It’s SNOWING here…
Forgot to say grumpy babies will be on their way to you now JCJ for pacifying, glad you had a lovely time xx
I’m waiting for ES TO GET OUT OF BED AND MOVE HIS CAR OUT OF MY %&£#-+* WAY! He should have left 3 hours ago but he’s still in bed - blames it on how cold this house is at that time in morning! Well, I’m sorry your FREE roof isn’t to your liking GRR. Going to have to move his oober exensive Jaguar myself at this rate. Ooh the joys of motherhood??!
can you “borrow” his car for the day? Compensation? tee hee!
Tee Hee excellent idea “borrowing”
!! That would wake him up!!
Bottom firmly placed on the “childhood” bench, GD decided to open a flower shop so we have made 84 tissue paper flowers…and it’s only 11.06, pink, yellow, green, purple, blue and red, she’s in the middle of rearranging my living room to accomodate flowers and shop wonderful imagination, having a wee rest and a cup of tea xx
Aw a flower shop how lovely
Maybe one day I’ll have grandchildren
Now there’s a cheery thought!
Sorry I was a grumpygrouch … it’s all such an arse creaming several times a day! Wouldn’t be so bad if I was on holiday in the sun! Just gets me down … I know I’ll get there … am just impatient!! Anyway … thanks for your good wishes everyone.
Well have I been busy today!!! I can SEE the bottom of the laundry basket I.e. it’s EMPTY!! How long before lovely daughter fills up??? But wanted to BRAGGGGG cos it doesn’t happen very often lol!
Have a nice thick homemade vegetable soup all made for tea and the bread maker is on the go… We have colds doing the rounds in our house now … am NOT going to get it… am in fighting mode now!! Might even make a rice pudding… !!
Katytc - I think we were competing - flushing buddies! Tho sometimes I get cold flushes… followed by hot ones!! Think i need my thermostat sorting out!! OH is not best pleased at bedcovers on then off all night long!
JCJ - Bet ES soon leapt out of bed sharpish when he heard his car!!
right that’s me done… knew it’d be fatal sitting down with my hot lemon & ginger! *yawns* might have to rest my eyes… zzzzzz
Lozza. I’m starting rads on 29th - hope I do OK. I keep thinking of the time when I was 15 and got badly sunburnt - hope I don’t get like that again!
JCJ, I downloaded Woman in White by Wilkie Collins too - haven’t read it yet - but I read The Moonstone, which is considered the first detective novel in the English language.
Jen
My computer decided to restart in the middle of this post so I reposted the complete version below!
Thought I would give you a chuckle with my profile photo. When I got my wig I got my daughter to take photos of me with the iPad so I could see how I looked to everyone else. this short brown wig made everyone, including me, laugh. They all thought I looked like Marjorie Dawes, off the Little Britain programme!

Jen, make sure you have many hours available for Woman in White - it’s a BIIIG book and I couldn’t put it down! ![]()
Just threatening to move ES’s Jag made him get up! Quite glad he moved it - I’d have been terrified of reversing that monster off our drive - especially as it’s only 2 years old and immaculate, not to mention twice the size of my little Fiesta. It’s got a new fangled key, anyway, and it’s automatic, so I’m not sure I’d even have been ABLE to start it! (Being a middle aged fogie and a woman too, of course!)
Jane, if you plug your kindle into your computer with the USB lead the Calibre software will recognise it and automatically convert any books to the right format for it.
I found out about Calibre from “Free books for Kindle: The secrets of how to get the world’s greatest books for a radical price” by Chris Graham. A lot of it is about books in America, and only the 2012 version has been updated for UK users - but it only cost me £1.75 to download it and there’s loads of information in there! I’ve saved 10 times what I paid for it already.
I’m on the DesperatelyTryingToStayCalmAndHoldMyTongue bench as BIL is here and he’s done nothing but pick arguments with me - totally ruined Steak Night at our favourite pub (having ordered one of the most expensive things off the menu, while we were having the steak night £5.95 special :() When I said I’d had a long day and didn’t want to argue he started shouting that I wasn’t respecting his opinions just because I didn’t WANT to argue with him, and why should it be all about what I wanted? Why should everything be run by my rules? To which I think: “I’m sorry (heavy sarcasm)? What about all the other people in this pub who want to enjoy their meal without a full blown row in the corner??” Now I daren’t say anything and I’ll be accused of ignoring him. Really don’t need this after a long day back at work (though at least I was out of the house and can be again tomorrow! ;)) Soooo glad he didn’t come here at Christmas! I don’t know how long he thinks he’s staying either!
*Adopts yoga position* OHMNNNNNN
PS EXACTLY like Marjory! Tee hee hee!
Mmmmm reading - don’t mind if I do. Read “A Street Cat Named Bob” (real, paper book) on journey south and 75% of “A Thousand Splendid Suns” on Kindle (other e-readers are available) on journey back north. Finally getting back into reading two years after end of chemo but like others wonder if Tam addles the grey cells too.
As for flushes… forty thousand splendid cardis/fleeces or some such…
Nice to be home. Little laugh for you… was visiting mother down south, she had fridge full of goodies on Saturday and offered choice of key lime pie or choc eclairs… chose pie. Went back on Sunday and it got to tea time - sorry, no choc eclairs, she says, I ate them both last night! Ha ha ha, that was sooo funny… so had to eat coffee walnut cake instead…
Loving the book recommendations.
