Summer tops

Having had a mx and the warmer weather is here I am getting rather
twitchy about wearing tops that are a little low especially
if you have to bend. Is there an adhesive strip that can be worn
that just holds the bra to the skin?? Because no matter how well
the bra fits I am very aware that the bra might move and the
scar is visible. Is it me or I am just becoming paranoid about it?

Hi Pat,

No you aren’t paranoid at all! I hate the fact that even with an mx bra there are a lot of summery things that don’t work, either because they don’t hide scarring or because there’s a gap between you and the prosthesis.

I tend to wear strappy tee shirts and cotton camisoles under anything that leaves too much on show and I’ve just ordered one of these to see if they help:

Definately not paranoid! I find things that look ok when I’m stood up don’t pass the bending over test! As soon as I can (has to be 6 months post op in our area) I’m going to try out a contact prosthesis to see if that helps. I wear a camisole top under some things if they are a bit low.
The inserts are a good idea but I wish they’s make non-lacy ones out of T-shirt material, the lace ones seem, to me, to scream out ‘I’ve had a mastectomy’!

Have you tries toupe tape.My daughter in law uses it to keep her skimpy dresses in place, and she gave me some to keep my wig on.
Got more from the macmillan shop, but you can get in online.Comes in a roll like sellotape.
I have not had a mx, but understand your problem as friends at my support group have feel just the same.

there is something called lingerie tape, but that might not be for sticking things to the skin. I know when my daugher was getting married the wedding dress shop had something

rossco, i dont know how well endowed u r, but i wear a bandeau bra…they are like a large hairband, for want of a better description, but they are all lycra, and hug your skin…they are very comfy. silicone prosthesis are a little heavy though, especiall y larger ones…i wass 44d before double mx, so i tend to wear softies, as ifind them more comfy, anyway
