Staying Positive

Hello lovely ladies,

I recieved my diagnosis in October 2020. I had multiple focal invasive breast cancer. It was stage 1, grade 3 and 8/8 oestrogen positive. A year later I found out I carried the BRCA1 mutation. I was 43 years old and discovered my first tumour myself. It was up towards my collar bone! Thankfully I found this as I was too young for routine mammograms. It’s been quite a journey with 4 lots of surgery and the aim is for 10 years of hormone treatment (zoladex/ Tamoxifen followed by letrozole them exemestane plus 6 monthly bone infusions).

Over the last year I decided to start writing a journal retrospectively about what I’d been through. This massively helped me to process things and realise how far I’ve come! I then decided to write poems about different aspects of my journey too. Something I’ve never done before!

With encouragement from friends and family I put my poems together in a book to sell with all profits going to 3 cancer charities, including breast cancer now! I’d have been lost without these charities. When I think about my journey doing this has helped me feel positive.

My book is £5.95 including p&p and I’m hoping it will offer comfort and positivity to other ladies going through this journey. I have a website where you can find out more www.jsrackham.com/poems

This journey can definitely be a tough one. I do my best to live in the moment and take each day as it comes. Thank you for reading this, sending positivity and hope your way xxx
