I am due a stereotactic core biopsy, if it is determined that it is not cancer can I insist on a full MRI body scan with contrast as I have lumps in my bowel and sharp discomfort in my ribs.
Hi Za
Thanks for your post.
You say you’re due to have a stereotactic biopsy and are asking if you can request a full MRI body scan if the biopsy results are benign (not cancer).
The results of your biopsy are discussed at a multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT) by the breast care team and a management plan agreed. It’s important to discuss any concerns you may have at your results appointment, as they will be able to talk through the reasons for their decision in your individual situation.
You’re welcome to call our helpline if you would like to talk this through or have any further questions. The helpline team have time to listen, talk things through and signpost you to additional support and information if necessary. Your call will be confidential, and the number is free from UK landlines and all mobile networks. The number is 0808 800 6000, (Relay UK -prefix 18001).
If you would prefer one of our nurses to call you. Please complete this form ticking the box agreeing to a call back.
