening…
I had my flu jab 7 days before last FEC - sore arm but no other se’s. Just as well methinks, as I think DS has flu, is running a temp and cannot get out of bed - shame it was his 20th birthday yesterday
Moisturiser - using whatever I have at the moment, haven’t been big on using them before, so I have a large collection from various pressies!
Hair - had mine clippered to a no 1 FEC1 + 7, and it is definitely a lot thinner and patchier, and the grey ones left seem to be growing quicker than my natural blond - shucks! I have no problem with it, don’t even bother putting on hat when answering door! Not even feeling that cold now the weather has warmed up a touch
Hopefully, those not feeling great are feeling better this morning…
Aromatherapy massage sounds lovely, will investigate…
Morning:)
In much brighter frame of mind today, mind u it is only half eight!!!
My onc told me it would be a good idea for me to have a flu injection, which is all well and good, except my gp dosent have any. Got a prescription for it, so need to find supply!!!
Strange how most people who have had number3 have found it hard, myself included.
Hugs to reeb and polly, it WILL get better.
kerry xx
Hi Kerry
I was dreading no3, but so far so good…perhaps it will hit me later rather than sooner…
But 2 and 3 have been so much better after the severe nausea I had for no 1, which totally knocked me for 6, and now that’s under control, can at least function.
Made a cheesecake yesterday for DS’s birthday cake, only he’s too ill to eat it
Another rough night, courtesy of steroids no doubt, and those dreadful hot flushes. We are definitely going in tandem Reeb! We should ask Bacca to set up a card game you can play on line during the wee hours on the PP forum, for all us insomniac girls. Damn!
Just spent a little fortune ordering that famous climarelle duvet mentioned on the hot at night thread. Let’s see if it makes the difference.
re: flu jab. I mentioned it to my GP when I saw her on Friday. Considering I have just had my last chemo and my neutrophils were borderline she suggested I wait until I have finished radio. like Sophie said I don’t want to risk being wiped out by the flu after escaping colds, coughs, etc.
Enjoy your Sunday girls.

Off to pc world with my laptop as it just stopped working last night…my whole life is on that laptop so I
m now transferring life to the kids computer for a mo…all I need! Therefore cannot access pp at the mo nor send emails!
Sophie…The Lush deo is really good…and lasts ages!
Reeb I have posted an amusing thing my son said in the inappropriate comments thread…please copy and use it as cannot email or anything .
Feel slightly more human today…Is there anyone who would like a huge and superb Buff Orpington cockerel to go with their hens…I have 4 all 6 months and they are being relocated to the freezer this week if no takers!
Got a new hen house and the 2 Buff hens are soooo huge we are going to have to make the pop hole bigger…they are too fat to get through!!!
Roll on spring and sunny days so we can all have our lives back eh and not be dominated by talk of blood tests, hot flushes, steroids, hospitals and constipation!! xxx
LiF - the reviews on the Lush deo was so mixed and varied that I wasnt really sure - but then I figured that we all react differently to things, so worth trying. I’ve always been a sweaty one - honestly, with all the rushing around I used to do, there is no justice, should have been a size 6 (!) - and this did get some fab reviews on the anti-perspirant side. Mind you - only have one sweaty pit these days, as since anc my left sweatglands seem to have stopped working…
I got the lemon scented bar one, and also some of the powder deo - thought I could prob. use both at once if the lemon alone didn’t sort the perspiration side out on its own - did look at the patchouli one, but I’m not really a fan of patchouli - not any more! Def. smell of twenty years ago, I think. Reviews did make me laugh - ‘apparently bikers used to use patchouli, so it’s a biker smell’… hmmm. obviously written by sweet innocents who didn’t realise patchouli was used by bikers and hippies to cover up the smell of dope…hehehehe.
Gosh, what a ramble. Sorry - just popped the dex, maybe that’s got something to do with it…
Forgot to say - hope PC world sort your laptop out fast. Going shopping with OH tomorrow as he wants a laptop, and thought I’d treat him to one as a big thank you for all the support he’s given me. And to stop him from breaking mine.
Was going to upgrade my laptop too… but not sure. Maybe if I can get them to do us a deal on buying two at once, what do you reckon? Then my son could have this one… it is two years old and the battery no longer charges so have to have it plugged in all the time, and it’s full of crumbs (oops)… but still works!
Moisturisers - I like the Boots Royal jelly stuff. For my face I use Johnson & Johnson Clean & Clear moisturiser as otherwise I end with teenage-looking spots.
Since mx I’ve been using Simple (to match my brain) products - shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and roll-on deoderant.
Welcome to Kazza - but sorry you’re here iykwim.
Kerry, Lulu, Reeb, and others who are feeling wiped out with ses, hope you’re soon feeling a lot better.
LiF get a lap top with a 17 inch screen. My hubby, whose eyes are feeble at the best of times, insisted he wanted a nice big screen and I have to say it is a big improvement.
We’ve been looking at options for a new bathroom. Conclusion is we need a bigger bathroom, or we need to manage without the combi boiler that takes up some of the room - but then without hot water, we could manage without a bath!
Hi
Thankyou everyone for a very warm welcome although i must say i would rather not be here… as i guess many of you feel.
Thanks for the advise re flu jab… I really have a needle phobia but hey i guess after all the needles i am going to meet on the way this may soon be over!!!
