Well done Pollypocket getting first overwith today - reassuring you’re well enough to post on here so soon. Hope you’re ok too Janvis.
Bacca - glad I have you to hold hands with tomorrow. SOOOOOO scared -horrible feeling of inevitability about it all. Nausea already!!Treated myself to a new vomit bowl this afternoon - don’t I just know how to have a good time? haha. Not my kind of shopping. Someone said should take milk thistle supplement to protect liver - anyone know about that?

Hi dima
Im sure you will be fine tomorrow. Good luck.
I dont know re the liver remedy i would ask your bcn or onc.
Love and hugs kim x
P.s.hope you dont need your new bowl
Ok girls feeling really scared now. Saw my onc and my liver function tests have come back abnormal and different from last time. They’re going to do liver and bone scan and definately start chemo Wednesday. Road is looking a bit dark from here. I’m also going to be starting tamoxifen this week and they’d previously said I’d start after radiotherapy - has anyone else started yet?
Forgot my printout of Julie’s chemo list and could only remember bongela, digal thermometer and sherbert lemons. By the time I got home most of the sherbert lemons have been eaten.
Take care everyone
Reeb xx
reeb im on tamoxifen ( 3 months now)now ive been fine with it,glad you got youre date sorted now im sure hes just doing scans to be on the side of caution prior to the start andwith all you have been through with seroma and infection etc i wouldnt be suprised if youre bloods are all out youre body has had a lot of stick lately and is probably trying to fight it off ( either that or you’ve hit the bottle more lately ha ha )Im going to drs tomorrow as he wants to check all my bloods aswell so gonna have full blood count and liver and kidney function hopefully they all ok ,but remember you,ve had surgery and it can take a lot out of our bodies xxxx Julie
Thanks Julie - I certainly hope you’re right.
Reeb xx
Sorry to hear you have another wait for tests and results Reeb - hope it’s all just precautionary. Fingers x
Thanks for all the cyber hugs for tomorrow - it’s a massive help. (And if I dont need the vomit bowl it’ll be money well spent!)
xx
Hi all
Could do with your advice - if anyone has had same problems
Have had 2nd FEC today at 3pm but already being very ill. Was OK for 24 hours last time.
Was told to phone GP if not OK over next few days but it is the same day and have had a lot of anti sickness drugs in the drip.
Has anyone had same problems?
You were all right - I should have insisted on e-mend!
Janette xxx
Hi Janette
I suppose it doesn’t always follow that we’ll feel the same after each chemo. I actually got given additional anti-sickness tablets after my 2nd FEC which definately helped. If I were you I wouldn’t suffer in silence for too long if you still feel rough, don’t worry about contacting the GP too soon, you shouldn’t have to feel that sick.
Reeb - awful having to wait for more tests, but what Julie has said makes a lot of sense.
Hello lovely ladies:-)))) reeb-I have had all sorts of scans and bloods done before my chemo, they like to get a baseline, apparently, and you have been through big operation:-)
kaz- totally get the boring thing:-) I want gossip, scandal and funny stuff, like I said to my friend-i have cancer, not leprosy!!! Went for Chinese and a drink last night, nice as normal, except more sober than usual!!!
My scalp is tingling today, wonder if my hair is gonna do one in the morning?? Off to hullwigz, to choose an MHz wig tomorrow. Strange days!!!
Sending all the hugs to in the world to the pink ladies on this well trodden path:-)

HI all
Saw ONC today & can’t start til my wound is healed as otherwise it may not heal properly which makes sense as the chemo kills white blood cells. So have provisional date of 10th Dec dependant on healing so am quite pleased as if goes ahead should be in “good” week for christmas. asked for PICC line as veins gave up during op & so that should be going ahead. Asked also about Emend & was told they are not allowed to prescribe it unless they have tried the other stuff first - exactly as warned. so we’ll see!!! Lots of scans etc to come so waiting for the flood of appointment letters to come through the door. also annoyingly as I’me having 3 FEC then 3 Taxylotil (or whatever) I have to have the last 3 at our cancer centre at Guildford so 30 miles away!!! which is also where I have radiotherapy after. but it’s cos there can be more of a reaction so they like you to be where there are all the ONCs based to deal with ant probs. BUT feel I am getting the best drugs for my type & diag so it’s fine.
Feel so much happier now - just like people said - once you have a plan it’s easier. So I am going to enjoy the next 2 1/2 weeks as much as poss (even with a blood bag stuck to my seeping boob as I have at the mo!)
Best of luck to everyone about to start & well done to those who got through their first doses

