I am worried as a few days ago my operated breast become sore, uncomfortable & tight with the odd jabbing pain. It feels swollen but doesn’t look it. It also feels hotter than the other side. I had a WLE & SNB 7 months ago & was OK until now. I’m concerned it may be the start of lymphodeoma. I started the GP exercise referral programme a month ago, i have been on the machines which exercise the arms but only with light weight, could it be due to this? Anyone else had similar? Should I wait & see if it improves? I don’t want to bother my GP unnecessarily.

Hello Welsh lady from a fellow Welshwoman. I too had breast cancer surgery, WLE and SLNB a year ago and all was well. Radiotherapy treatment followed and now I’m on Anastrazole for 5 years. I still experience tenderness and stabbing pains in the breast, sometimes it feels heavy and swollen and sometimes not. As far as I know there is no lymphodema. I have my first annual follow up appointment with the cancer surgeon next Monday. I will ask him about the symptoms, and will keep you posted if you would like.
I wonder whether your discomfort is down to tired muscles from exercise. You could speak to your breast care nurse if you don’t want to bother your GP.
Take care. Hwyl am nawr.

Thank you so much for the reply. Hope your appointment goes well, let me know how you get on. X
Hello from a not Welsh lady but definitely a fellow sufferer of twinges! I had a really helpful call with my BC nurse. I’m almost 5 months post end of rads and have only just started to feel horrible stabbing pains. She told me it’s nerves knitting together and may go on for a few months yet. We had a bit of a discussion on the progesterone and fluffy cake thread and worked out we were all struggling with the same symptoms and all our BC nurses had said the same thing! I was advised to take paracetamol before bed to stop being woken up, which seems to be working.
Hi welsh lady. I had WLE in september, cavity shave in october the 15 lots of dio that finished at the endcof december. Some days my breast feels almost normal, other days it feels swollen and sore. I get shooting pains and tenderness. I phoned my bcn who said its the nerves healing. I also went back in to the cl8nic for reassurance and my consuktant said scar tissue also causes twinges and pain. The bcn told me if paracetamol doesnt work to see my gp for painkillers for nerve pain. I havent needed them yet though. I hope you feel better soon xxx
Thank you both so much for your replies. On the advice of the breast care nurse I saw my gp who is going to refer me back to the hospital as she thinks I have an infection so on antibiotics & ibuprofen now. I have to go back to my gp next week.
Poor you. I hope you’re soon on the mend xx
