Oh deary me…OH rang to say he’d be late home for supper, I’ve had half a glass of wine on an empty stomach and the kitchen is spinning…lol, I’m a cheap date…
My friend Denise had " Always look on the Bright side of life " at her funeral. When it started to play at the end of the service at the Crem , everyone looked at each other and we could do more than simply smile with lots of love in our eyes. She had captured the moment. She was a very much loved work colleague who had 6 children, 3 older with her first hubby and 3 babies as she called her younger children. She was truly loved by so many people and could always tell a funny story and was able to make everyone laugh. At her wake her family had a carousel of photographs on a couple of small screens and each and every picture showed Denise laughing. Funerals are a Celebration of your life so maybe the song I would like at mine is "Spirit in the Sky ". I love dancing to that song! Lots of love to everyone Tracy xxx
At our local crem “I did it my way” is the number one choice…
I’ve only once suggested a family choose something else - baby funeral and the husband had chosen a song called “Alleluia” by someone or other. My colleague midly suggested I might like to listen to it on You Tube… it contained the line “I tied you to a chair, put a rope around your neck, and out of your mouth came the word Alleluia” In the middle of a BABY funeral??? i rang mum… and she chose something much more suitable. Don’t think they’d thought… whereas some of the ones you’ve been quoting, people HAVE thought… My favourite patient wants to go out to Tina Turner (in church!)
Guess where I’m off to? That’s right, the crem…
see you later Aligator Nooooooooooo!
Jane xx
Is there a ‘lost the plot’ bench? Did the 2 things guaranteed to NOT help last night - drinking lots of alcohol and seeing my ex
Feeling hungover, low and not liking myself very much…
Big hugs Susie. We have a Lost Pottery Shed which is full of lace hankies, spoons, calories free nibbles and I’ve just droppped in what medics term “soluable analgesia”. Please don’t beat yourself up, hurl that guilt through the hoop in to the lake where the aligators will eat up. Back to soft drinks today - plenty of them - to flush the grot away, and lots of personal TLC. Hope you have some good people around you.
GIJ totally agree, most people do think what songs they want for the crem - I usually suggest they steer clear of ‘our song’ because it will be forever asscoiated with that occaison… yesterday I was listening to the radio and people had texted in with ‘their song’ and every time the DJ mentioned a title I thought “crem”… I often joke that when my time comes people will want to sing “now thank we all our God…”!! I’m a very bad rev!
Susie, agree throw that guilt away, lake is big enough!!
Horrid day here grey, rainy and cold, still snotty…
I don’t remember any songs during rads, mind is a complete blank obviously just never paid any attention, think I was always thinking about if I would make next bus home or have to wait an hour?? Had rads in the month of June and it rained every single day…
Wore my bargain jammies last night and now know why they were are bargain, flattering NOT!!!
GD decided to run into a wall yesterday so is a mini munster now, looks like she will have a black eye too…she was quite happy though cause she got a new pair of shoes that have flashing lights sooooooooooooo was thinking knee high tights, flashing light shoes and a tiara for our meet up??? xx
my cousin who was a milkman, went out of church to “Ernie, he drove the fastest milkfloat in thet West”!! I couldn’t get there, cause I was having chemo and feeling foul, but I thought to myself “I hope they have that…” and was delighted they had the courage to. He wasn’t a church goer, but the vicar knew him from the pub! Great!
Anyhoo… flashing heels, knee length tights… WHAT a sight we are going to be!!!
RevCat, my extra hours only take me up to 50 odd, so you normally work what I’m feeling tired with! Off now… for a whole week and a bit! Get to see only son and his wife for the weekend, and only daughter and her wife-to-be the following weekend… and bits in between…
wine tonight, methinks, (before folk come for a meeting!)
it’s raining (again)… do I mind? Not at the moment! Kettle calls…
love to all… hope SEs are small…
Jane x
Duck everybody - here comes a big lump of guilt! My lovely friend Lindsey is helping me to chuck it in the lake
Off to the Lost Pottery Shed now for a bit of analgesia and some calorie free nibbles XXX
Millie Only Dog and I are going to interview a possible new family member tomorrow…
grumpy
Rev did you sort out itchy seams??
Oooh Grumpy that sounds exciting! The seams have stopped itching now; a bit of soreness due to healing and nerves ‘nipping’ as they untangle themselves. Because my PS os SO strict on keeping scars taped for three months, I don’t have the velcro stitch problem, cos they are all covered in tape. The advantage (?) is I know what’s causing the soreness this time and know it will soon pass.
Somebody stole my reply to Katy that I posted earlier! It was definitely there before I went swimming. Now it’s gone! Or am I completely losing the plot AND my marbles? Can’t remember what it was except LOL at her description of our Morecambe ‘uniform’ and the image it gave me of us all staggering along Morecambe prom (see my avatar PIC) in the knee-highs, flashing shoes and tiaras. Mustn’t forget the matching onesies that Kay is making for us and the obligatory ( because it’s Morecambe!) Kagouls.
On the FF with myself bench because I managed to forget the little bag with goggles, shampoo, conditioner, hairbrush and locker 50p that I usually take swimming. Now suffering with severe red-eye - look like a bad photo of myself complete with bad hair! I could barely see to drive home, my eyes were so watery from the chlorine.
