Send some of that rain this way Sandra. We had a little rain over night, but now it’s scorching and my water butts (all 7 of them) are running dry fast. Thanks for the sponsorship by the way:D
Sorry you’re feeling crap Gennie. And yes, you’re entitled to feel grumpy.
Mary, I think most people feel the way you do at some stage after the end of a treatment. Did you read that article by Dr Peter Harvey? It makes sense of the whole thing, which helps a bit I think. It’ll be good to have a night out with the girls though.
Glad you had a good day Linda. You sound much brighter, so it’s obviously done you good.
Fish and chips - mmmmmm. But, I’ve got to use stuff from the garden at the moment, so every meal is “whatever you like, as long as it’s got lettuce or mangetout with it” Looks like we’ll get the first couple of courgettes this weekend too.
I applied for a couple of jobs today. Not really what I want, but beggars can’t be chosers as they say.
I’m off to the village gardening club this evening (very Vicar of Diblyish) and we’ll probably stop at the pub on the way home. We have to pass it, and it would be rude not to go in, wouldn’t it?
Hi… Sal good luck with the job hunting…and I loved the vicar of dibley…what a character!! Eliza have a good weekend and you too Mary!
All those feeling fragile…loadsa {{hugs}}…Sheila hope recovery is still going well for you!
Gonna pack a few things for the caravan, nothing grand. Will have loadsa catch up chat to do when I get back…come on Lightning!!
OOOOpppps …noooooo don’t you dare run away again!!!
(flipping horse!!)
Ditto on what Helen said Gen and Mary. I’m sitting here terrified to breath in case I breath in something that shoves me under the threshold for next week’s dose, or lands me in A&E, but I know in a couple of months I can get back to normal and go around eating bacteria laden cheese (can’t wait and I’m going to leave it in the sun for hours and hours first too!), eating off the floor, not blow torching the toilet every time I use it (it’s starting to feel a tad rough on the old tender bits I have to say - should perhaps turn the blow torch down a bit), and generally taking huge whuffing sniffs of anything I like. But for now…
It’ll dwindle away into some kind of perspective in due course gals. One day we will look back on this and laugh. Har, har, de har we’ll all go, what a bunch we were. Yuk, Yuk, and Chortle, what an experience! Well, we can hope… We’ll certainly make a fine start in November.
Chins up (in my case that’s quite a haul!).
Now, where’s that delightful aroma of fresh frying fish coming from. Steel’s nose leads her back to the Old One’s place, and she just manages to jump out the way in time as Lightening hot foots it past on his way to the fresh grass and Yorkie comes legging it along as fast as she can, shaking a fist and swearing she’ll see that horse as far as…
Small chapterette or two coming up this weekend folks.
Sorry to hear some of you are under the weather with colds - the Midlands was nearly under water earlier, just as I drove home from work. That’s the first week sorted, but it wasn’t exactly strenuous - stuff has been waiting since April to go on the stock system, and the gaffer isn’t hassling me to do anything quickly.I was absolutely shattered whenn I got home and slept for 1 1/2 hours.
Next week will be the yardstick, as I’ve got chemo on Tuesday, and I will have to see which days I can manage afterwards.
Have a nice weekend everyone in spite of the rain - Ros.
Well done Ros! Strenuous or not, that’s a week at work while on chemo. Way to go! Take it real easy next week.
This first dose of the round is going ok so far Mary, thanks. Napped several times today and felt like I wasn’t quite on planet, but I think it’s clearing. Oooo, just saw a weasel run past the window. Wonder what it was chasing. Better not be the chickens, sneaky little critter!
Carole I really love the new photo-I think the word is gamine!I actually liked mine best at the Judi Dench stage efore it got all wispy and uncontrollable
Have to say, now I’ve seen Lady Gaga, Ting Tings, Little Boots - it’s a whole new world, …!!Think need to be at least 30 years younger to get them.
But then - The Specials! - fab! Even did a bit of dancing round the living room (by myself, apart from the cats - they did look a bit worried!) Oooooohhh, brought it all back!
Is it me - or does so much “new” music sound like something we’ve heard before? - Band just on - The Fleet Foxes - very nice sound, but,…it’s Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young revisited! Haven’t worked out The Ting Tings roots yet though…
And mighty tasty the fish was too. Mr Weasel is now lounging back against a fence post, tiny straw hat on his head, feet crossed in front of him, little pot belly, picking his teeth with a trout bone.
Thanks Val! Judi Dench next, then I think I’ll be heading for Demi Moore in Ghost, Audrey in Roman Holiday, , then I’ve got my eye on one of Anne Bankcroft’s shortish bobs. Of course this is going to take the best part of a year, but patience is a virtue.