Jo - you and I are going to be on the same regime at much the same time - I saw my onc. today and she said she wanted me to start at about four weeks post surgery - 10th would be four weeks exactly, so likely to be within a week or so of that day, I would have thought.
I have my pre-chemo session next Monday and will find out my start date then. I’ll be having 3 x FEC and 3 x TAX as well, not sure about rads yet as my onc. didn’t think the margins were clear enough after mx, tho in the multi-disciplinary meeting they had about my case, it was said that the margins were clear… she’s going to have a look into it and let me know what she thinks on that one. Either way, it’ll be 5 years tamoxifen afterwards as the tumour was highly oestregen receptive.
Good luck with that boob settling down, that’s bad luck having problems like that to deal with too - as if we don’t have enough to contend with!!
I think there’s a few of us on this site starting at around the same time… so we can take hints and inspiration from those ahead on the journey, and cheer each other on all the way!

janette have you taken ondansatron and metochlorpramide anti-sickness tablets aswell (in between) if you have and still feel rough ring your out of hours chemo team dont suffer uneccesarily.you can stil take oral meds even if you have had anti-sickness i/v.i used to take them again as soon as i got home if i was sick or not as its better to prevent it than stop it once it starts xxx take care Julie
Thanks Sophie
Great name by the way - my daughter is Sophie!!
- I def think I have benefitted from being on here & seeing some people through their first 1 or 2 sessions - very reassuring when they are back on here posting - all not as bad as our fears etc!!!. I am triple neg which I knwo isn’t so good as they can’t use hormone therapy but on the plus side apparently it responds better to chemo. I was also told today that if there’s no recurrance within about 4 years it’s unlikely there will be one at all - so only 3 years 10 months to go then!!!
I’m getting booked for lots of scans etc which is a bit scary but at least we’ll know if there is anything untoward - I’d rather know !!!
Hoping wound stops leaking soon - seeing BCN Fri to check it but saw surgeon today as a precatuon & he was “impressed” with what the out of hours doc had done & said to leave it in place - at least it’s draining now rather than filling up & needing draining which was just horrid.
AT least there will be a few of us too that are going through the first session nerves together whereas the others will be “old hands” by mid dec.
XjoXXXXXXXX
Thanks Julie
Have put a call into helpline and they have said they will phone back shortly.
Janette xx
ok let me know what they say in the meantime try a couple of cream crackers/cream cheese and make sure you drink plenty tonic water or ginger beer if you can stomach it cos sometimes you feel more sick if you havent eaten anything. xxx oooorrr chick im rubbing your back and giving you a cyber hug hope you feel better soon xxxxxxxxxxx
Millykins, glad things are getting better. Tosh about Emend, I’ve got it for first FEC with odansetron and some dex which I hope to hardly take day 2 and 3.
Dima…temp coloured my hair mahogany yesterday and now have nails to match. Think it’s the -T that hammers nails but what the hell. I hate nail varnish though. No idea when I’ll get in for my wig…will put it off til before FEC2 if I can (as they turned up at the clinic with the wrong sizes first time). Be thinking of you tomorrow. Got to revisit the s*dding dentist before 9 to file a tiny filling flatter that fell out (preventative dentistry from my early teens )…so it’s sticking up and horrible, then straight back here…nurse is coming at 10 with her needles. Not that happy and quite like just to run away. Prospect of the cold cap with a forecasted 3 degrees filling me with joy :S. Best wear some winter clothes!
Displacement shopping today, spent far too much but better then talking to the walls. Good luck x
Reeb…lol. We have 2 border collies and if I let them out first thing (mostly weekends) I often just stick a dressing gown on and jacket over the top. One neighbour and they don’t do mornings (I agree). Never been caught yet.
Oh and julie bt Leeds/York is quite far north. Birmingham? May need to be a north meet and a south one if many are north of Leeds?
Now back to worrying about tomorrow.
Oh and Dima, the milk thistle was me…they have it in biggish Boots. Supposedly 250mg 3 times a day (the tabs are 300 so a bit of a fiddle). My onc nurse seems keen on them. Also going to take aspirin (1/2s) to try and reduce chemo fog starting first thing tomorrow.