Ah, we will look A-MAY-ZIMG doing the Morecambe and Wise skip along the prom, pausing to pay homage to the good man himself attried in our onsies, knee-high tights, flashing shoes and tiarararas!
Hope you eyes are better now JCJ. Am just practising my forty flushes which are as bad as ever!
Happy Friday everyone
(pssst, I got the calorie free chips to go iwth the aliburgers at our Founders Birthday Party tomorrow )
Chemo nightmares are bothering me! Couldn’t sleep last night ‘just in case’ I got one. Must have eventually dropped off cos my lovely OH brought me a cuppa before he left for work. Next thing I knew I was sitting bolt upright screaming. Seemed like hours later but tea was still hot. Am exhausted now.
Feeling better 'though 'cos as ever Benchies have cheered me up with the vision of us, in flashing shoes, tiaras and knee high tights (of which, I might add, I can provide sufficient pairs for all as it seems most tights I buy have that quality. I’m not very tall so, logically, I buy ‘short’. Unfortunately the manufacturers seem to misinterpret the word ‘short’ for ‘gnome’) doing the Morcambe and Wise skip down the prom!
Have a lovely day all,
MMM x
milly that sounds horrific, may your dreams soon be happy ones xx
Forgot to say flashing lights were RED…a mini disco on our feet, perhaps??
Love the thought of us doing the walk along the beach, I saw your post JCJ so unless I’m hallucinating…have already lost my marbles…
Another rainy, grey day, it’s windy too but no snow, off for a mugachocco xx
Rev my eyes were watering again this morning! My goodness! (toned down for your ears! ) That mammogram was painful on the ‘treated’ boob!
The radiographer was so sympathetic - which made the tears flow even more. I expected it to hurt a bit, but that just took my breath away. I was very nearly sick! I’ve been shovelling the paracetamol (can’t take anything stronger due to REACT trial!) ever since, so it’s just uncomfortable now. My arm hurts too. She said it would be painful for several DAYS!
On the plus side, by comparison, my Zoladex jab, sans-anaesthetic, this afto, was relatively painless. I expect the belly full of paracetamol helped; and as I said to my daughter, pulling my nails off would have seemed relatively painless after this morning!
FF, I strongly recommend you take some painkillers before you go for yours - or at least have some with you! But maybe you’re not such a wuss as me when it comes to pain?
While I was seeing the nurse, I asked if my Ta’poxy’fen prescription could be changed to 30 instead of 28, and explained about the pick’n’mix brands debacle. She’s left a note for the duty Dr to sort it. She said she didn’t think it’d be a problem.
Right! When does the chippy open? I think I’ve earned them today!!
Oooh! Nice timing. I’ve jsut been invited out for steak night a week on Monday with some ex-colleagues!
I saw my first lambs of the year, in a field this morning too - which made me feel soooo much better. The cute little bundles helped me get through this time last year.
Missed this page before I posted. MMM - you had me laughing out loud at your gnome tights! Sorry about your nightmares - I hope tonight’s won’t include manic gnomes in weird costume doing the Morecambe and Wise thing - though how that’s even possible in knee-high tights without falling flat on one’s face!
Katy, glad you saw my post and I’ve not gone completely round the bend and met myself on the other side!!
On the depressed bench this afternoon… I don’t think the virtual cakes on here and in The Woods are all that they claim to be… Just been to M&s outlet and tried on five pairs of trousers. The usual size seems to have shrunk! Bought nowt.
mammo sounds like torture! Ouchy ouch!
love to all, spoons and lace hankies to those who need them today,
love Jane
JCJ my eyes are watering and ‘Leftie’ is throbbing in sympathy! Sounds awful Hope your pain subsides soon.
MMM - I have the same problem with tights as I am also short (but not Pixie height). I also had a bit of an embarrassing situation after buying some rather sexy lacey hold-ups in the small size…they fell down while I was out (and wearing a fairly short skirt) one evening and I had to hide in a shop doorway and take them off! I still wonder if I’m on CCTV somewhere…
Went to the Big C Centre today - what lovely ladies and so much on offer. Felt so overwhelmed I wanted to cry.
It will be a lovely stop off when I start Rads and also if I find talking to the cat all day a bit much and fancy a human to talk to
Gentle hugs to everyone x
Agree with you JCJ, a bit ouchy as in when will this stop??? Didn’t find mammos painful prior to, so was a shock to the system !! Had to have it done three times as they needed a clearer view??? Fingers crossed for brilliant results xx
Psssssssssssst, Jane, the secret is an ELASTICATED waistband !! xx
JCJ - I rather wish you hadn’t said that!!! I had already decided to take painkillers before the mammo and am going to tell the radiographer to just DO IT, regardless of how much I’m yelling!!! I am a complete wuss and I KNOW it’s going to hurt…a lot.
Really hope that they don’t have to do it more than once.
I’ve just got back from a quiz night where my team and I excelled…oh all right then, we didn’t, we were third from last out of 16 teams. Not very impressive really but very enjoyable especially the Ploughman’s Supper. Although if one of the rounds hadn’t been politics and politicians we may have done better.
Morecambe just doesn’t know what’s going to hit it!!!