Hugs to all who need them, and best wished to all being zapped, drugged or other nasty-but-necessary procedures.
Tee hee hee Kay and RevCat says me smiling broadly
!!
Lozza know where you are coming from because I’m freezing cold all of the time apart from the flushes
! Favourite words “it’s so cold, I’m soooooooo cold etc” on and on I go…am sure I get on everyones nerves.
JCJ, bite your tongue and smile sweetly, that may just confuse BIL and get him to stop, if you don’t take him on he can only argue with himself
!
Sunny day here off for a little shopping then into the Museum and library (GD’s favourite places), tomorrow we take the train to another town, she gets sooooooooooo excited and thinks we are going to another country!
Two weeks now and then off to another country for real…it’s 25 degrees there today…can’t wait xx
Fortunately, I’ve not had to chew my tonge to oblivion. BIL fell asleep in a chair almost as soon as we got back from pub, then went up to bed about 9pm. He was obviously up in the night because the bathroom, his bedroom (when I say ‘his’, I mean MY sanctuary, where I chill out from the world with my kindle/tablet pc/knitting/recorded TV progs and escape OH’s stentorian snoring!) and the kitchen lights were ALL on when I got up, and the front door was unlocked. Luckily, neither of them surfaced before I left the house for work.
I’ve just got home. As I pulled onto the drive, I received a text from OH to say BIL not here for dinner tonight and that OH will be back around 6pm. Don’t know if that means BIL has -------- off back home or what. I found the back door WIDE open, the computer and record player and spare room light still on. House reeks of cigarette smoke and he’s used one of the best bone china saucers as an ash tray, to smoke in the bedroom, so now my daughter’s teddy collection all stinks. Honestly, I could weep.
No doubt I’ll be told “we don’t all have to live by YOUR rules” if I try to suggest his behaviour is unacceptable.
In other news … I had a lovely day at work! ![]()
JCJ, Your house, your rules, as simple as that. If he wants to smoke tell him to bu**er off into the back garden with it, and if he sulks tell him its time he went home. If OH doesn’t back you up HE can get the fag smoke out of the teddies and all the fabrics in your house… I suspect him being late home was his way of keeping out of BIL’s way?? What a rude and self-centred way to treat your hostess!!
Yippedy do dah! He’s gone home. I have stripped bed and deployed the fabreeze. Can still smell the smoke but at least I won’t be verbally attacked tonight.
I suspect OH deliberately kept him away from me today - suits me fine.
I can feel the relief! Phew! Well done - you survived (again!)
thinking about holidays… and warmth… but the first one is to Northumberland (a caravan) in early May, so we might still need the hotties…
take care… going back to the Midwives…
Jane xx
JCJ - glad to hear you’ve got your house back. Hopefully he won’t be back anytime soon.
Spent a busy day being a taxi service and now back from family gathering to celebrate son’s birthday. Had a lovely time but oh the relief to get my clothes off and get into jim jams and fluffy dressing gown!! I am sooo sore :o( Not used to wearing a bra all day!
The good news is surgeons have put hubby on waiting list for hernia repair. Maybe once all that’s out the way then we could think about a holiday!! He reckons the waiting is about a month so we’ll see.
Night night ladies - think I’ve finally caught me a sleep faery so gonna make use of it.
Squishy hugs to all

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye…yippeeee JCJ!
Kinda struggling with “before the poison” Peter Robinson…hope it wasn’t a fluke reading around 5 books one after the other
! Call the Midwife is on the bookshelf, pending!
Love my jammies and dressing gown too, we all call it a “housecoat” here, glad your OH is on the waiting list now!
On train journey soon, then a wander around the shops and back home in time for tea!
Museum, library then swimming yesterday all went well, looked atlots of “beasties”, tried on helmets and played with 30’s toys, good fun, BUT there was an exhibition of art one was a mother captured the week before she died??? Speedy about turn and exit!
Have an appointment next week with Lymph Nurse, if it’s not lynn visiting what else could it be?? xx
Katytc - Have a lovely day today - gosh you were busy yesterday!! Glad you’ve got your appt sorted, sling them scary thoughts in the alligator lake. Sending squishy hugs (go gently please!).
Me? I’m gonna *ahem* swing loose today - think 16 hours encased in a sports bra yesterday was too much!
with a bit of luck, cream, massage … it’ll sort itself out… it’s all so frustratingly monotonous! Am so looking forward to ONE DAY being able to wear underwired bras cos I need the support! Grrrr
Rant over … gonna go be productive and get both slow cookers on! Have a good day everyone
Hugs to all ![]()
Lozza x
Thank you Lozza
!! Was not quite superwoman yesterday as I wasn’t in the pool, had a nap late afternoon and went to bed just after nine last night
!
Enjoy your “looseness” tee hee xx
Lovely spring day here! Have just been for a hair cut (how I used to take such things for granted, even moan about the time it took!!) anyway had a mini revelation. Only a mini one so don’t expect any earth shattering wisdom here, remember I’m the lady who talks to imaginary camels.
ANYWAY have been trying to grow my hair back to its pre-chemo style, shoulder length dyed bob. But realised today that suited the person I was then, not the one I am now. So I’ve had a short, layered crop…my hairdresser even used the term “funky”. She also said my new hair has come back darker and with less grey in it. So what with the “funky” and the less grey I came home a very happy lady. May change my name to Funky Ali (teenage son is rolling his eyes, apparently no-one says funky, unless they are very much not funky, and then they do) ![]()
