Stop feeling guilty, small rant (BENCHLAND) (Part 1)

Not heard anything further about GD’s bruised foot so presume she is doing ok.  SIL’s mother is leaving hospital and going back to her home tomorrow, so that’s good news.  Fingers  crossed for your ED Katy.

The fog has gone but it’s been soooo cold today, a wind that could cut you in half.  Only went out to go to school, which again was reasonably tidy so got a few extra jobs done.

Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, I hope so.

Youngest GS’s birthday on Saturday , so there will be cake in the shed and then again on Wednesday as that is eldest GS’s birthday.  An expensive four days!!

The “loch” was quieter tonight. No so many brave souls prepared to face the freezing northerlies? Another mile done. It was soooo hard to drag myself there. So tired.

Hope your daughter gets her place, KTC. Remind me, is this for teacher training? Or a job? (If it’s the former, she’s a mad fool! :P)

Ooooh yum yum cake in the shed soon???

My two grandchildren’s birthdays are 3 days apart so know exactly what you mean FF haha.

Glad you have not heard anything about GD, no news is good news.

Oh, JCJ you must have been freezing, make you swim faster, perhaps?

Since I said there is no fog here, it’s been foggy ever since:smileyfrustrated:, typical, it’s soooooooo cold, -3 degrees all day brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

It’s teacher training, she has options but this is where she wants to go, a lot of people for a small amount of places. She will know sometime in March.

Yummy yum takeaway tonight, having a curry:smileyhappy:!

Feet still ouchy not quite as bad which is one thing I suppose:smileyfrustrated:!

Finished book can’t believe she got away with it, soooooooo shocking xx

Hope this gets through, the electric here is going on and off , sometimes momentarily, sometimes for quite a while.  Got the candles/torches set about the place but it’s quite frightening to realise how much we all rely on electricity and what we can’t do without it, no light, no heating, no tv, no laptop, no radio even my piano is electric!

Sure they’ll sort it out soon.

Milder here today and been raining.  Think I must have missed something Katy.  What book?  Who got away with what?  Please enlighten me.

TGIF!!  Four weeks down only two to go and…three days holiday.

It got through, FF! I hope you’re not shivering in the dark!

Watched the Dimitrov/Nadal match highlights. WOW! What a match. All the sigles finalists in their late 30s! What is going on? I bet all the younger players are secretly screaming “Hurry up and (insert appropriate expletive) off and give us a chance!”

Shan’t bother watching the women’s final. Couldn’t care less which Williams sister gets it.

-5°C yesterday.Brrrr! But milder and raining today :(. CBA bench in my dressing gown it is then! The spring bulbs are starting to come up in the garden and there’s buds on the new magnolia. Longer days and better weather are on their way!!

Didn’t get as bad as shivering in the dark, thank goodness, it was electric on for 30 mins, off for 10 mins. repeated over six hours.  Very annoying!

Well, “Man plans, God laughs” came true today.  Both son and DIL down with heavy colds so I wasn’t going anywhere near their house.  Missed out on the Birthday cake and could only wish GS Happy Birthday over the phone.  I was peeved, to say the least, but I can’t afford to catch a cold. Sent card and pressie over via daughter who decided to risk it.  Also for other GS who’s birthday is Weds. just in case. Making no plans for that yet, will wait and see.

Told daughter to grab some cake and put it in the shed for you :smileyhappy:.

Yay, Serena!  No 23!  Mens single final tomorrow and tbh I don’t even know who’s in it.  Since Andy went out I’ve not been bothered but I will watch it. When I’ve finished posting this I’ll have a look and find out who it is.

Spent most of the day on the reading bench and plan to do the same tomorrow.

Good luck tomorrow, Ali, let us know how you get on. Maybe you can just stop the meds (though I’ve been told I’ve got to take them for another 5 years!) Fingers crossed your problems can be sorted without cause for drastic measures, too, Walkabout.

I’ve spent most of the day on the Mr Futon listing bench because OH is chucking out a load of sheet music. Classical piano stuff: Brahms, Mozart, Debussy, Schumann, amongst others. If anyone is interested let me know and I’ll send you the link(s). 50% of proceeds going to Macmillan.

