SJ, don’t you dare keep off - we need the good results to balance the horridness - gives us all hope!!
And if not hope, then we can throw things at our screens and curse that our fate was not so good…hehehehe

Hi mel
Sorry you have been poorly. I will be having my last tax on the same day as you start. The first one i was very tired and developed achy back and burning heels on feet. Saw the onc and he reduced my dose and this time havent had anything apart from tiredness so it hasnt been to bad. There are a lot of horror stories about it being light sensitive so wear dark nail varnish or your nails will go black or your tongue can go green but as you know everyone is different.
Hope this helps a little. Take care and try not to worry. Big hug xx
I was talking to chemo nurse about TAX, and she did say that some people find tax easier than FEC - I certainly think that if you had terrible nausea on FEC, then not having the same with TAX would be a massive improvement. She also said that if you are scheduled to have the injections to keep your bone marrow topped up, that these are often what cause the bone aches. She then went and checked my notes, and yup, I’ll be getting these bone acher jabs. hey ho. I’ve got one more FEC to go, so won’t be starting TAX til mid February. I have already stocked up on dark nail varnish… but hadn’t heard the green tongue se! Lovely!!

Hi
I got the bone acher jabs after FEC 1. They were for 5 days, 5 days after the FEC which happened to be xmas eve at my parents house so I had to inject myself. I didn’t experience any achey pain (but I did milk it a bit and laid on the sofa saying I felt achey and couldn’t do anything) …
Hi sophie
I didnt have the jabs and was still achy with the first one and my friend also had tax and she had the jabs and she was fine so you never know you might be ok. The green tongue was mentioned by another friend of mine who had it cant say i have noticed it but just thought i would mention it. So fingers x’d you may be fine sophie x
SJ…your turn to hand round the tea and sympathy…aka choccie doughnuts (I wish!).
Bad night last night formulating the list of Qs ofr the consultant next week…I have a decide whether you’re changing to tax for 4-6 phone consultation. Urghhh. Wish I’d decided on another face-to-face now. Not helped by still feeling crap after FEC3 after 1 and 2 being relatively ok.
Reeb…yep my thermoregulation is terrible. Even with a reasonable amount of hair my head and neck feel colder than with the cold caps on most of the time…very fetching in chullo (made by me post FEC1) and hoodie but not in bed! Rest coping but wearing winter walking trousers and tech layer/fleeces all the time so maybe not up to spec there either…
Jo ((hugs)). Are you on Emend yet? Good to make plans…though any mention of getting back in my kayak etc just reduces me to a sobbing wreck atm.
Pinkrose, Newmel great to see you back…maybe drop in on PP, be good to get to know you better off-google.
Bad news re my laptop…motherboard has gone for a burton a week after the warranty expired…its a fab laptop and only a year old. Man in PC world said it would cost…£229 and take 3 weeks …I said no thankyou and will take it to the nice man in Ottery St Mary (where there is a fab puter repairers) I need it back this week…yikes!
tax day 19 and feeling really very ok! I can honestly say if i can avoid the dreadful mouth and neutropenic sepsis next time with either the jabs and or reduction in dose I think…its slightly less debilitating than fec as no nausea and no foggy brain.
Nails so far so good, hair still growing wispily on head all other hair growing still have 95% eyebrows n lashes so hopefully this one will be kinder. Am taking 4 huge packs of frozen peas and insulated wool packs to wrap them around hands n feet and ice lollies…this will confirm to the unit that I need the men in white coats but I do not care!
If I was given choice of 6 fec or Fec-T without the little hiccup I had I would go Fec-T…
But ask me again this time next week ![]()
Bacca…you WILL be in your kayak soon as the summer arrives or I will send oldest son up with his kayak to give you a tow!!
LiF Hope you can get your laptop fixed quickly. Also pleased you are feeling better.
Regarding injections to boost wbc. I had the ones which start on the fifth day, for five days after FEC3. I had slight lower back ache for about three days, but that was all, so if I ever get to having the remainder of my chemo , I’ll know what is the TAX and what is the injections.
We have eaten some of the peas I had in readiness - they were taking up too much room in the freezer. I’ll buy more if/when I need them.
Best wishes to all.
Stella
Hope you sort that laptop soon LIF. The threat of paxing in the twoseater is enough to spur me on…9yo needs her own really for next season so that should slow things down and we’ve always got our beautiful rural canal to avoid paddling against the tide.
Today’s odd aches are back of wrists and upper arms. All very odd. Must start the pyridoxine again…been pill-shy for a couple of days. Main thing with the tax may be the elephant dex doses…can’t cope with 12mg a day and my standard is now 6mg a day…so double?? Makes me pathetic just thinking about it. Write. Down. Qs. Urghh…
Trish
Can’t do choccie donuts but have a fab cheesecake with Tia Maria and choc in it to go with the cuppa, if that’s any good? I need halp eating it as the weight is piling on, the nurse’s comment on Friday was to ask if I had a good Xmas, and New Year and since…
Sophie - not good news with the laptop, my notebook celebrates it’s 1st birthday this week, fingers crossed it survives, as would be lost without it!
If it’s any consolation, feeling a bit tired now…

