stopping Chemo

Hi I have stage 2 b Breast Cancer.  I have had 3 Fec chemo and am due to start Docetaxol.  However I have had 2 Episodes of Neutropenia the last one being hospitalised for 10 days. My oncology doctor has posponed my chemo for a week suggesting that they may have to stop all together. Has this happened to anyone else.

Hi Nel. I had one episode of neutropenia on FEC but my blood count was always low and just scraped through on most of them. They gave me the white cell boost injections after my first FEC due to ending up in hospital. I had 4 FEC. When I moved on to doxetaxol my blood counts were much higher and I had no problems however I only had 2 of the 4 doxetaxol due to it not working for me and my tumour started growing again. At this point I think you should listen to your oncologist but if you’re not taking white cell injections ask why not. Good luck.

Hello, my chemo was stopped early I had 4 not 6 because my blood counts were too low. I continued with Herceptin and they brought the rads forward. It is common and they can lower your dose, give you longer in between or us in my case decide you have had sufficient.

I was stage 1 with no lymph nodes involved.
