Storm Riders/A Town Called Determination

Hi Helen… really relieved - i was quite concerned especially because my ears have been playing up as well… Imagining all sorts was going on in my neck etc…

I know …I think thats one of the side effects with all we’ve been through…any little feeling out of the ordinary and we are naturally going to worry about it…but at least we are aware of the changes…so a good thing too!!

Morning all

Brilliant news Theresa, you’ll never moan about a double chin again!! I have a quadruple one if I fall asleep sat up…which has been known.

Hello to all the new Riders!

Helen, you must listen to your body as I keep being told, and sleep when it tells you, I have a sleep most afternoons still. I am also waiting for my movement to improve, it’s still vey dead in some areas under the arm and down the back which is weird when it itches in the dead spot!

We’ll all be cheering Sal back in later, another milestone. Hope all the chemo babes and rad chicks are doing okay as well as everyone else of course. Sandra has inspired me to get baking so it’s chocolate sponge today, the home made custard creams sound delicious but a bit difficult I imagine. Love to all,

Di xxxxxxxxxx

Theresa, great news about the ultrasound and good that she told you there & then.

Helen, Di is right about sleeping when you need to; as well as the Arimidex your surgery wasn’t that long ago. I find it difficult to wake up in the mornings and i’m fairly sure that is down to the tamoxifen. I had a cold around Easter time and as it started with a cough I began to worry. I was so relieved when it turned out to be a simple mundane cold!

Linda, I read the Dina Abrinovitch but I have to say that I found empathising with her difficult. Continuing the children/adult book theme, I read the Susan Cooper the Dark is Rising books as an adult and really enjoyed them.

Back to work!

Eliza xx

Hi Eliza…

Just had a phone call off the Nuffield hospital where i am due to have my MRI - and that is booked in for next wednesday afternoon… be interesting to see what that is like compared to my NHS hospital…

Good to hear that you’ve got the MRI appointment. Yes, comparing the two should be interesting.

Well, I’m fully cooked. Whooopie. Thankfully, I’m not experiencing the downer I though I might get - maybe because I was expecting it? We’re off to the pub for a meal and a couple of bevvies tonight to celebrate. Boy, was it hard to get up at 7am this morning! It’s not been a problem until today, but I think it’s caught up with me. I haven’t really been feeling tired at all since recovering from tamoxifen, but it hit me at lunchtime today.

Great news on the ultrasound Theresa and not long to wait for the MRI either. I’ve had trouble with my ears since surgery. Mine feel like yours do. I spoke to my GP about it and she said it looked as if I had some fluid in the inner ear. She suggested a couple of things but they haven’t worked, so I’m going to have to contact her so she can refer me to ENT. Bl**dy hospitals - thought I’d be shot of them after rads.

Jane, I hope your step daughter is ok. My son split with his girlfriend of 7 years a couple of years ago and it’s quite upsetting. She’d become part of the family. He’s got another girlfriend now though, so life goes on…

Gotta go, daughter’s just pulled up outside (with flowers). See you later

Congratulations on finishing, Sal! Have a wonderful evening.

Greast stuff Sal…Have a great evening…can smell the flowers from here!!lovely!always great to celebrate with flowers…a drink or two is nice as well.
Hi Eliza hope your day went well. You will have to bring your silk making skills with you to the bunkhouse! When did you finish your treatment…remind me again what you had.

Congratulations sal…

Whoop whoop! Hats in the air, ticker tape out the windows, Yosemite Sam doing his shoot himself into the air bit! Yeeehaaa! Way to go Sal. Have an excellent time tonight and a huge lie in tomorrow.

It’s great seeing folk starting to head out the end of this active bit. I know there’s a ways to go yet, but it is so good knowing that these darn muds aren’t pulling at all our boots anymore.

Roll on the next Rider. Who is it anyway that hits a milestone? Martina ending chemo, or is it you Mary?

Glad it was the old chin Theresa. You can’t beat a wobbly bit for throwing the docs off, and I’ve got plenty of my own! Good news.

Well done Sal, I expect they’ve cancelled all police leave in anticipation of you whooping it up?!
Big hug
Rosie x

Woo hoo!! A good day all round then - Sal has finished her rads and Theresa has a double chin!!

