Survivorship

Hi I am Emma, a mum, and wife and a breast cancer survivor of 8.5 years. I was diagnosed at the age of 37 with DCIS HER2+, had 8 chemo cycles, Herceptin, 2 x surgery and Radiotherapy. In survivorship I have decided to embark on a career change, with the ambition to support others with their mental health. I am currently doing a Psychology MSc (which has been a steep learning curve as have never studied it before and been out of education for a long time!). I am now at the point of doing my dissertation, the topic of which has been heavily influenced by my cancer journey as it looks at the relationship between personality and meaning-making after a breast cancer diagnosis, with the ambition to understand risk factors and inform survivorship support. To participate you must be 5 years or more since diagnosis, live in the UK, be fluent in English, age 18+. If you or anyone you know are able and willing to participate I would be so grateful, the link is below;

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and gain an insight into how I continue to survive breast cancer. Emma x

@emis i can’t participate as I’m less than a year post diagnosis but I wholeheartedly applaud what you’re doing and wish you all the best. We need people to tell their stories and get positives from all of this. Good luck with the research and the future :heart:

I have answered your questionnaire as it is nearly 7 years since my diagnosis and surgery etc. I do hope that eventually all the results will be published on the forum, although I realise it will take some time before this could happen. I wish You good luck with your dissertation.

Thank you so much @sunshine21. I am not sure if am allowed to post the analysis and write up on the forum. I can email you a copy of the finished report, which will hopefully be available in June, if all elements go to plan. Thank you Emma.

@sam1204 Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I agree I strongly believe that the more voices are heard the better the support and care can be in the future. Wishing you strength in survivorship.

Completely understand you may not be able to publish it on the forum Emma. Good luck with your studies.
