I was much better about an hour after eating dinner, KTC, so it was probably just low blood sugar, but it was weird because I didn’t feel in the least bit hungry (very unlike me!)
I wouldn’t have read the book if I’d known it had a (very small) section about BC mets. It was a fascinating insight into the life of a neurosurgeon, which I enjoyed reading. It’s only afterwards that the BC part has started playing on my mind! I’m so flippin’ neurotic these days!! Never used to be a hypochondriac!
Well, must away to another day in the mad house. Must remember to clean my teeth this morning: got half way to work, yesterday and realised I’d forgotten. “1/5 for cleanliness!” What a slut. Hastily grabbed mint from handbag so at least it smelt like I’d cleaned them. :smileyembarrassed:
Raining again here today, lovely, I love rain! Not a lot happening, daughter called in. I’m required to babysit youngest GD tomorrow for a short while tomorrow. No problem, just need to be up early!
What is the book JCJ? Sounds like something I would like to read.
Glad you were better after eating JCJ:smileyhappy:!
Oh no, no toothbrushing…
Suitcase almost all packed, woo hoo, only have to put in stuff I use each day, very small amount, have a new case this year and it’s a very fat little thing, reminds me of that mirror when I was trying on trousers:smileylol:!!
Had GS today, such a boy, so loads of vroom vrooms, game of upside down on his head, which he loves and the best jumping off the worktops into my arms…
Decided to slice my finger, ofcourse it would be the lynn one.
The book was “Do No Harm: Stories of Life, Death and Brain Surgery” by Henry Marsh (no idea why I called him Henry Moore - that was another guy! :))
I got it for about £1 on a Kindle deal. Worth every penny! I heard him on the radio recently; he has another book out now too, which I may read sometime, although it may just be more of the same.
Today’s funny at school: Y2 child in a science lesson about food chains (what eats what)
grass insect bird cat dog (edited)
Hahahaha! I didn’t know what to say to her. Just explained that dogs don’t eat cats - they just chase them!
When are you going KTC? Thought it wasn’t until the end of the month: same weekend as the wedding? No wonder your clothes get creased if they’re packed for that long?!?!
Babysat GD for about 30 mins, she was in a mood. A 2 year old having a snit, I found it amusing but it won’t be as funny when she’s a teenager! She cheered up when I put Cbeebies on. Daughter and SIL were going into other GD’s school in answer to a letter about her poor attendance level.
Once again this is a result of no communication within the school. She has an ongoing medical problem. She has a medical exit card that she can show and exit lessons with no questions asked. Her teachers are aware of this but others just look at the attendance statistics. She has had three weeks off sick in two terms. The people that they met today had no idea that she had that card. Her needs were yet again explained.
In the end it turned out to be a good meeting. More help can be offered to her if she wants it (she won’t, she hates anything that calls attention to her). Exams, GCSE’s (still four years away) can be tailored to her needs. School just needs documented evidence. Oh, there’s a shed load of that!
Definitely best to leave the last bit out of the equation, dogs just chase cats, that’s true but loved his/her chain. One of my year 2’s said wolves were cuddly, furry dogs!
Rained all day here, just love it. Hoping for the wettest summer on record, sorry!
Oh gosh! Now I feel really bad. I didn’t mean to offend - quite the opposite - I was pointing out the inappropriateness (impropriety?) of 7 year Old’s contribution to the science lesson - and ended up being inappropriate myself! Sorry, Anna! :smileyembarrassed:
Another mile and a bit swum tonight. Now rounding the SW corner of Guernsey.
No records broken. Nearly had to get out after first 50 lengths due to galloping cramp in both shins and one foot, but I managed to kick it out.
So tired though. Didn’t sleep last night. Stressed. More trouble at work Only 8 working weeks left until a nice long break from it all, and I think I shall be reducing my responsibilities (and salary :() in September. Can’t handle the stress. Life’s too short - much too short in my family?!
Think it’s a really good idea JCJ, the less stress the better, as you say you only live once:smileyhappy:!
How many hours will you do?
FF, glad GD’s school are all in the know now, difficult for children as they do all wish to be the same, it depends on how different the adjustments are. Obviously she doesn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, things may be worked out very discreetly for her, fingers crossed.
Am basically organised now woo hoo, just found out last night we are in the posh bit of hotel:smileyhappy:! YD decided very last minute that she doesn’t want to be here on her own so she is heading for the sunshine too, different country from us. The prices at the same place we are were horrendous, nobody would pay that amount??
Will be appearing sporadically over the next while but will pick you up at 11.30am FF, for The Wedding of the Year.
Sending my very best wishes to the happy couple, have a brilliantly, fantastical time!!
Hope you have a lovely holiday Katy, wherever you are going, I’ve forgotten, if I ever knew! My mind has gone on holiday these last few weeks, I blame the drugs :smileytongue: The posh bit? Ooh la la! I’ll be waiting for you at 11.30. on the day.
Not sure ALL of GD’s school now in the loop but more of them are and hopefully it will sort of seep through.
I’m with Katy, JCJ get rid of the school stress, your life will be better for it, even if a bit of belt tightening is needed.