I’ve done 8 hours work at home today, having spent most of yesterday asleep. That will stand me in good stead for a lighter day tomorrow, as I’m only contracted to do 5 hours so I will carry 3 over to a day when I’m not feeling so chipper. Felt fine today, except for eyes being a bit stingy and watery.

Onwards & upwards

Way to go Sal. Have a good night out with your familly. Step daughter is doing ok, it was a mutual decision but its still upsetting for her.

I bet you’ve never been so happy to be told you have a double chin, Theresa hehehehe. Great news!

Gen, glad your feeling chipper today but don’t work so hard. Now you’ve put the hours in have a rest tomorrow and pamper yourself.

Helen, like everyone says sleep when you need to and be good to yourself. On the tummy front, did you drop a dress size? Or is that just a myth about tummy tuck? OH got letter to ring for another appointment but she will not phone. Says if she finds something, then she will go to quacks. I say, shes bloody quackers but am fed up arguing about it and me putting pressure on will just make her more determined not to go.

Early night for me. Works medi in the morning. Its my 5yr one so that means I get drug tested. That should be interesting lol, along with hearing test and heart monitor. I’m keeping everything crossed that they will pass me fit to go back driving next week. I’m really missing it, now am back in work.

Yeeha Sal, well done you, hope you have a lovely long lie tomorrow, and three cheers for your chin Theresa, glad that is all it was.

Hope you enjoyed your choc sponge Di, will send you the recipe for custard creams, they are easy peasy, a total squoosh ooh and they only work out at 4p each to make…just think of the mark up I’m going to make on them ! lol .

Sandra x

Sounds just scrummy Sandra…remember the stormriders when you’ve made your first million…lol ;-)heheheh
Hope your night was exceptional Sal…whoopee!

Jane…it is in effect a tummy tuck, because all the fat is used for the breast…sounds yukky eh! The scar is from one hip bone right across to the other, so he used what fat was there. I already had a scar there though from the 2 cesareans, so no big deal. I lost some weight before I went in to hospital and while I was in, so my appetite isn’t as big now anyway. OH says I lost weight from bum and legs too…but definitely from tummy. So I still wear the same jeans, they just tend to fall down a bit. Just a drastic way to have a tummy tuck eh! heheheehe!!!

Hi ros hope your kicking some of your chemo se in to touch!!
Martina and Nikki…hope you are still recovering from op and chemo ok. Only one more for you now isn’t it Martina…way to go.

I’m watching the Sopranos…had it bought for my birthday…so wading through the 1st series…never seen it before, but like the Godfather so thought this would be ok.

Oh forgot to say…I’ve got my little pink phone…neat little number, but still figuring how to work it…getting there…now if I press this little button, what happens…oh no…aaaaaaggggrrhhh!!

Ha…only kidding!!!
nighty night all
I will get up whenever I feel like tomorrow…good advice all.
Helenxxx

Gwyneth.

Make that appointment. Win/Win. Yes? You know it makes sense.

Morning all

Sunny day here so up with the lark, which probably means I’ll be asleep by 10 but hey the birds are singing so I’m enjoying the good days while I can.

Enjoy a lie in today Sal…you’ve earned it! Good luck with your medical today Jane and to anyone else having stuff done, I’ve lost track a bit. Di xx

Morning everyone…

I woke in the night with a tickly cough and then couldn’t get back to sleep for ages - so of course now i am tired… might have a rest later…

Theresa

Morning all. Not sunny here, Di, but hopefully it will improve. Hope it is good for the weekend because I have a living history event over in Essex.

A rest later sounds good, Theresa! Good to hear that you had more energy yesterday, Gennie and are now in “work credit”.

Good luck for the medical, Jane. Gwyneth, I can understand that this isn’t the greatest time for you to have your first mammogram but in the long term both you and Jane will worry a lot less if you have it. You could try explaining a bit (possibly to GP) and ask if your appointment can be postponed to a few months time. That way, Jane will be further out from treatment and life will be on a bit more of an even keel. The odds are that everything will be normal, but knowing that will be reassuring for you both - and if Jane is anything like me, every bit of reassurance helps these days!

Helen, my op was in late November - lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy - and I had rads in Feb/March. Post treatment check-up late April and I’m now on 6 monthly checks. Taking tamoxifen since mid January. Hope you have a good day and remember not to push yourself too hard.

Sal, enjoy the freedom!!!

Hope everyone’s days go well; hugs to those feeling fragile.

Eliza xx
