I am 5 weeks post op mastectomy, reconstruction with expander and had all nodes removed even though 1 was only effected, now I have a constant pain like very bad sunburn where my clothes rub off it. Anyone experience this? And what can I do to improve it, is there anything I can rub to it, or take. I’m worried will it be like this long term, I don’t think I could cope with that !
I experienced the same after the same procedure as you. It was horrible and I felt worn down. Didn’t want to move my arm as the pain was horrible. The good news is that I felt I turned a noticeable corner at 6/7 weeks and everything started to improve. I am now 10 months post mx and clearance and am noticing the feeling returning to the back of my arm where it was numb for months. I think the ‘sunburn’ pain is nerves recovering from the trauma of the op. Things will improve (and relatively soon) so hang in there and keep doing the exercises even though you might not feel like it. X
Really helpful to know. I am 12 days post bilateral mx , already had SNB previous.mand I am really struggling this week. So uncomfortable, look awful, no energy and can’t seem to do anything. It’s getting me down and it’s great to know that things will improve ,I’m guess it’s early days !
I had the same pain down my left arm after masectomy, node clearance and reconstruction. I moisturised with unperumed lotion. I don’t know when it went but it did, I’m about 11 weeks post op and have most of me feeling back. The pain just disappeared!
Had mine done on Monday, today is day 6, and it’s my shoulder and down to just above my elbow, not pleasant at all x
Had my mastectomy and lymph nodes removed 5 Dec - yesterday the burning sensation started under my arm and it is not nice! It gets to the point where you dont want to move because of the burning sensation. Have an appointment with the breast care team tomorrow but really not sure if there is anything that will relieve the burning sensation. Does anybody know what might relieve the feeling or is a time issue? x
I had all my nodes removed on 5th Dec after sentinel node biopsy showed 2 of 3 infected. I have the horrible sunburn feeling but if its any consolation to you all the nurse told me today its totally normal and will get better, hang on in there girls xx
I has sentinel nodes removed on October 27th. I also had horrid burning and raw nerve sensations down arm the only thing that relieved it was holding or squeezing my arm. The pain and sensations have almost completley gone now, somyou will get there.
Just getting over bilateral mx now which I had done 28 November
It will pass girls, hang on in there
