I was diagnosed with a tiny IDC 6 weeks ago and waiting surgery. Did anyone else suddenly become grossly aware of their affected breast? Sometimes it feels like mines almost vibrating and can get sharpish pains in and around it like a trapped nerve. The more I wait the more I’m like god is this a lot worse than they first said … finding it weird how much I’m like yes let’s get this mega 12 hour surgery underway (DMX and DIEP) for gene mutation… does weird things to you brain! Genuinely worried about spread - they said IDC but when I got my biopsy it said micro papillary features so head already spinning about increased risk of spread even with small tumours. Is any of this normal? Also it’ll be just shy of 8 weeks from diagnosis to surgery but they’ve said in the UK that I’m still in target but I’m now questioning whether I’ve made the right decision
Honestly my breasts have all sorts of sensations all of the time. Mine have always been hormonally sensitive to my menstrual cycle, contraception, pregnancy, perimenopause and HRT. I knew I was pregnant before I could do a test due to my breasts.
They change size then sometime ping or ache. I’m really pleased I had an MRI as my non cancerous breast seems to be sympathising with the cancerous one having treatment and I’d be certain that there was cancer there too if it wasn’t for that.
I can’t say if it’s normal but for me it is and when you’re in a state of high alert already you’re going to overanalyse everything.
Worrying won’t fix anything so try not to.
@strudderz I was diagnosed with BC 2 years ago after finding a large lump in my armpit. I saw the GP the same day and he found a 3-4 cm lump in the breast that I hadn’t noticed 
Once I knew it was there it was like I had a basketball in my chest!! I had a CT scan about 3 weeks later and by that time I had convinced myself that it had spread to every single cell in my body 
CT scan showed the breast lump and the armpit lump and nothing else.
Our brains do very weird things and everything you feel is normal. I hope you have your surgery soon and then at least you know that it’ gone.

Stress and anxiety are common after a breast cancer diagnosis. It’s understandable you feel worried whilst awaiting your breast surgery. We hear from many people who tell us they experience different sensations in the breast, and this can become heightened after a diagnosis.

If you haven’t already it can be helpful to speak to your breast care nurse or treatment team about how you’re feeling. They can discuss your diagnosis with you in detail and ways to support you. You can also contact your GP about this as they can discuss local support available.
Talking to someone who has had a similar experience can often be helpful. Our Someone Like Me service can match you with a trained volunteer who’s had a similar experience to you. You can be in touch with your volunteer by phone or email and they can share their personal experiences to help answer your questions, offer support and listen to how you are feeling.
We offer a range of free supportive services which you may be interested in. They include face to face and online courses and events.
