Hi Patsy,
I didn’t know whether to write to you on here or the Stoke posting board… this is probably easier!
My periods have actually got heavier too and I came off the pill a couple of months before chemo so I know its not that, I was going to wait to speak to Dr Brunt when I see him next, which I think is around my next chemo but I’m not sure…
Let me know what you find out about it! I just assumed it meant that my body was being an arse! lol

Hi Patsy & Erin
Glad I found this post as I have started period from hell about 3 days ago massively heavy and painful, have had to take nurofen before bed as I keep waking up in pain through the night. Have chemo no 4 next Tues and was going to mention it then, I thought they would have stopped by now not gotten worse.
Let me know if you find anything out.
Ann

hello ladies, hello erin!
my periods didnt stop till quite a few cycles in and also actually got heavier at one point, however i was taking the pill for the first couple of cycles (er- pr-). Also i dont kno how many of you are on zoladex but my onc did a hormone blood test on me and found that even tho i was still having periods the zoladex had worked and i was ‘officially’ post menopausal.
hope this helps.
erin, will reply to your message soon! limited access to email at the mo…

Hi All
I’m due to have FEC no.4 next week and have continued to have periods but I think more painful than normal. However, I’ve suffered in the past from bad pain so difficult to tell if due to chemo or not - might just be a coincidence. Had a seriously painful period after FEC no.2 where I ended up being giving pethadene (not sure of spelling??) and going into A&E after being sick constantly from the pain, but when I raised this with one of the oncologist consultants she just said it was probably unrelated to the chemo and “it was just me” . I think as I’ve had bad period pain previously she just assumed it was unrelated. In the meantime, I’m now starting to take paracetamol in advance of my period to avoid the same thing happening again.
Would be really interested to hear what your consultants have to say on the subject!

Hi
I am on Tamoxifen (3 years now) and I still get periods. Not always frequent but still get them.

Just to add my twopenneth worth! I have just had last of 4 epi ans have had monster periods during it all too! Very weird, without going into details!
I to, was going to check with onc on next visit and haven’t been too worried about it. I have only taken ibruprfen tho as I was told not to take any paracetamol based products as they could lower the temperature and mask infection.
Complete pain tho when you are already feeling lousy to have to cope with that.
Best of luck,
let us know what they say?
Gillian
