Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Thanks Jane, Ali and JCJ
Sleep well. X

Thought you might all like to see the latest addition to the family - my god-daughter’s new pupkin Eric. He’s a jack russell springer spaniel cross aged 12 weeks. Millie Only Dog just loves him but has to step over him when he gets in the way!!!
what pleasure our companion animals bring to us…
grumpy

Katytc crazy thoughts don’t ā€˜wander’ round my head, they move in, invite their friends, settle down and raise a family! I worry about things (health wise) which I wouldn’t have even stopped to notice before, and I don’t like it! Grrrrrrr…
Poor RevCat, be kind to yourself and rest, give yourself a bit of time now to get well. And MMM too, rotten to have a cold as well as the chemo to contend with. Keep an eye on yourself, remember your care team are there for advice and really won’t mind if you ring (I rang my out of hours nurse once for advice and she chatted to me about her kitten playing with her pen until I was calm enough to tell her what the matter was, wonderful lady)
Yippee for FF’s results and Grumpy’s latest addition! My OH has bought a fancy new coffee machine, it does everything except wash the cups. I’ve had 3 milky coffees today after 14 months caffeine free…can I sleep? Nah. Jitters? Yup. Extra flushes? Double yup. Ah well…

Yahoo be dooby/booby FF, Brilliant news !! A long and nervous wait for you, big hugs. xx
RevCat, stinky, snotty cold seems to last around 3 weeks…so hopefully quiet time now for you, remember you just had an op very recently too so you must look after yourself. !
Same lecture for you too Jane.
Millie, have lots of duvet time, drink lots and phone hos if you are worried.
Gorgeous doggie, grumpy !
Good ST is better now.
JCJ, that’s a lovely gift, the piggy bank unusual and personal, really like that.
Ali, hope your jittering has calmed down now, tee hee, new fancy oven and coffee machine, party time in your house!!!
Have a confession to make…have a dishwasher and have NEVER used it…xx

Well, fear not. You are in the company of one who has been authorised & trained to hear confessions by those who ought-to-know-better! Frankly, that is one of the most awful confessions I have ever heard! What sin, to wash by hand that which could be swished by machine… to put effort into crevaces and crud that the gentle wooshing of detergent and water would deal with whilst you could be sitting with feet up and a muggachino… repent, I say… repent and… oh, what the ****

Pupkin looks fab… bet he/she keeps everyone on their toes/paws!

Ali - on my way for coffee… (after I’ve done the exercises… sigh…)

seeya later ladies

Jane
xx

Never again! Never. I saw one am come and go. Two am, thought well I may as well do my arm exercises while the rest of the house snores (very loudly) around me. Half two…pelvic floor exercises. Three am. Snoozed a bit (tired myself out with a few in-bed sit ups). Dawn chorus. The last time I slept this badly was the fault of steroids (ahhh, except Christmas eve, but that’s my own fault because I get too excited) OH has just bounded downstairs all refreshed to make himself a coffee. I’ll have water thanks!

Hello everyone. I am posting from the comfort of the
C omfortable
R eclining
A djustable

bench. It is heated, padded, has refridgerated pockets and a buzzer for drawing attention when needed. There are scented water sprays that fragrance the air around the bench (which is only big enough for one person). I am a bit whiffy since having my reconstruction and very sore so shall be staying here until I know what is going on. Feeling a little sleepy now so if you dont mind I will just recline the perch, inflate the heated padding and drift of to some white sandy beached greek island for a couple of hours zzzzzz

Nice to see you ST. sorry, you are still on the C. R. A. P. bench. Hoping the bench does it’s job and that you are soon feeling better. I likehte sound of that sandy beach - especially somewhere a bit warmer (but not too hot! :-)) than here!

Grumpy, that puppy is utterly adorable. I expect your God-daughter is going to have to look sharp or Millie won’t be the ā€œonly dogā€ any longer?!

Stay off the coffee, Ali, stick to the chocolate coated marzipan camels for your ā€˜comfort fix’??!

I’m on the smug bench, as I’ve cleaned ALL the windows today. Never done them all in one day before, because we have so many mahooosive ones! Or I was on the smug bench until, as usual, the low evening sun has shown up just how badly I’ve ā€˜cleaned’ the ones in the conservatory. Smears everywhere - and I started with those so the rest of the house are probably worse! Now I’m on the WhatAF***ingWasteOfTime Bench Don’t suppose you have a spare window washing machine, you’re not using, Katytc?

No, I have a window cleaner !! When I first moved in I cleaned them myself and noticed that I couldn’t reach the middle of the window properly, result clean windows with a mess in the middle hence the need for a window cleaner. He will do inside as well as outside, do inside myself did them a few days ago and that’s when I spotted the swelling in my arm !
ST the C.R.A.P. bench sounds pretty good though hope you’re not on it for too long.
Went and had my hair trimmed today, still clumpy and stumpy soooooo hairdresser layered it , clumpy bits less noticeable…
Sun was shining today and as I glanced in the mirror I saw a long black hair on my chin, what I can’t understand is it was at least half an inch long, how could I have missed it and how long have I been going around with it protruding from my chin…yugh not a pretty sight! It’s happened before so always on the lookout for strays, do they just grow soooooooo fast overnight or should I wear my glasses more often??? xx

Katy, these blessed sprouty hairs are soooo annoying. If only the hairs on my head grew so quickly!

