stick on boobs!
stick on boobs! I have had double mastectomy and when l spoke to breast care nurse about stick on prothesis she said they would be no good as l would not be able to get them to sit correctly so would look odd. However spoke to a lady recently in similar position who uses them with no problems so wonder if any other bilateral ladies-or anyone has any good or bad experiences they could offer me.
thanks sharonx
Hi Sharon
I’ve only had single mastectomy but have a prosthesis that can be used with a sticky pad. I do find I have to wear a bra regardless as the prosthesis is too heavy to stay stuck on all by itself. However, when it comes to placing the prosthesis, once you get the hang of where to place your boob it’s easy. I don’t see why your nurse said it would look odd…
I only wear the stick on pad when I wear a bra that doesn’t cover it completely and I’m worried it’ll move or fall out - it’s great to have the option and I really can’t see how it would be difficult to place them symetrically?
If you want a stick-on prosthesis just insist on it - it’s your body!

I am happy with mine Hi Taffy,
I have had a bilateral mastectomy, and wear stick on boobs, and I am more than happy with mine. I am only a size 8 and very slim (I know you all hate me, but I am naturally thin and want to be a bit bigger but not happening)., So my chest area, is thin skin against my ribs. So it is uneven as you can imagine it is just the outline of your ribs.
I have tried the Tressia Contact prosthesis, I found that it did not stick on for long with me when I get hot, and found that I wasnt confident with it. (Some other women I have spoken too, say that they like them and they stick on fine).
However I then tried the Tria Plus self adhesive ones. and well my whole life changed, they have a triangle shaped skin support, that you put on your skin, this has a fluffy side on front. This stays on all day for around 4-7 days depending on how active you are. You then get the prosthesis, which is of silicone material, and it has several pieces of velcro on the inside, it is of triangle shape and hollow in the centre, and you just stick them onto the fluffy side of the skin support, and wehey they stay firm and secure. You can jump up and down and they wont slip or move, (although wait a bit before doing this),
You keep the triangle skin supports on when you have a bath or shower or swimming too, you just take off the prosthesis, and after about 4-7 days you change the skin supports.
The only down side is that the skin supports are in packs of 5 (from Amoena), and cost £12.00 per pack, and as I am bilateral I need two at a time, so I need to keep buying two packs to get the extra one from the other pack). But since it stays in place it is worth it.
I have been wearing these nearly two years and apart from the usual cant get lingerie to fit, (I am sure you have all read the other threads on this!!), I am more than happy with mine.,
I have also just purchased the stick on nipples for the prosthesis, they are good and stay on firmly,. The only down side, is that it always looks like its cold, you know what I mean, so I have to take them off when I am in the house as they do stand out a bit and you could actually hang your jacket on them !!! only kidding but it is the next best thing to getting them to look realistic enough.
Anything else, please ask away.
Carol xx

Stick on Boobs Hi Sharon
Just a thought. I started out with the Stick on 4 years ago. (single mastectomy) but with my big boobs 38D (and the rest at the moment :o((( I had to stop using it as the sizes didn’t go up high enough! Plus I had a dipped chest wall problem which caused it to keep “popping” off … :o))) The point I really wanted to make was that at Amoena they used to give you a “trial period” with the stick ons and if you didn’t like it, or couldn’t get to grips with it, you could exchange it for another one. Worth asking!!!