Our babies are nearly ready to go! They were left home alone last night and I was very worried that something had happened to Babs, but both parents feeding them every few seconds this morning. Lots of wing flapping and preening from the biggest Boblet. Fledging due in the next few days.
Got to get a hair trim today ready for next week. Was going to leave it until after school, in the week, but hadn’t better risk that. Also need to get OH to shift some of the piles of c*** he’s got in the guest bedroom/study/plant growing room (no, not anything dodgy! It’s just there’s a massive West facing window, so he has trays of seedlings starting off in there - for the allotment). Loads of cleaning to do too. Suddenly seeing how much of a pigsty the place is, now that B-I-L coming!!
Caught sight of two pigeons on a roof last night as I left school. One pounced on the other much fluttering of feathers, eggs will be in a nest somewhere. I averted my eyes, such rampant sex! I’m sure the home-owners knew nothing of the antics on their roof! I hope you see the fledging JCJ.
Have a haircut booked for Monday, very overdue but my hairdresser has been on holiday (how dare she) so I’ve had to wait for her to come back.
Lazy day today, read books bought at charity shop this week. Now watching tv programmes recorded in week.
Son and family over tomorrow, he’s going to fix the lamp!
I need to clean my house too, friends from Herts. visiting in half-term but I’ve got time , I’ll do it next Monday if the wedding hangover isn’t too bad!
Son and family over today.Took Son an hour or so to fix the lamp as his first attempt to fix the in-line switch didn’t work. A new in-line switch just not available in our shops down here, so he spliced the wires together and used insulating tape and the lamp now works. I will get a new in-line switch on the interweb and get him to fix that too.
I could have fixed the lamp last week (I’m no stranger to fixing plugs, fuses, wiring etc.) but I wanted him to do it as it was his son that broke it.
So a good day, family seen, lamp mended, only one more week to half-term and friends coming down.
Got to get hair cut after school today - they were closed on Saturday for one of the girls’ wedding! Another one has broken her arm, so there could be a queue. (It’s a no-appointment place because I refuse to pay silly money for a 5 minute trim!)
Meeting tomorrow to discuss my options at work. That’s not going to be a barrel of laughs! I’ll get through it by focussing on next weekend.
Grrrr! Rushed marking. Dashed into nearby market town for haircut. Closed “staff shortage. Open tomorrow.” Walked all round town - all other hairdressers closed on Mondays so no chance of blagging a last minute appointment anywhere else. Will have to shlepp over there again tomorrow. Grrrrr! At least I finally got to pay in BIL’S cheque for rail fare - before he arrives on Friday!! - I’ve been carrying it around for weeks: never near a bank when they’re open! (Who uses cheques these days, anyway? I gave him my details to transfer it online!)
Horrible atmosphere at work. It feels like people are talking about me - but the whispered conversations are probably about something/someone else entirely. I’ll just go and stand by the paranoid bench - won’t sit down: it’s probably booby trapped?!
Dashed into town again determined to get hair cut. Arggghhhhhhh!! Closed at 3pm. It’s now 4. Supposed to be open til 5:30. FFS!! :smileymad:
Found another open hairdressers/barbers and notice it’s also non-appointment. Walk in. Pleasant greeting. Asked to sit in other room and wait. 3 other people waiting for one hairdresser but she’s working fast. Then I look around and notice my surroundings. OMG! Spray paint graffiti, badly executed, all over the walls in a million different neon colours. A huge collection of - presumably empty- spray paint cans in the hearth. Geeez! If her artistic “skills” are like that, what will she do to my hair?? Tempted to run, but I *really* don’t want to have to make a FOURTH trip into town and running out of time. How much damage can she do cutting a few inches off long straight hair?
As I wait, I watch the 2 male biker-type customers leave with their heads shaved. The female customer waiting has an already short, weirdly dyed ‘do’. She leaves with it VERY short. Here goes… My turn…?.. but it’s fine. She cuts off the requested amount and it looks to be even. Phew! Won’t be going back, (it cost more than my usual place and wasn’t overly clean!) but at least I won’t look a fright on the girls’ wedding photos!! One advantage was the mirror. It wasn’t your usual hairdresser horror, but an ornate gilt job with spray paint in random colours applied to the frame and some of the glass. It was so hideous, the apparition in the middle looked fine! Or it could be that I already felt so old and out of place that seeing me look reasonably like my normal self was a relief??!
Meeting with temp HT today. From September, I shall be relinquishing most of my whole class teaching. There’ll still be some cover, “as and when”, but not every day. Less money but much less stress, so I’m happy. When I do cover classes, I’ve made it clear they will have to pay me the difference - I’m determined they’re not going to take the p… Relieved to have made the decision. Perhaps I won’t be so reluctant to go back after the summer holiday? I should also have more time to do the things I enjoy like the library and website.
I,m glad you managed to finally get your hair cut. That sounds a rather weird place you were in, are you sure she didn’t sneak a cheeky tattoo onto your back?
I had mine cut yesterday and I look and feel a lot better for it.
Hospital letter waiting when I got home today. Knew what it was so no panic, just consultant appt on 8th June and hopefully I shall be signed off.
That sounds a really good plan of yours for next Sept. Much less stress and you’ll feel so much better.