I will speak with my chemo nurse on Thursday… OMG only 4 more sleeps to go, the worst of it is i know they have removed all the cancer and i am feeling really good in myself so all i keep thinking is WHY am i going to go through with this, and i do know the reasons why but i am just dreading it so much. All you ladies on here seem to be so strong!! Will i get stronger?? Please tell me i will…
Anyway enough of me rambling, take care all of you and i hope you are not suffering too much
xxxxx
we’re not all strong all the time. I had a mx and no nodes involved but am due to get 3rd FEC out of 6 tomorrow. It is horrible that the chemo makes you feel cr*p for a few days and really it’s to stop the cancer coming back, when it might not have anyway. If it’s any reassurance, the first chemo is the most scary as you don’t know what to expect. After that, if you’re sick, you can get them to change your meds before the next one and it all seems less worrying when you know what to expect and can plan around it a bit more. So, what I’m saying is you’ll be less scared before the 2nd chemo. It will all go faster than you think too.
afternoon all
have definitely been in duvet land since Fri - managed to avoid being sick til 10Pm then it came with a vengence & didn’t stop til 8am so that was a night for rob & I to remember - was convinced her new drug regime was working this time but obviosly not as I was worse than FEC 1. Only good thing was that sophie wasn’t there & had a lovely time sleeping over at auntie’s.
Have pretty much been in & out of bed since as luckily steroids don’t seem to stop me sleeping.
did the deed with the hair about 2 hours ago as it was shedding everywhere so am sporting the 2011 style No1 - posted it on facebook with my darling hubby who has the same cut!!!
feel better for it as was getting upset every time it came out in my hand.
took ages to catch up - re moisturisers I use aqueous cream but also Dr Organic (from Holland & Barrett) aloe vera with arnica & tea trea & use it under arms as a deodorant too & it works brilliantly so have stopped using normal deo
I am planning to book some treatments next week for my good week - & we have tickets for Hairspry (oh the irony) for the eve before FEC 3 so that’s something to look forward to. also OH managed to get middle 5th row tickets for David Tennant & Catherine Tate in Much ado about nothing in Aug - which seems an age away but again will be something special to look forward to. I want to book centerparcs for June/july post treatment too as sophie loves it there & we go every year so would be something we can all look forward to.
re DX I am triple neg - is anyone else here??? - I know that is rubbish cos apart from chemo & rads there’s no other treatment & it tends to be more agressive but hey ho I realised at the beginning we all have to deal with what we have & wishing it was something different doesn’t help. On the up side at least my treatment will be completely over by end of May & no SEs from other drugs for a while!!!
HUgs to everyone & here’s hoping I manage to stay out of my bed for at least another hour or so!!!
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX joXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Day 4 and still cant do a thing. Laid about in bed or on sofa 24/7 not good. Can i ask…do you normally feel well during the vulnerable week other than if you get an infection?
Sophie our area does not do futher tests like yours other than a chest xray. (they do do the tumour marker blood test as well but thats all). Dont know what i think of this…good or bad? Jo and I have v similar diagnosis and Jo had some other tests as she previously mentioned. Cant help wondering if im missing out on something??
Re creams ive just been using aquaous cream-doc will even give a prescription for this as its good for bad arm.
Millykins - hugs - I was really hoping they’d have got you sorted this time around, but when hadn’t heard much from you, did fear the worst Did you get emend this time? Or are they slowly working their way up the price bracket, i wonder? Hope you feel more alive soon. And the hair is great - well done you for posting on fb, have already spotted it and commented!! Think you still have little more than me, as I have obvious bald spots on sides and receding hairline in a widow’s peak type styleeeee.
I’m not triple neg, but the one plus you can hang onto from your dx is that chemo is supposedly the most effective on triple neg bc - so that’s something. Plus, you avoid the tamoxifen and early menopause if oestregen is not something that affects your particular cancer. So, swings and roundabouts really - yes, the treatment options are more limited, but then you’re not having to hammer down the natural substances that create tumours in others… hope that makes sense.
Deb - I’m not certain either - my onc. did say that extra tests with no real cause tended to create more anxiety than they quelled - but I did ask if I could have a complete list of ‘what to look out for’ once treatment had finished, because if we’re not getting tests… then we need to be vigilant, and actually know what possible problems could look like/present as. Onc. said of course… so we shall see.
Re creams: Remembered this morning that in my big box of get well/hope you don’t die goodies from work (sorry, but the girls there do share my soh) was a big tub of coconut body butter by Treacle Moon - dug that out and slathered it on after a shower, and can still smell the coconut…mmmmm. Fine in winter, mosquito attractant in the summer, <grin> so will be using this up whilst it’s cold. Just waiting for my lorryload of Lush products to show up by end of week…</grin>
Debs, on being crashed still day 4, I’d say that was pretty normal. Second week you should feel much better, but I know the tiredness is accumulative, so I’m guessing that we never really recover to peak fitness between each dose, and will actually be less and less recovered by the end of each cycle - and that IS normal. Just listen to what your body is telling you, and if you need to sofa surf for 24 hours a day, then do it. Not like it’s something we normally get the opportunity to do…
Kazza - welcome, and feel free to wobble - we all have our moments! It is honestly much scarier waiting to start, as once you get going, you at least know what you’re dealing with, and can start crossing treatments off the list. It’s still hard, and not fun at all - but with the support from everyone on here, you’ll get through. We give each other strength, and it WILL rub off on you too xx
Sophie if you do ever get the ‘things to look out for’ list would you PM me it cause i keep asking but never seem to get a definative answer. Things such as ‘prolonged pain’ ‘not the norm for you’ ‘symptoms that dont go away’ keep being said but this doesnt help me at the moment.
Hi girlies
Reading all your posts, feeling quite guilty as I feel so well FEC3 day3…Just a bit tired…
When I think of the comparison to how I felt FEC1 day3, what a difference…
Yup, if it ever materialises, I’ll be sure to send you a copy!! Vague answers really don’t help, do they - and I don’t know which would be worse - running to hospital every time I crick my neck, or writing something off as not serious, and being wrong about that…
