Surgery today

Hi lovely group

I’ve just had my lumpectomy today for a stage 1/ Grade 1 invasive ductal Tumor and the surgeon said it weighed 15g when he removed it! Who knew it would be weighed!

I’m just looking for some good advice on things to take my mind off worrying for two weeks until I get the results! I am hoping for the best news as it’s early stage, but just can’t stop the worrying.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @byrne  Glad to hear you’re home and it sounds like you’re feeling ok in yourself . I’m a health care professional as well as a patient and I can tell you that it’s normal to weigh every lump if that makes you feel any better.

I would say build up your strength with short walks and do the post- surgery exercises .

If you can use some of the time to catch up with people you want to see but don’t get to see very often . I saw two old friends , there was so much to catch up up on that the time just flew. My friend who had her op a couple of months after me was afraid of getting her dressing wet and treated herself to a cut / wash/ blow dry .

If there’s someone in your life that wants to spoil you a bit let them . Don’t be tempted to overuse google or social media and if you do get anxious make sure you aren’t having too much caffeine . If you’re a bit tired physically but your mind is overactive I’d recommend a good audiobook.

Maybe give yourself a few small tasks which will help going forward - nothing too serious . Order a couple of different post - surgery bras or crop tops to try . Sort out your handbag , so that you aren’t lugging too much weight about ( I changed mine for one 1/4 of the size of the old one - much more practical  ) .

It’s surprising how quickly it passes actually . Take care
