OH has been sent winter fuel allowance forms to fill in. At the top it says “BC required” WHAT??? Govmt cut backs gone mad??? Oh! BC in this case means Birth Certificate - well why didn’t you SAY so??
JCJ, you are funny!!!
Can’t believe how cold it is, where is summer??
Winter fuel allowance, perhaps should be renamed summer fuel allowance.
Glad I did have a sunshine holiday, it just seems soooooooo long ago now xx
Well Ladies you’ve had me chuckling one minute and empathising the next.
Pukey Cat has mutated into itchy and bitey… poor lamb (I mean kitty) has fleas. Oh the shame - she is a house cat, HOW did the little blighters get in? I fear on my feet when I came back from the farm wedding. So, out comes the flea treatment and spray everything in sight … apparently it’ll take two weesk for them all to die. Meantime poor kitty cat is itchy. And the vet was closed for Glasgow fair… how was a mere sassenach meant to know that?!
Quelle excitement today - I was at the launch of a new exercise programme called CANmove which is for anyone affetced by cancer and is a joint venture between the NHS, Glasgow City Council and MacMillan. It is built on the Active ABC course which was done in conjunction with BCC but now opened to all cancer types. We were momentarily starts of STV news! Wherever you are, Look out for this, as it’s meant to be being rolled out across the whole UK.
I probably won’t be around Benchland so often as life is busy and fulfilling, so I need to put my energy there, but be sure I’m only ever a message away if you want/need me and will probably never totally beat the addiction, twitch, twitch…
CSL bench for me today, while also attached to the guilty stool as per usual.
Hugs Choccie xx (and choccie hugs?? :-)) Have a good cry - get it out of your system. I’ll bring you a *cuppa/pint/glass of wine/beverage of your choice* in a bit. (*delete as appropriate)
Cheers, JCJ. Wish a good cry could do it.
There’s just too much c**p going on at the moment and I’m NOT superwoman. Handed in my resignation letter today, really can’t cope with 15 hours in the car to and from work on top of full time job and so many other stresses I’ve had over the last year (just leaving cancer completely out of the picture!)
Choccie, So sorry you are having a rough time of it. Glad you have handed in your resignation. You don’t need that added pressure. Revcat will look out for you on the regional TV news. Looking forward to seeing if you are in shot.I haven’t been in Benchland for a while. In fact I have been nowhere in a while. Just popped by to see how you were all doing. Revcat can you have a word with the man upstairs and tell him we need some sun…soonish if possible.V
Hugs to choccie and anyone else feeling horrible.
Finally got The Missing Docetaxel yesterday and took the last of the steroids, and checked out of FF Bench secure are having replaced the padding I tore out with my teeth, repaired the chains, replaced soundproofing and cleaned the area ready for the next user.
Prolonged Steroid megadoses have done weird things to my head so please could someone direct me to an appropriate bench. For example I just spent 30 minutes frantically searching for paclitaxol in the kitchen cupboards having a panic attack because I couldn’t find it. Paclitaxol is is a chemo drug that I am not having. No idea what I was originally searching the cupboard for, may have been ground almonds to add to a smoothie. Also someone asked for my hospital Id and I gave them the number of a power station steam turbine valve I had been writing about.
Squeakymouse
RevCat who is going to replenish, give us advice and make us laugh??? Keep twitching please!
CM, hope you feel calmer today, first stage done handing in your resignation, hugs to you.
Val very nice to have you popping in, have missed the home baking.
Squeaky you are still sounding a wee bit angry grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Have my GD this week, went into town then along to museum, no dinosaur exhibition so it was very, very boring!!
She enjoyed it though and is now sound asleep, really considering joining her xx
Oh squeaky - stray names and numbers are SO unfortunate to live with!
RevCat… i will try and pop n with spoons and hankies, but don’t think I have your energy/drive to make it ALL RIGHT… I’m afraid “good enough” is going to have to do…
CM - rats… so much to cope with… and yes, there is only so much a girl CAN cope with…
Welcome back Val - keep visiting
Get the disctint impression the Lady Upstairs is not listening about weather… maybe there are more important things on her mind? Like heavenly boobs?
I’m on the slightly p*****d bench… swaying gently… NOT on call!!!
Jane
I had a bit of a count today, and there’s little wonder I’m on my knees. Looking back over the last 18 months I’ve dealt with FIVE major, life-changing and really horrible situations, when even one of them would be grounds for falling apart.
Whoever that man was who said, tritely, “whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” should come a bit closer when I’ve got a thwacking ladle in my paw.
