Storm Riders/A Town Called Determination

Carole - i’ve replied to your email… No chance they are all going into your spam filter…? lol

Be gentle with yourself, Gennie - I’m still getting tired some days and I didn’t do chemo, never mind still doing it! Sorry to hear you have been feeling bad, Ros. Good to hear that you are feeling that you’re getting stronger, Theresa.

Yes, I’m very much of the “If I’d wanted to stay in touch I would” mentality. And I do like the art of letter writing, although the speed of typing an email is also very appealing. I have a feeling that if I did Facebook I’d just forget to log on for ages at a time.

Hope you got my email, Carole.

Eliza xx

Oh ladies, you are suffering:( Chemo is a b@~&%*#, isn’t it? Look after yourselves Gen, Ros, Carole and anyone else going through the wringer.

13 down and cooking nicely now. Skin’s starting to feel sunburned, but not too bad. I mentioned the swallowing thing to the radiographer today, who told me that it was nothing to do with anything they were doing to me - treatment isn’t going anywhere near my throat - perhaps I’m coming down with something! Yeah, coming down with my boxing gloves for you tomorrow if you’re that dismissive again! Grrrr. I know what a sore throat when your “coming down with something” feels like and this is nothing like it - not even in the right place. Double grrrrr.

I’m on facebook, but only so I can see what my “kids” are up to. lol. Don’t look at it for weeks on end and I have to admit, I don’t really get it.

Hey Sal…only two to go Yippeeeee! You are cooking with attitude now, and of course you will have to have some sort of a celebration!!! Bet you don’t feel like alchohol…hahaha…but on Wed…I suggest you force some down…for the greater good!!!awww

Bet Sal does feel like some alcohol! Go girl!

Grrrowwrrr to the rads lot! Topaz is sitting on top of the rads machine with claws unsheathed waiting to swing them big time.

Jings o’michty you’d think they’d learn not to be dismissive. Don’t they know who they’re dealing with!!!.

Ooo, by the way, Yorkie is totally expected to come with a jug of some concoction in November. Just so she’s warned. In fact, just had an idea. You all know your alter egos. Everybody has to bring something from their alter ego. Food, drink, music, a look, whatever. The Storm Riders need to be there in both their ego types. Don’t tell!!! And what if we all bring a wee prop. I mean just a token, like a mock spittoon, or a ladle from the Old One’s kitchen, or a mock up of a cactus. Our Bunkhouse, our territory!

Splendid idea, Carole. Not sure where you go to buy a spitoon though. lol

I think I will have a drink or two Helen. Now I’m off the tamoxifen I can drink again. I really didn’t feel like it when I was taking that.

Glad you had a good weekend Sandra. You did well to stay up to 3am!

Good thinking, Carole. Yes we want to make it “our” territory! Plans are gathering pace…

Glad you can enjoy a glass or two again, Sal.

Eliza xx

never mind a glass or two Sal…get a bottle down you when you finish…get whoop whooping out of there and look forward to having no medical interference for a wee whiley at least.

Oohh got to get my thinking hat of what to bring to the bunkhouse…lots of mad ideas flying around.

Sent you an e-mail with my details Carole.

Sandra x

Well I was thinking about bringing the dregs bucket from under the sink. Don’t ask! Long standing DIY thing not yet resolved…

Steel can dig a mean latrine out back, but maybe we want to discourage her from that kind of thing. Lol.

Hi Folks and thanks for a great welcome!

CaroleD, you ask what is my story. Well, compared to others I feel a bit of a fraud really. I was dx with bc last month. However, I seem to have been caught early through my routine mammogram. I will have wle (along with reduction) and snb on the 17th. I feel very lucky as I didn’t know I had the rotten thing as it is non palpable. I have got on with life since the dx being cheerful and positive! That is why this site is so important, I can sit quietly at home thinking about this awful thing and read about others, and I can laugh and cry without having to explain my feelings to others, or without worrying them, and know that I am not alone. I read about others who are going through so much and the support given by this “sisterhood” is so moving. It is a privilege to feel apart of it.

Anyway, I do hope you all have wellies and thermals for your trip! I am notorious amongst friends and families for needing my comforts so, sadly, the chances of me joining the bunk house would be a bit on the slim side!!! I would be thrown to the wolves followed by my billy can and water bottle! xx

I have just read CaroleD’s comment about digging latrine… breast cancer I can cope with…!! lol

Smelltheroses, what is this fraud thing woman! You dafty! You are what we call “crossing the desert”. Want to go with Rose for your Storm Rider name? Well come and well met! No pressure to come to join in November, but please join us now.

