starting my pink road of cemo, 15th nov

OMG !! I think i’ve seen just about everything now. Up popped pubic hair dye too. Wonder if it covers all greys?? xx

Kimmie - just rest & get through today. Good sleep tonight and you’ll feel better tomorrow I’m sure.

Julie - hair colour - someone mentioned to me Naturtint (Holland & Barrett), henna and any vegetable based dye. Don’t know if you’ve tried those?

Luckily G.P decided not to examine me and just gave me prescription for lactulose and suppositories! He did say “I don’t think it’s anything sinister!” I hadn’t actually thought it was anyway because now he’s said that I keep thinking about it! Is that what we’re going to think or what we’ll be told now every time we go to the doctors?!

Big hugs Kimmie - hope you sleep it off.
(Merkins??? Hahaha! There’s a whole new world opening up here!)

Thanks for all your hugs there helping loads xx
What would i do without you all x

Big big hugs Kimmie!

Wow hahahhaha, who would have thought cancer could widen our horizons…can’t believe the first website when googling merkin to appear was Wikipedia, how could we not have known about these before!!

Lou1 - hope things get moving for you so to speak…Dr’s try to sound so reassuring and yet it sometimes comes out as the opposite…it’s like “there are some nasty cells in there, but they’re good nasty cells and we’re going to fix it, just requires a small operation to cut it out…a mastectomy and a little bit of chemotherapy”…how exactly do you have a “little” bit of chemo? and as for a “small” operation…not with the size of my knockers…hahaha.

Cat xx

Hi kimmie - i think we would be a lot more innocent without each other
x

I do to cat
Glad your feeling ok. Bet you missed house gift again today mrs ha ha x

Girls
I go out for lunch for a couple of hours and … a whole world of something I never knew existed pops up on this thread, my I must have lead a sheltered life until now. Haven’t yet googled them but will do when I have a moment that needs a bit of ridiculous… as as for pubic hair dye, per-lease!!

Kimmie - look after yourself xx

Off to google now…can’t wait any longer.

Half way through another week…where is my life going…oh I know! I am a BCCaholic…

Lots of love to all xx

Afternoon from another self confessed BCCaholic - and another with an OH who feels neglected.

Had bone scan today & nearly fell asleep on the table!!! - compared to all the opther crap we have to deal with it was quite relaxing to lie on a table for 25 mins with my eyes shut!!!
also got my new breast friend - prosthesis - feels so good after the softie. OH helped in the choosing & of course had a good old comparitive feel up to check how realistic it was!!! - in front of the BCN I hasten to add!!! - bless him. so feeling much more positive & upbeat today now things are actually happening.
sorry you feel rough kimmie - my ONC said TAX was harsher than FEC but less likely to make you sick being the only good thing about it but that the fatigue was much worse. I think it just depends on you as an individual as to which is worse for you & if you are really sick on FEC then TAX wouldn’t seem so bad???

HUGS to all & thanks again so much for your comments yesterday - It helped so much - back on even keel today
Jo XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Hi jo
Glad your feeling better today.
So the tax is harsher hmm i think the fatigue is going to be the worst i didnt feel like this as quick with fec but aslong as it passes thats the main thing. X

Jo so glad you feel better and so glad you got new boob. I cant wait. Did you have to put one of your old bras on (not that im suggesting you only own OLD underwear) to fit the thing. Think id struggle to get one on for a while. Can you use underwire with them? Hope your leaking less. No further blood for me thank goodness. XX

Jo - glad ur feeling ok today. I know what you mean abou the bone scan - I felt like nodding off as well, she put this really nice music on it was a bit surreal really! I’ve had immediate reconstruction (implant) but am sure somethings going to have to be done with it as its not right plus its an expander one which doesn’t need expanding (I’m really quite small),infact the consultant tried to get something out of it (saline?) and then realised it hadn’t even been expanded! Anyway, I’m trying not to think about that until chemo/rads etc over…sorry, I’ve gone on, what I wanted to ask you Jo is,what is a prosthesis made of? Do they only give you that once a few weeks has gone by?

I had bought a new pocketed mastectomy bra but they just want you to wear a good fitting bra that covers the whole breast - so not a wonderbra!!! - They advise non wired to start with cos of soreness but it’s whjatever you are comfortable in really. even with my wound it is quite comfy but I am happier with it in the pocket than next to my skin as that is more comfy for me. It’s wierd cos I almost feel like I have my boob back - somehow the weight feels just so real compared to the softie & cos it is held in firmly against my body it’s like it’s attached to me. It also warms up with your body heat so doesn’t feel like some cold squidgy thing. Well I’m impressed anyway - after so long without one & the horror that is now my right boob side this is wonderful!!!
It’s made of silicone & feels soft & squishy. they wait til 6-7 weeks after to op so that normally you will be fully healed but even though I am not I can still wear it as I have a dressing over it. I only tend to wear anything when I’m going out & sometimes even then don’t bother - just wear a big coat!!! - easier in winter I suppose

Oh Kimmie you know me too well haha, i’m going to have to shift afternoon nap time, maybe I can swap it with having my glass of milk  Hope you have some more energy soon, stay in bed otherwise that Tax truck might hit you again! Not looking forward to that one in terms of tiredness but I am in terms of sickness…EC #3 next Tues ;-( did you have 4 + 4? Cat xx

Jo - nice you have a new breast…you’ll have to spend some quality time getting to know her!

Sorry you’re feeling rough Kimmie. Hope you start to feel better soon. I have my first TAX (after 3FEC) on 23rd Dec.

Regarding wigs - I told my husband I’d been improving my vocabulary on the forum today. He said he’d remembered merkin from a joke on QI about
President Bush. (to do with how he pronounced something so it sounded like merkin).

Confession time…I already knew about merkins, not sure how, but they were definitely in my internal dictionary!!!
Hope all feeling well today
xxx

in my internal dictionary but definitely NOT on my exterior body…!

Hi cat
No Im having 3+3 hun yes its the tiredness which i think is going to be harder with this one :frowning:

Well…I now know a bit more…mind boggles! Bushisms are famous…I’m not entirely surprised he slipped up…!

Well I have, between emails and phone calls emptied 2 trailer loads of logs for oh to stack…at least we have a well filled wood shed now!

Hi Kimmie,

I’m day 8 of my 1st tax and I feel more tired today than I did last week :-(( have you experienced achy bones yet? I also had crushing head aches day 5-6 which have now passed, thank god. The more I read about tax I’m hearing it’s a very hard chemo but on the up side it’s also the gold star one too! So at least we know it’s doing it’s job!!

Hang on in there and let me know how it’s going…,

Sarah xx