For those that know what happened last August, I got some crap news yesterday, which helped to tie me to the CSL bench. The case is not even being put in front of the CPS, so he gets away with something nobody should be allowed to get away with, and I KNOW he’ll do it again.
Choccie if you find the man I will personally hold him down while we ALL thwhack him!
Same goes for the guy who got away…only I will find something more vicious to thwack him with! V
What has happened to me I am usually quite quiet!
Oh ChoccieMuffin that’s terrible news about the case. Can’t believe it. No wonder you’re on the CSL bench. Send you a massive hug. Surely you must be due some good times after all this cr@p you’ve had to go through. There surely can’t be any branches left to hit on the unlucky tree.
Hope to catch up with you soon. Well done for resigning. Save your energy for other things
Twinky x
Not disappearing totally - just need to make sure my employers get their fair whack of my time!
Anyway, look I found some thwacking ladles… here http://outdoor-kitchen.biz/products/enamel-cookware/1201-white-ladle-12cm-diameter.html enjoy!
Btw you will all be fine without my nonsense, I am very dispensible.
Just quickly topping up the hanky dispenser whilst I’m here… at least there are no fleas in Benchland.
Love those thwacking ladles RevCat, and reasonably priced! I’m grabbing a handful to come to Choccies aid! Getting a couple of those green kettles too, because they look like they could do some damage if wielded effectively!
On the knac**rd bench. Day 3 of first full week at work done, and I’ve run out of steam already.
Only 2 more get ups until NO MORE OVER-EXCITED CHILDREN FOR 6 WHOLE WEEKS!! Sorry, didn’t mean to shout.
ChoccieMuffin - I’ve no idea what happened ( and don’t need to know ) but will thwack with large ladle anyone you want me to. You so don’t need this extra aggravation.
Revcat - Don’t leave us! Whatever will we do without your hankies, spoons, ladles, alligator traps etc. but most of all your your words of wisdom?? I am very glad though that you are in the land of NED and getting on with your busy life.
JCJ - Alright for you, as your holiday starts, my hard work begins! I am a school caretaker and I have to take wooden floors back to basic, re -varnish and then polish (5 coats ), clean all windows, and generally get school into tiptop condition ready for Sept. Fortunately my school has been so supportive of me and have actually employed another person to help me with this.
As to me, 9 days post Rads, skin itchy and peeling, resting a lot and feeling not too bad but back to work next week so will see what happens then.
Best wishes to you all
Take it steady FF! This working malarky makes you realise how far from back to full power you actually are!! I’ve totally had it. Physically and mentally.
My HT asked, today, if I thought I’d be Ok to be full time when we start back in September. All I could say is “I hope so, I’m aiming to be, but I’ll let you know if I can’t cope.” because I’m sooo tired! But we all are. End of year at a primary school is always exhausting - and another 6 weeks rest should make me nearer normal??
A big cheer for all school caretakers! What would we do without them. Backbone of the school. (But YOU don’t have to be patient with children, even when you feel like seven shades of sh**! )
Seriously though, I’m glad you’ve got some help. It’s very easy to over do things. You do need time to recover.
Thanks for the cheers (takes a bow). Yes, I shall take it easy. The person the school has employed to help me is my daughter and I’m really only going in with her, to tell her what and how to do the things that need doing and then watch her do them!. However for insurance purposes I have to be signed back as fit for work to be allowed in the school. Anyway she won’t LET me overdo it and I’ve got three weeks holiday accrued so won’t really be back until September.
I know what you mean about the children and I couldn’t do your job for all the tea in China!! I have NOT got the patience or temperament for it. When I had my job interview I was asked if I liked children so I lied and said yes! I do however see them all (there are 23 pupils in my school from 4 - 11) on a daily basis at the after school clubs. Some of them are real “livewires” and I do not know how teachers do their jobs and keep their sanity (and tempers)!!
Having been there now for four years and seeing what teachers have put up with on a daily basis, I now lay into anyone I hear going on about their long holidays and how they only work from 9-3.30.
Enjoy your holiday, good answer to your HT and make sure you do that if necessary.
Just dropping by with some virtual cupcakes for you - I am baking real ones to take on a long train journey tomorrow to meet the lovely ladies from the September 2011 chemo thread for our first real life get together! (I was a Sept 2010 chemo girl but didn’t join the forum til later).
So, we have…
Triple chocolate
Sicilian lemon
Vanilla and strawberry
Help yourselves! The virtual ones are allerygy and calorie free.
Hope all are OK - had a real nostalgia moment when sequeaky mouse spoke of turbine valve numbers, ah me, happy days long gone… love what I do now, but loved what I used to do too.
Have a good weekend. Altogether now “School’s, out for summer…”
