poppy Er+ve ( even mildly is good)as in they have more idea how it will react and respondto hormone treatment but hey, how do any of us know whats good and whats not I sometimes feel like im in a game of russian roulette( please dont let me get the bullet )ha ha

Cant remember who asked but yes i had a flu jab last week and so far been fine I dont usually get one but we have 2 cases of suspected swine flu on our ward and seeing as im now back to work didnt want to take the risk.( so now going in in full space suit) only kidding but its a good idea.well im there again tomorrow 7.30 am dont know if POKER FACE is on but im just gonna ignore her and be my usual cheery me only there another 1/2 day then back to my usual night duty. big hugs to all of you not feeling well and thinking of you all .x MWAH night night pinkies( some of us have got to go to work tomorrow)

Hi everyone,
Can’t remember what you’ve all said before but how long does the pain last in the chemo arm? For me it was just a bit sore after FEC 1 but over the last week/ 10 days post FEC 2 it’s gradually got worse. With that in my right arm and cording in my left arm, it’s a bit restricting! Is there anything I can do to help prevent it or improve it?

Visitors have now gone and the house has become quiet again. Starting to feel a bit better so hopefully I should be coming out of the post FEC se. Trouble is last time I got a serious case of the munchies and I’ve just been on the scales, could be in danger of breaking them at this rate.
On the subject of comments thought I’d share one that I received. It was a little while ago and I’d literally just got home following my second op when I received a text message from a male member of staff asking “if the delay in starting my chemo was because being a woman I was taking so long deciding what type of scarf I would have”. The comment did not help his disciplinary case which I’ve been building up for some time! OH went ballistic but I’d better not mention just what he text back, it was not for delicate ears.
Julie all the best for tomorrow. If you need the posse to come and sort her out we’ll be up there but I truly hope it will be a better experience for you.
LiF thanks for your comment from your little boy. Afraid it made me laugh, so typical of kids. I hope your laptop gets sorted out soon.

Angie the vein where I had my first FEC is still sore (just had #3). I think it got really irritated by the stuff.
Hope all goes ok tomorrow Julie. i just got another sick note from the GP- takes me up to April and she said “you may want to go back to work in between chemo & rad’s!” Me thinks not!!

Thanks Kimmie. Although been bit achey I have to say I’ve been feeling a lot better physically with the tax compared to the FEC - think it’s cos none of the nausea.
Ang I’ve had a sore vein since fec2 which was 3 weeks ago. When I went on Thurs last week thinking I was having #3 on friday I told the nurse she wouldn’t be able to use that hand this time as it was so sore. She said she couldn’t use the other one as they’d taken out a couple of lymph nodes that side blooms like I’ll just have to put up with it when I go next week.

It’s the E that upsets veins and it needs to be put through as quick as poss without discomfort and flushed well through with saline then the other stuff. I’ve yet to have one in the hand (I’d prefer not to). My nurse works up the arm, she has a plan…and two courses to follow too. Sorry to hear your arm hurts Angie
Agree Bacca, my poor arm looks like a junkie. Black veins running from wrist to elbow on the inside. Hand to wrist and another further up. Next FEC 4 i may have to sit for a while with my arm in a sink of hot water and hope that a good vein pops up from somewhere. Only happens when the E goes in, no matter how slowly. Instant red flush and itchy. Any idea how long the black look lasts for??
Not feeling too bad today, but it is early. Might even put the hoover around?? maybe not!

I’m back on the steroids in prep for my 3rd Tax tomorrow I feel like my honeymoon period is going to end as I’m been so well this time.
I’m off to meet a friend for lunch today, she had BC 4 years ago so looking forward to that although have no idea what I’m going to have for lunch as I’ve cut out diary, meat and alcohol from my diet.

still feeling like a zombie - OH just gone shopping & sophie at nursery so nice peace here. No I didn’t get emend - she upped my steroids in the pre bag & gave me more ondansetron which staved it off for longer but then came on worse later so will be def demanding emend for fec 3 - they’ll prob get me sorted for the last one!!! then on to TAX so god knows what will happen to me with that - none of us know do we?!?!?!
don’t like my velcro head on the pillow & keep getting a shock when I pass a mirror. feels chemoey & cancery now which I hate. thanksfully sophie seems to be coping with the new look but I do keep getting sideways looks from OH as he’s getting used to it. I suppose it’s easier for us cos we can’t see ourselves.
sorry to all you with vein & arm probs - sounds horrid. am so glad I took the plunge & got my picc even though it wasn’t/isn’t nice I think for me it was the lesser of 2 evils.
right - back to bed or the sofa - oooh too much choice I can’t cope

had a late x,as pressie today, andy got me some running trainers, never ran before, so its my goal for this year. ive got a 10k run in edinburgh in may, for breastcancercare. andys doing the marathon on the sunday so we got a weekend up there.

Hiya - I’m typing to you from my new laptop - can you tell? Lol - got to get used to the different sized keyboard - this one is a bit larger than on the old lappy. Son will be made up as he can have my old one, but he has to earn it by downloading all my photos and files for me onto a memory stick so I can put them on here…
Got OH good deal on a laptop too - £200 off because we bought two - far more memory etc than he will ever use, but seemed silly not to go for the deal - as it was only £30 more in the end than the first one he looked at. His is black and chunky - proper man’s computer, whereas mine is sleek and red and sexy… just like I’d like to be…one day!!!

Just takem my laptop in…its sleek, red n sexy but ill! Be needing major operation to fix it so I’m beginning to think it has gone out in sympathy with us all…be wanting a holiday soon it will!
Man in shop gulped and said he would try very hard to get it back asap as i have to do tax n vat return and all the info is on it!!!