Glastonbury. Went there once. Got very, very wet. Maybe next time the cats’ll join in. My dogs look confused when I’m jigging about, then they try and join in. Not easy to dance with a Rottie leaping around you and a poodle bouncing up and down on her back legs in front of you.
I doubt there’s much new at all. Everything is recycled, music, fashion, food fads, politics, etc. The last period approximating to a real “new” in my view was the 50s/60s, and that really only pertained to views on society and behaviour and technological development. If you poke around a bit (particularly in fashion) there were still a lot of influences from the early 20th and before. Rock 'n Roll, The Beatles, they were supposed to be new musically, but in the end they were still influenced and using those influences to tweak the sound. I don’t think it’s easy to create something genuinely, completely new any more. We’ve been around so long, there’s only so many notes you can work with.
And, Gadzooks - what’s a Ting Ting when it’s at home?!
Didn’t rate Fleet Foxes at all last night but at least The View had a bit of life.Specials were a class above most but still hit a few bum notes.Bring back AC/DC ! Is it me or does it seem that the bigger name bands ( Killers, Razorlight etc ) aren’t there this year ? Wonder why ?
Went to see B.B.King on Thursday night in Brum - if anyone is thinking of going to one of his gigs, don’t bother - he justs sits there and talks through his life story while his big band do most of the playing. A real rip-off - I left after an hour and so did several others.
Morning all, just dragging myself out of the canyon…what a way I fell this time. Every side effect going I think and breathless all the time…grrrrrrr!
Anyway I can see I have a good hour or so’s reading to catch up on what you’ve all been up to, hope everyone is doing well - no wild parties without me I hope:-) - hugs to all and will catch up later,
Morning!
Glad you’re emerging from the canyon, Di.
Yep, you and me both, Theresa - nicely positioned on the East coast for the cloud cover! - really warm and muggy, don’t think the sun will get through much.
Hope everyone is OK, Helen should be on the way to the caravan by now, really looking forwards to our SR rendevous!
Di - was wondering how you were getting on - glad you’ve climbed out the canyon and you’re on the way back up - yahhhhhh, its bloomin’ hard going eh?! How many is that you have under your belt now? I do know deep in my head somewhere but can’t just get the info out yet…doh…Carole - have we a storm weasel now - I can just see him now in a pair of dungarees with checked shirt under…or is that Speedy Gonzalez I’ve got in my head?? mary x
Theresa, have a good break & weekend and everybody else too…
Hi All - Haven’t posted here fr a while, but feeling a bit fed up. 4 days post number 7 chemo (tax) and feeling yuk, achey muscles, hot feet, no appetite and oral thrush again! Wish I could forget about it all for while. Hoping to go away for 3 days with OH next week-end, so I’m clinging on to that nice thought. Sorry for the moan, but I know you’ve all been here.
Hi Clare - the tax is horrible isn’t it - not that any chemo is nice of course - I’m now day 10 after my final tax and the relief is brilliant knowing that I have had the last one…by next weekend you should be well past all this crappiness and enjoying your break!! Then you have 1 more?? Did you have the belly jabs too? mary x
Di and Clare - sorry the tax is being so horrid to you… awful stuff isn’t it…?
I’ve been reading a book the last few days and i think some of you may like it… Remember we were talking about Anne Rice and the witches books…? Well this is a bit similar… it’s called The lost book of Salem by Katherine Howe
Got my antibiotics yesterday, they do seem to be helping a bit so when they say antibis won’t help a cold it’s not true it seems. I know they don’t help with the initial virus, but once you get to the green gooey phase that’s bacterial and they do seem to make it a bit easier. Sorry if that’s tmi lol. Slight bit of worry when I read the leaflet that said not to take penicillin if you are taking methotrexate (which, of course, is the M in CMF) as it can cause the M to get to toxic levels. Gah!! Eventually ascertained that as I was 48 hours clear of the chemo it was ok. Fingers crossed… Feeling tired & woozy today, sort of floating above the planet like a helium balloon lol. Not a bad way to be I guess!
Sorry you are having a rotten time Di & Clare, this chemo lark is no joke is it? I just can’t wait to get to the other side of it and feel normal for more than a day at at time.
Theresa - looks like a another order for the mobile library for me! Don’t know what I’d do without books.
Lady GaGa is supporting Take That at Wembley when I go to see them next weekend. Disappointingly. I can’t stand her, but James Morrisson has supported other gigs with them and I quite like him. I wouldn’t know a Ting Ting if she ran over me, but I do know one of their songs. Very irritating it is too…
