Took a very slow walk down to the beach and back this morning. It was lovely to get the fresh air but my legs felt like jelly and it was only a few hundred yards . I struggled with the sympathetic looks as I shuffled along …. Back on the sofa now to recover think my walking trips out into the hills will be off for a while. Letter came this morning for my results appointment, 2 weeks today 22nd February. Both my daughter’s are coming with me as my husband just cries and I get annoyed . They are both Primary School Teachers so no nonsense with them I have also signed up for a Maggie’s 6 week course Living with Stress , first session on the 13th February. Onwards and Upwards !
Well done it took me a few days to be able to walk a reasonable distance so you have done well . Rest up - it’s nasty weather anyway .
Xx
Me too @JoanneN - I was also impressed with @llanwinno123
I could hardly walk down the road for a couple of weeks!
Hi @llanwinno123. Good to hear you are feeling brighter. I’m 2 weeks after surgery now and feel great, but like you, first few days were harder. Just do your exercises, rest and get a small walk in. You are extremely lucky to get your results appointment so fast! Mine is 6 weeks from surgery. So at least you havent got to wait too long. Keep resting andctake it easy! X
Think I overdid it today a little today even though my walk was only a couple of hundred yards … feeling really nauseous and weak all afternoon , complete loss of appetite which is not helping ( is that normal? )
It can happen. You have possibly overdone it a bit it sounds like fatigue which is tiredness that doesn’t improve with rest - the anaesthetic won’t have properly passed through your system yet and it sounds like you were a bit sensitive to it anyway . Your BP might be a bit lower than normal . Just take it easy and drink plenty of water in case you’re a bit dehydrated . Anything with ginger in It is good for nausea as is Coca Cola ( other brands are available ! ) and peppermint tea. If you don’t want a meal have a piece of toast or a plain biscuit just to keep your energy levels up a bit.
I’ve had problems with my vision and vertigo in the past and I felt weak and wobbly for about a week afterwards .I did go for short walks but I was careful. However I had a hysteroscopy a few years ago and was the same then so I knew what to expect.
Feel better and if someone wants to spoil you then let them . My partner didn’t even want me to make my own cup of tea the first morning and I told him not to be so daft . I should probably have let him wait on me hand and foot and see how long it took him to realise I was messing with him !
Xx
Took your advice @JoanneN and feeling much better today . The odd piece of toast or biscuit does make a difference and helps with the nausea.
I can see my wound clearly as I can’t have a waterproof dressing due to allergy . It looks as if the surgeon has managed to get both tumours out through one incision rather than two. Not a pretty sight with large dent in my breast but a small price to pay … onwards and upwards
@llanwinno123 glad to hear you feel better. Don’t worry about the wound…you will be amazed how it looks in 2 weeks! Mine look like a couple of cat scratches now! And the dent has eased too. I too over did it first few days, but you do need to rest a bit more than you think. For me, I had little pain, so tried to do normal activities but it exhausted me. 2 weeks on, I feel good. Enjoy some tv and cosy blanket time. X
About 3 weeks after surgery I thought I was fine and was trying to walk around normally but I tripped and fell really heavily and hurt my shoulder on the opposite side which has been a problem ever since so be careful . Allow yourself Moore time to do the GS. I’ve walked up at that road a hundred times before and since without tripping but I’ve always been a last minute person and was trying to rush and not taking account of the fact that I was probably still not quite back to normal. xx
I meant more time to do things than normal ! Xx
