Stopping chemo

Had WLE 20 aug. Clear margins, no node involved, hormone positive, her2 negative, grade 3. Was borderline for chemo but decided to go ahead and have had 2. I feel so ill and have an extremely bad vomiting phobia. I am almost certain I won’t be going ahead with any more chemo. Has anyone else been in this kind of situation and decided not to continue with chemo? Xxxx

Hi Murphy I have had 2 treatments of chemo and have also felt very ill I have been hospitalised once due to facial cellulitis and severe neutrophenia. Also my body is not tolerating the anti immune injections so now I have to have Piriton when I have them. The Oncologist said he couldn’t give me a full strength dose of Chemo and would dilute it for the second dose.it was either that or it would be stopped.I have been slightly better with the diluted dose although I feel as if my life is on hold because I’m so lethargic.I have read of so many people who have few side effects that I wonder why I’m like this.Is it possible for you to have a diluted dose but if you feel you carnt go on I would totally understand and wish you well in whatever decision you make xxx

Hi zelda, thank you so much for replying. I know from the October thread you have been suffering. I feel such a wimp. I am feeling slightly better today and going to give myself a big fat kick up the backside. I hope you feel better soon too xxxxx

Hi murphy I did reply yesterday but it seems to have disappeared . Hope you carry on , don’t make any decisions whilst your in the 'feeling rough ’ days . We were both similar in our results and We are 1/3 thru and nxt time will be 1/2 through . Your doing great x

You are right debtex, hope you are feeling better, thanks for geeing me up xxx

Hi Murphy1963

We spoke some time ago. I was similar to your results but lower grade. I have been reading your journey. I decided no chemo and will my radiotherapy this Wednesday coming, sorry your having a rough ride of it. People can say things both positive and negative but at the end of the day it is up to you. Listen to your body if you feel it is not right for you do not continue. Every bodies cancer journey is different, do what you think is best. Good luck

Thank you so much for replying hearty. I’ve become more positive over the last few days and defo will be going for my chemo. Day 12 now and feeling ok. I know the pattern now so at least I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel on each cycle. I had heard that the first 4 are the important ones and 5 and 6 were top ups, so I’m thinking if I can get up to 4 I will be chuffed, but I’m aiming to go the whole hog so my last one would be 7 jan. I’ve done 2 and survived  I’m sitting here quite happy today, so I can do this!!!

Hi melykins, I was funnily enough thinking about you yesterday and wondering how things were going for you. How are the wedding preps going? You will be glad to be starting your treatment next week, good luck xx I will start rads in February probably and by march all done yay!!!

Lots of love xxxxxx

Hi Murphy1963

Things are OK l just be happy when the treatment is over. Wedding is back on track again for May 2015. Something to look forward to ? l also been reading up about a plant based diet in the recovery and hopefully long term protection from cancer and green smoothies for the immune system etc. I hope the journey for you and the chemo goes smoothly from now on and roll on March ??

Post chemo weekend here, but it’s my last one! These treads are giving me a lift. I know it’s hard Murphy, I’ve been through a much less struggle than you, but a bit of a mill of high fever, staying in hosptal - anaemia, blood transfusions etc, but this is now the last one. I feel ill, feverish and in pain every time, but it was my last one.
And btw the chemo worked, they found two tumours that weren’t clear on the first scan, but we’re there after the operation, and they arent there now. They are still advising a mastectomy, but the chemo has killed off two 10mm tumours, so it kills off all those other cells flying about!
Stay strong.
Love to you

Hi samntha, thank you so much for posting. Excellent news about your last chemo and it shrinking 2 lumps. It defo makes all the horribleness from chemo worthwhile when you hear news like that.

I have my 3rd chemo this coming Wednesday. I will be going the whole hog with it, really have to for piece of mind. I have been keeping a diary so know what se to expect and when they go again so this gives me something to aim for each cycle.

Best wishes to you with whatever treatment you’ve still to have xxxx
