Hi
I’ve almost finished chemo (2 more weeklies to go) and just got my date for surgery.
I found the monthly chemo threads useful and wondered if anyone else due for a mastectomy in December?

Hi,
I’m scheduled for my Mastectomy on 7 December. I was originally planned in for 2 November but have a holiday booked on 24 November I really wanted to go on so, with my surgeons blessing, I’ve chosen to delay.
Also having an implant reconstruction the same day and will need a reduction on the other side at some point.
Been feeling really positive about it all but due to finish work this Saturday ( to use up holiday before I go sick ) and suddenly it’s all feeling very real and very emotional.
hope you’re doing ok

Hi Melanie,
I can’t have reconstruction yet due to radiotherapy afterwards. Really wish I could! Holiday sounds good. I’ve been off since September. Very lucky to get 6 months off and the drs said low immune system and teaching don’t go very well together! Ha

Becky,
Can understand teaching and a low immune system not being a good match, I work in a supermarket and have been side stepping every sniffling customer so can imagine how I’d be with kids ???.
Must admit, if you can be pleased about what we are going through, I’m pleased I’m having my reconstruction at the same time. I am only having an implant as I didn’t want the additional surgery entailed with moving a muscle but I am worried how small it might look until the reduction is done on the other side. Guess it will be an incentive to loose some weight and try to reduce it myself. Mind must admit I was an e cup even when I was a size 10 ( oh for those days ! ).
Finished work yesterday as I’ve 3 weeks holiday to use up before I go sick. That was an emotional day. My business have had to bring someone in to cover me so we had no choice but to tell everyone I’m off for medical reasons. It was so tempting to tell them I was finishing my gender realignment surgery and becoming a full woman but in the end I elected to tell them the truth. OMG everyone’s an expert once they know what’s wrong with you aren’t they.
Do you still have 2 more chemo to go ? Hope that’s bearable and not too challenging for you.
New Years eves an interesting day to have your surgery, my diagnosis was on our wedding anniversary like you not quite what I had planned.
Hope you’re feeling ok, stay strong xx Melanie
Hi Melanie,
Hope you are using your holidays wisely! ? Friday is my last chemo! I cannot get to Friday quick enough.
I so wish I could have reconstruction at the same time but I’ve got radiotherapy after and have been advised against it. I’ve not come this far to mess things up so taking the advice.
Hope you are feeling ok.

Hi Melanie,
Thanks for that. Treatment done! 5 months worth over.
My family threw me a little party, which was lovely.
2 weeks will fly! Fingers and everything crossed for you.