Also sat on the (blue) tennis bench for the highlights of the men’s final. Wowsers! I agree with Federer: it’s a pity they couldn’t share the title.

Now retiring to the reading bench. Really enjoying Captain Lacey’s Regency mysteries. I bought a 3-in-1 book really cheaply for my Kindle (other…) brilliant.

Fingers crossed Ali for tomorrow and for you too walkabout.

Aaaah what a shame FF, but def better to stay at home, just enjoy your quiet time, reading etc…

Hope Mr Futon does well for you JCJ:smileyhappy:!

Will need to stay away from the shed as have just eaten a whole bag of choc sweets, bad behaviour indeed.

Been pretty quiet too, had GD but she is no bother, nipped to supermarket to buy bleach, floor stuff and all those sort of things and funnily enough those sweets just fell into my basket??

Freezing cold and foggy here brrrrrrrr xx

Fingers crossed Ali and walkabout.  Hope results are good.

Mild and rainy here  so feeling so much better. Electric still playing up, the lights go dim for a second and then come back to normal.  I’m keeping the  torch and candles close to hand!

Daughter supposed to be calling in tomorrow, what with all the colds about I’ve not seen her for ten days and that is really unusual.  Looking forward to seeing her and catching up.

Two weeks to hols!

.

Great it’s being investigated Ali and a friendly face was there, makes all the difference, hope appt comes quickly for you.

FF, what’s happening with your electricity??? Sooooooo annoying…grrrrrr!

Well, colds have arrived here too, GS was superly “needy” today, poor wee thing, coughing and snotty!

The book was about Casey Anthony, her infamous trial, and the not guilty verdict, was a good read, told by the prosecutor.

Was out for a short while yesterday, hot choc time, no cakes though, next time we are going to a “fancy” cafe, true decadence, woo hoo!

Been pouring here today sooooooooooo dismal xx

Also glad you’re being sorted Ali, hopefully nothing to worry about, just side effects.  As I know to my cost, the minute anything is “wrong”  we get all sorts of tests, scans etc. because of “history”!  It’s very scary but we do get good treatment.

Electricity is behaving itself now.  The road into town has been closed for three weeks as electric co. are removing a redundant sub-station.  Perhaps that has something to do with it?

Thanks for info about book Katy, will see if I can get hold of it.  Pouring here today too and thick fog again tonight. Supposed to be going to Son’s tomorrow after school for GS’s birthday but will have to wait and see how I feel and what the weather is like.

Glad your electricity is sorted FF, used to make me furious when we had power cuts, was so full of rage for something that couldn’t be controlled haha.

Can post book to you if you like??

JCJ, where are you??

Just a quick nip over to supermarket for essentials, seem to always need them?

But managed to find my way to that shop, only one choc doughnut left, it was mine:smileyhappy:

Munchy munch xx

I’m here. Just struggling to be funny. Work is horrible. Still no O report but Academy big cheese is throwing his weight around and upsetting everyone. I’ll be hugely surprised if we’re all still working there by the end of the summer term! HT still off sick. And we’ve got TWO more weeks after this one, FF! :frowning: Ah well, I suppose you’ll be at work when I’m esconsced on the CBA bench the week after?!

Hope your gynae appointment comes quick and they find nothing to worry about, Ali. Did BC mention the possibility of stopping HT? (2 different uses of “HT” in this post, but I think you all get my drift? :P)

Enjoy the donut, KTC! I just hoovered up a hot cross bun! Yum.

Where are you FF? Oh there you are, hiding in the dark!

There is no requirement to be funny JCJ.  If that were the case then I would have been thrown out of here years ago.:smileyhappy:  Sorry you’re having such a bad time at at work.  Maybe time for a change? There’s a job going at my school, do you fancy re-locating?  Come in here and sit on the whinging bench, we’ll all commiserate and maybe you’ll feel better.

Eldest GS has become a teenager today (where did those years go?).  And he’s nearly as tall as me!  Cake in the shed for you all.