ST hope you are feeling a teeny bit better today, and that hte sun is beaming healing rays onto you.

I am snuffling for Scotland - post exhaustion and now got a rubbish cold, grr. All the coughing and sneezing seems to have hurt a bit of my under-boob scar as it has been weeping a teeny bit, back to spray iodine and steristrips… nice. Cold also be due to undisolved soluble stitch, as PS warned me that might happen Seems Ok today thoguh, so don’t think any real damage done.

Lovely weather here. Need to get my hair cut - looks like something out of Worzle Gummage!!

Just dropping off some gingerbread bunnies (reduced in the supermarket with orange bags, others are…) which are ideal for any slightly nauseous chemo benchies, and are cheery enough to bring a smile to the rest of us. Am going to venture out for a walk - maybe even get to hairdresser to book a chop! Away for a few days visting rellies in Midlands. back with more madness soon

Good Morning Benchies, hope you all have a good day! I’m off for TCH4 - last one, hooray!!
Jen x

I hope all those of you suffering from various ailments are going to feel a lot better soon and that SE’s will be few. Yay, to the last one Jen! I will bring tea and cake round shortly.
I went to work this morning (my 2nd job that I just do three hours Thurs. am.) and the colleague that I work with told me that her daughter has been offered a place at the Royal Veterinary College in Sept.
As there were 1840 applicants for 60 places this is some achievement and we (the firm) are all basking in her reflected glory. She’s a lovely girl and has worked SO hard for this. She’s wanted to be a vet from a child, when I first met her.

I’m loving these lighter nights…but…with the weather as cold as it is…it’s snowed today…the heating is on in the conservatory for hours longer. Lovely light nights v higher gas bill. Oh dear. I hope we get a decent summer to make up for this late spring. Perhaps it will stay warm until Nov? Ever the optimist.

hope your SE’s are small ones Jen… and that you have a good time RevCat and feel better soon…

tea and cake greatly appreciated FF… just home from work… on call… BUT … tomorrow is a day off! (on call again Sun/Mon) Really looking forward to not setting the alarm and vegging a bit in the morning before I’m sociable…

the daffs are looking lovely in Benchland…

Jane

The pupkin has been christened Eric cos he has short fat hairy legs, and the family didn’t fancy Ernie!!! Think Morecambe…
Why does cold weather make my boobs all ache and itch???
grumpy

Yay for last dosing, Jen! Is that LAST last or last of that flavour?
Well done to your colleague’s daughter, FF, Sounds like a good person to know if ever the camels get sick?
Another cautionary and amusing tale to remind us that not *everything* is related to BC or its treatment. I have had a small round wwound on my shin for ages now. It doesn’t hurt, isn’t getting any worse, but it was worrying me because I didn’t know how I got it and it doesn’t seem to be going away. I’d been more-or-less convincing myself that it was just my oestrogen deprived body being slow to heal when all of a sudden, yesterday, I saw lots of purplish painless ā€˜bruises’ all around this wound. They were long streaks. OMG! I started to panic that they were varicose veins, or some sort of hemorrhaging or something brought on by Tamoxifen or REACT drugs. Should I phone BCN? Should I get doc appointment? Should I phone REACT trial nurse? Should I go to A&E? Keep calm. Don’t panic, don’t panic (Mr Mainwaring)

I don’t know why, but I licked my finger and rubbed at one of these ā€˜bruises’. It disappeared! Then I realised I’d got hot (well THERE’S a novelty??) whilst wearing brand new black jeans and walking gaiters. the dye had come off the jeans on my sweaty leg! Thank goodness I DIDN’T seek medical advise? *blushes*

tee hee JCJ, how the mind works!! Such a fine line we tread and how panic stricken we get…glad all is well !
Jenanne, hope you are doing ok and ST hugs to you, hope your op is fine today and results very good (read your thread) xx
FF that’s excellent, fantastic when someone reaches their goal, everyone must be superly pleased!
Eric is just gorgeous !!
Enjoy your break RevCat, hope you will be spoiled, laughed re worzel your hair has grown much faster than mine and you had chemo!! PLeased with my haircut, looks like stumpy, clumpy is a STYLE !
Lots to do today but going to sit on the ā€œCBAā€ bench for a while…trying to work up enthusiasm, NOT HAPPENING xx

Thanks for the tea and lovely cake FF.
GIJane I hope S/E’s on this last chemo are few…I’ve found TCH a lot easier all round than FEC.
JCJ , I start 15 rads on 29th April, then go on with herceptin for a year. I can’t wait to go swimming again after rads, and I am really looking forward to getting out and about again!
Rev have good break. ST hope you’re ok, and Mandy that your cold is going.
Regards to all, Jen.

Nearly there then, Jen! General consensus seems to be that rads are a walk in the park compared to chemo - so the worst is over. Whoop! Whoop! Take it steady though, your body will need time to recover. Don’t overdo your new found out-and-about-ishness!

I’m on the guilty bench. Just spent 2. Days reading Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. Housework? What’s that then?

I found a new cake receipe, that the family are raving over! It’s Raspberry and Blueberry Lime Drizzle cake. It’s really delicious. Got to make another one over the weekend!
how nice to feel like baking again!
Just sorely peely underarm to clear up now.
hugs to all