12mg!!! with fec!!!
I get for tax…
8mg at 6am and 8mg at 2pm day before then 8mg 6am on day of tax then I elect to take 2mg at 2pm and 2mg 6am following day, thats all…and that was ok
With Fec it was 4mg with dose, 4mg (but I took 2mg) following morning and 2pm and that was it
Bacca - did you start out with 12mg on FEC? My daily dose is 6mg - and even that might be what caused me to crash during second half of week post FEC1 - so tailing off slower this time around.

LiF - hope your little guy at the puter repair place can sort it cheaper for you - always handy to know one of them! I always think places like PC world are far more interested in selling you some brand new and upgradeable, so quote way too high for what might be a fairly simple repair.
Still humming and haahing over whether I will get new laptop… may well be tempted in store when looking for OH’s new toy…

The original schedule for me was:
Emend 120mg an hour be4 and 12mg dex (oral) and odansetron at start of chemo. Odansetron 6?h later.
Day 2: Emend 80mg and supposedly 12mg dex (took 8mg)
Day 3: Emend 80mg only.
On that I had no nausea whatsoever but had CNS effects on the 12mg and still some on the 8mg so FEC2 and 3 the 12mg was reduced to 6mg Day 1 and 6mg Day 2. Taking 4mg Day 2 worked fine with FEC2.
No nausea, no sickness so great. With FEC1 the duvet days were 3,4,5, with FEC2 flat early on and this time longer but the rule of thumb is that tiredness increases through chemo is it not?
My Hb is still very good, my whites up too, so tiredness=FEC. It’s hard to take after juggling five kids and a farm and a second degree…but it’s only for a while. The slow brain however is a PITA. Wandering round the supermarket like some poor demented soul is NOT good for morale!
Funny how much it differs. My schedule was: dex/onadestron at beginning of chemo, with domperidone (2) that night. Then 3 x 2mg dex next day before 2pm, 1 x onadestron am and pm, dom peridone 4 x 2 tabs each day - all for three days. I was rattling! Same again this time, except for dropping dex to two doses day three, and final single dose day 4.
Which has just reminded me that I haven’t taken my pills this evening…
Sophie I had the same as you but they upped the dex before which seemed to just delay the sickness starting so that didn’t work just lulled me into a false sense of security!!!
I know the TAX is supposed to be worse but to be honest I’m almost looking forward to changing (will eat words no doubt!)
eating again but only kiddie comfort food - boiled egg (with soldiers of course) for lunch & fish finger sandwiches for tea. but it was what I fancied so it’s what I had. Am about to tuck into some strawberry fizzy laces now. so far have avoided any weight gain but am sure that will change as time goes on??? - not trying not to put on weight but somehow it’s not going on just staying stable & as I am overweight anyway that can only be a good thing. Sweeties calling me now

Evening girls have just managed to drag myself off the sofa, day 3 post fec 3 and this is the worst i have felt, no energy at all, oh has been a star today and waited on me hand and foot, sent him of to the pub for a well deserved pint, will catch up properly when feeling better, hugs jam xxx