Katy, thanks for the offer, just a little too late. I paid £1 today at the library to get it and will have it on Thursday.

Doughnuts and hot cross buns? I’m still eating up Xmas cake and birthday cake.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah JCJ, no need to say or be funny, big hugs!

Hope things start to improve at work soon.

My my FF, you are quick…haha, hope you enjoy!

GS better today, still a bit coughy, but in a happier mood.

Have stayed in all of today cause it was pouring with rain, then a little windy now freezing, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

How long are you both off for?? We have 3 in service days coming shortly but no hols till the Easter break xx

The children are off for a week starting 13th Feb.  I get three days off.  Then we break up for Easter on the 31st March.  Pre school has had the glitter out again today…just…WHY?

Raining here too, the river I cross to get to school is just over it’s banks, flooding the fields but not the road. Forecast is for more rain tomorrow (and gales) so will wait and see what happens.  It’s quite mild though so I’m liking that.

Much better day today - though this afternoon was very trying due to a couple of children - but big cheese not on the premises so it was much less stressful. Our HT still off sick, so we’re borrowing other primary HTs, on a rota, from other schools in our academy. The one today was really lovely. Positive, supportive comments - makes one feel soooo much more appreciated and capable! He’s going to be with us 2 days a week for the foreseeable, so maybe it won’t be so bad!

We break up for half-term on 17th Feb, for a week, then on 7th April for 2 weeks for Easter. There are only 20 weeks left of this school year. That sounds manageable. Not that I’m counting?? :stuck_out_tongue:

Talking of counting: now 2/3 of the way down the Loch. Just over 7 miles left to swim, so I’m still on target to be in Fort Augustus by Easter. I will, of course, expect a full reception committee. Kilts, bagpipes. Highland flings. The works.

Blowing a hooly today. Glad I’m not in a tent! But at least the temperature has got into double figures and the snowdrops and crocuses are up in the garden.

Glad things were better for you yesterday JCJ.:smileyhappy:

Am an accomplished Highland Flinger, so may just be able to give FF a run for her money, hooch!

Cannot play the bagpipes but will give it a go!

Cullen skink, haggis neeps and tatties, followed by raspberry cranachan and clootie dumpling with lashings and lashings of cream, am I truly Scottish or what??

Kilt will be ordered this afternoon, woo hoo!!

:smileyhappy::smileyvery-happy::smileylol:…

Have you started book yet?? xx

YD been here this weekend. She came Friday night, in time for chippy take away, spent all day Saturday in Birmingham, with a friend from university, and Saturday night, then back here today. She’s just gone home. The plan was to get her friend to help her buy her wedding outfit but she didn’t find anything. They had a good time catching up, though, so she’s not disappointed.

She’s set her heart on a black trouser suit, but can’t find one anywhere that isn’t made of “vile” material or cut in a really stupid shape. I suggested she brazens it out and gets a tailor to make one for her! She says she hasn’t got the b***s - literally! :stuck_out_tongue:

We’ve been discussing the wedding cake. YD is going to make it herself: Bottom tier Coconut and white chocolate. Middle tier chocolate fudge cake. Top tier sherry cake (a sherry-laden boiled fruit cake that is a family favourite) She was struggling to think how to link the cakes together as she doesn’t like icing. Between us we’ve had the cunning plan of building a “fence” around each cake with chocolate fingers - in all 3 colours, one sort for each tier - then putting  a matching wide ribbon around each with a personalised narrow ribbon on top - with their names and the date on. On a tiered cake stand, it should look quite effective, with some silk flowers scattered about?

Now on the tennis bench. Going to be a nail biter. Come on GB!

That’s lovely that your daughter was with you over the weekend JCJ, take your mind off yucky work things.

Shame she wasn’t able to get her suit, fingers crossed she finds something she loves.

Was out for a little while today, am not sure if I have a “bug” but feel soooooooo tired just now, so no hot choc today and a lunch out cancelled for later in week. Don’t feel ill, may be the pain??

Been very quiet, picked up a couple of books last week, am enjoying reading again.

Rained non stop for the last few hours and still very cold brrrrrrrrrrrr. xx
