Surgery - Day 1 of kicking cancers behind

So today I had my surgery for lumpectomy/removal of lympf nodes and reconstruction. Since I was told about my breast cancer I have been so nervous about my treatment yet today I woke feeling very calm after a decent nights sleep. I honestly didn’t expect that. Think shock has eased and my fighting spirit kicked in. Ok I have early stage and good outcome so this has helped me through also.

I can’t praise my local hospital and surgeon enough. They were so good today and treated me like I was only patient there even though they were run off their feet. Im sitting here sore and tired but thankful that’s first part of recovery over. I have two weeks till I see surgeon again and find out results of what was found in lympf nodes. This will determine if I need chemo before my radiotherapy (so far no signs my cancer has spread) so im keeping fingers n toes crossed.

Hi Leeanne,

Hope that you managed to have a comfortable night and get some sleep. It’s a huge feeling of relief to have the surgery over and done with. Make sure that you have plenty of rest and keep up with the painkillers now. Listen to your body and sleep when you need to, the anaesthetic can take its toll as well as the surgery.  Are you in hospital still?

Best wishes for your recovery. Be sure to take things easy. Fingers crossed too for your results. Let us know how you get on. Sending you a gentle hug xx