So you get your op next week. We’ll be there every step of the way. Don’t know if you remember but Helen woke up from the op asking about the Storm Riders! Remember that Helen? Now that’s cameraderie!

You are a Storm Rider Rose (forgive the adoption :D). Saddle up and head in for Determination. Your lightening strike is about to happen, and we all know what that feels like.

Saloon ladies, the Old One can see dust rising in the mountain pass. There’s a rider heading in.

Rose it is! I can be very fragrant when it is called for and occasionally a little prickly! I love that song that Bette Middler sings, will listen to it again the lyrics are lovely.
I like being Rose!

Excellent!

Watch out for the next instalment! Very overdue All, I know. But it’s a doozey! Half written then chemo brain brought it crashing over the edge of Black Canyon. I tell ya, when this is over, Steel is planting several sticks of dynamite up Black Canyon’s bahookey (obviously no wildlife will be harmed in the making of this episode and no environmental catastrophes will ensue…) Ensue, is that a word, did I use it right? Blast the varmint to tarnation but this chemo brain thing is a cactus spine too far!!!

c’mere…whispers…ponchocat has been waiting for a blow-in to town - name of nicola - bit of a rough one, fighter, doesn’t suffer fools…I think she’s lurkin’ so keep an eye out - prob has a storm doggy too come to think of it - heinz 57 variety if I know her…mary x

I most certainly do remember asking after the storm riders Carole…and if I’d had lightning my horse I’d have 'stormed ’ right out of there to share grits and coffee at the old uns.

Rose is a good name, as you say soft, gentle with a fiesty kick…that all storm riders have!! Yep join us Rose.

Can’t wait for the next installment Carole. Hope all are holding up ok. I’m to bed perchance to sleep…feeling proper ‘pooped’ today and achey again… so gonna curl up with a vampire book…that should do the trick heheheeh

nighty nighty…oh will deffo bring some sort of cocktail mix to the bunkhouse parteeee!! A heinz variety eh!! sounds mighty interesting!
Helenxx

Ah hah! That’ll be what Sheriff Dan was wondering about. There’s been somebody hanging around out near the mine shaft. Causing no trouble but camping out there. He called Bilbo in yesterday when she was passing and asked about it, but nobody’s got an inkling. Except the storm dogs know.

Well, no trouble, no problem. Let whoever and the dog come in when they’re ready. There’s plenty of room, the crops need tending, and there’s the festival coming up. Oops, forgot to mention that did I? Pink and blue ribbons and a big trek round the prairie. And some smooching. I luuurve smooching!).

(I did say I was behind on the writing - not on the ideas though! Keep watching)

Vampires - gimme your list of recommends Helen. Did you watch Interview with a Vampire, or read the books? Yeah, yeah, I know, we’re a bit batty. Not goths though! Erk, not that I’m a gothist! Love goths!!!

Just listened to the Rose, Bette Midler song. That is lovely!

I learn so much from you all. Things I’ve never read, never heard, thoughts I haven’t thunk. Thank you as always.

I think we should take some of our storm dogs to the bunkhouse - then we’ve got an excuse, and something to blame for the "other " side-effects ! Not the snoring obviously.
Have got #2 CMF of cycle 2 tomorrow - as you so rightly said Carole, that will be 8 out of 12, and that sounds much better - I wonder if I had a downer this time cos they told me I had an extra cycle ?

I love that song, I’m not a fan of Bette Midler but I do love that song.

Welcome to you Rose. We’ll have no fraud talk here. Why fraud? Anyone treading this path, whether the long windy route or the shorter ride is a Storm Rider if they want to be. If you’re facing surgery next week listen out for the sound of hoofbeats going down to theatre with you because we’ll all be there in spirit. See any silver flashes and that’s me and my silver spurs.

Speaking of which, I’ll have to decide what to bring to the bunkhouse as my Riviera contribution. Oh how disappointed you’ll be when you realise what a scruff I really am lol.

Now these vampire books. I’ve seen these on the shelves and my teenage neices read them. Are they any good, I assumed they were aimed at teen audiences so haven’t bothered but if they are worth a read I’m up for something new. DH and I were big fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel (mmmmmmmmm Angel, mmmmmmmm Spike) is it a similar thing?

I’ve just finised a very good Marian Keyes book called This Charming Man. A spot of chick lit (careful how you say that) with a serious theme behind it. Now going on to a Medieval whodunnit for a change of pace. What is everyone else reading? Books are my passion, I’m always on the lookout for new stuff to read.

Right, I’ve finished watching my recording of Ross Kemp investigating pirates. Not a parrot or treasure island in sight, most disappointed. Off to bed for this weary rider. I don’t think I ever fully woke up today.
