My lumpectomy was booked for 23rd Jan, yesterday I had my magseed inserted and I am still waiting for results of HER2. Now I am panicking that when they did the ultrasound it’s either grown significatly or my HER2 has come back positive and that’s why they have brought me forward by over 3 weeks? I now have less than a week to get organised!!!

Hi @mandyo - this sounds stressful. The reason may be fairly benign (some hospitals release their theatre availability closer to date and perhaps your surgeon has just booked you in to use the free slot). It is best just to ask your surgeon or their nurse for the reason once Christmas is over.

I believe they would have told you if things changed in your diagnosis.
Having worked as a manager in nhs for many years, this happened often…
consultant cancels study day or leave, extra lists put on to meet targets, patient cancels due to going private, hospital cancels patient as they have had covid recently and need recovery time, need more investigations…
I’m sure your team can give you reassurance.
Getting earlier slot can be good, but not for everyone. Speak to your team if you don’t feel ready…

Hi, it probably related to theatre lists, slots and surgeons availability. It so much better to get on with it and not wait. Don’t panic, see it as positive. The sooner it is done, you can move on a bit. Best wishes.

Thanks everyone, I have accepted the new date and now I will have a fresh start for 2025, 2024 has been a stressful year and my diagnosis was the last straw - good riddance!
