Janette I had first Fec yesterday. Left hosp at 12and was so sick by three. Was sick about ten times. Phoned the out of hours and they said it sometimes happens like that. Just to take sips of water and see how it goes. My husband was about to phone the emergency doctor but I felt a bit better then and managed to get some sleep. Woke up ok during the night and also this morning. Was sick a couple of times this morning but have had a gd sleep now and a feeling a lot better. Fingers crossed. Didn’t know whether to post this message but I think we’re all being honest here. Will def insist on the Emend next time . Hope they get u sorted out and hope I don’t go downhill again.
Good luck
Trish xxx

Hi karen
My name is kim just incase i facebook request you, you know who i am. X good to hear your ok with not to many se’s. X
janette and trish can i just ask what anti-sickness they have given you to take home and do they give you aprepitant through the drip 1st 1/2 hour before chemo because being sick 10 times seems a bit excessive so do ask ( shy bairns get nowt)please dont suffer xxJulie
Trish,
Sorry to hear you were so sick. Fingers crossed they can give you something to stop it next time. Definitely be honest about it on here as if there are only ever people posting who don’t have sickness, it would come as a shock to those who are sick after chemo.
Hope you soon start feeling much better.
xx
Trish So sorry you were so sick - trouble is you can’t exactly keep down anti sickness tabs if you’re busy chucking!!! - I got some melting ones as at the weekend for my “normal” bug sickness not chemo but they made me a bit trippy in the night. (they are used in higher does as anti psycotic drugs) - BUT I have always said I appreciate this site for people being honest about everything so you REALLY know what to expect

Trish, I was sick a couple of times after my first FEC. I told the oncologist when I had my appointment and since then they’ve given me IV cyclizine at the end of each chemo - just takes a few extra minutes. That seems to have done the trick as I’ve only had mild nausea each time since then. Different hospitals seem to use different drugs, but definitely tell them what happened to you because 10 times does seem a lot. Hopefully they can give you different or extra anti-sickness drugs. Hope next time will be better for you.
Amanda
Sorry it’s been rough Trish…what DID they give you in hospital? I took Emend an hour before FEC 1 today and 6 dex. I asked why she wasn’t giving me Odansetron. She said it wasn’t the prescription. So I queried it, got the prescriber’s info from Merck up on the laptop (my first degree was pharmacology) and she got a random pack out of the car, so took one of those and another for this evening. Then tomorrow Emend and a smaller dose of dex, then just Emend on Thursday. Of course my hit time will be 5ish…think keeping busy is order of the day :/.
I’m trying to warm my brain up still and moving about and drinking loads of ginger tea. Got the score sheets here which are interesting for how people cope with chemo. Need to get less than 17…
The cold caps worked great for the first two, then the third was a bit big but ok…then mayday the last too small so it was dunking in the wash hand basin and a bag of broad beans under a towel. So not expecting it to work very well, but we’ll see. Lol.
Thinking of you Dima. Hope it’s going ok
Hi Trish-you poor thing!!! Demand antisickness drugs in copious amounts next time!!! I haven’t started yet but my chemo nurse said there is no excuse for actual vomiting with all that is available so make sure you get the lot next time! Big hugs-hope you’re feeling better!! Xxxxx
Hi all,
Hope you’re feeling a bit better Trish. I’m glad that we’re all spilling the beans here. I’d hate to be sick and think i’m the only pinky that turned green! Proves the point that we’ll all react in different ways. They have got that bit right.
Tamoxifen… I had it for 5 years. I didn’t have any major probs at all. Hot flushes at night, but i’m not totally putting that down to the pills. At 42 this may have started anyway. Periods lighter, but still very regular. Nothing else to report.
Question… When do they tell you what anti-sickness meds you are having? All that was said to me was that i’d be given some, no mention of what. I didn’t ask… derrr. Is it mixed in with the chemo itself? I wonder if it’s too late to ask for Emend now.
Thanks everyone. XXX
Ladies, can I join your party??? (I take it the pink road has something to do with FEC?)
I am 33 from central Scotland and had my first FEC (of 3 FEC, then 3 Tax) two weeks ago. I too was very sick afterwards (5 times over next day and a half). Had to get the doctor out for an injection and another prescription for anti-sickness drugs which meant 3 in all. Hoping that next week they will give me something different knowing what happened last time. But saying all that, I have not been too bad otherwise (bit of a sore mouth but ok) - Touch wood!
I have noticed my hair starting to fall out a bit though which is v v worrying (wore the cold cap). I thought it didn’t start to fall out until 3 - 4 weeks after treatment??? I have got a wig already sitting in its box) like a hibernating animal! But really hope I don’t have to wear it. I feel so so stupid focussing on that! I am newly single and am keen to get back on the dating scene when all this calms down. I can’t do that with a bald head, or perhaps I could and pretend I’m a big Star Trek fan!!!
Love hearing all your stories - some are scary but in the main it is good to hear that others are going through the same thing.

minny no its not too late to ask i got it cos i was sick with my 3rd Fec but wished id asked for it earlier I was also given ondansatron ,metochlorpramideand dexamethasone and also had aprepitant i/v with chemo 1/2 hr before since then it did the trick but used to take them as soon as i came back from chemo about 3-4 pm ish.and went to bed by 8-9pm so slept it off mostly
