Suspicious Microcalcifications 3rd time in 3 years. Seems never ending!

Hi, me again! I had incisional surgery in January (abroad) where they removed a quarter of my breast because of suspicious microcalcifications. This was after having a steriotatic biopsy in Nov 2015 for the same thing.
I’m now back in UK and had a routine followup mammogram where again suspicious microcalcifications were found. So I’ve been booked in for 9am Monday morning for a steriotatic biopsy. It’s feels like ground hog day. I would rather have the biopsy and be safe than sorry by disappointed that the quadrantectomy in January hasn’t seem to have resolved anything.

Hello to all of you who may remember me from earlier this year (Ladybowler for instance) and I hope your treatment has been going according to plan.

Hello and I do remember you xxx

Sorry to hear that you are going through all of this again mate, so frustrating for you.  I know what you mean about having the biopsy, I had to have a second set before I was diagnosed because the first lot came back inconclusive and they did not want to send me away without being absolutely sure.

I am doing well, finished active treatment in January of this year.  I am on tamoxifen for 10 years and having some side effects but they are bearable.  Been back at work doing my normal hours since February this year (25 per week).  I have my first mammo in March next year so that will probably be a bit of a scary time, but then with all the wonderful support on here I know I will get through it.

Sending you a hug and the tough pants for Monday.  Let us know how you get on

Hi, glad to hear you are getting on OK and back at work. A bit of normality must help. I’ll let you know how I get on. Great that you continue to support everyone here!!

Speak soon

Thank you Helena. I’ll let you know how Monday goes. X

Hi all went OK this morning. Lots of samples taken, not painful at the time and I’m only just beginning to feel something now several hours after. I’ve been resting up as instructed!!
I’m pleased to say that the procedure was much easier here than previously in Spain due to the fact that in Spain you are lying down and here you are sitting down. It was much easier for them to get the correct positioning of the upper outer quadrant in the machine!
Results next Monday, if all ok I will go back into the screening programme whereas in spain i would have been at least yearly for another 1 or 2 years.

Quite frankly ill be happy to get back into screening, it’s been 3 years on the trot so far and I really don’t want to go through this next year again.
So fingers crossed the results are benign, I’m sure they will be.

Xx

The consultant called, she said the core biopsy results are inconclusive and they need to get more tissue so I need to have a vacuum assisted biopsy.
This is what I started off with in Spain almost exactly 2 years ago and then ofcourse ended up having surgery in January…
I guess I’ll get a call soon with the date.
Hopefully I can still get an answer either way by Xmas. It would be nice not to have a cliff hanger Xmas 3 years on the trot!!

Not long to wait, I’m going tmw morning. Will be glad to get it out if the way. At least I know what to expect. X

Wrote that last night!!! I’m in the waiting room now. Billy no mates as new to the area and hubby in spain with one son and I’m here with the other son! (That’s another story!!) x

Just realised you replied last night and today is 28th!!! Must be nerves!!

Hi, Hope your eye check up went OK.
So, the consultant came into speak to me before the procedure. She said last week’s biopsy showed a few atypical cells aswell as the microcalcifications and they needed a larger sample to assess it all properly and decide what to do next, she confirmed that spain were right in my case to have been monitoring me yearly.

The procedure was OK but they couldn’t get an ideal amount of cells due to awkward positioning so they put in a marker incase further intervention is required. Just had one of those removed during January’s surgery!!

So now it’s back into the waiting room until Monday morning. They already scheduled an appointment with the consultant.
I did get that sinking feeling that my luck was running out whilst she was explaining everything but I’m happy that everything possible is being done and if it is something now or in the future it will have been caught early. She said that my type of case does need regular monitoring so Spain were right with what they were doing. Good job the referral was done here by my GP when I explained what had happened to date and that spain wanted a post surgery mammogram.

Very happy with the level of care. Nightingales Centre at Wythenshawe Hospital… Excellent so far… Xx

That’s good news Helena, a tick in the box.

Yep, I’ll let you know the result. Speak soon. Xx

Hi Liz, many thanks for your comments. Yes I have been very impressed so far with Nightingales, very organised and super friendly staff. I’ve been going on my own and because of their friendlinesd and professionalism I haven’t really needed anyone with me. I hope you are OK and progressing well. Thanks again. Xx

Hi, I’m OK for another year, Lobular Neoplasia and microcalcifications. So go back next October to check if any changes. So I guess I just nerd to put it out of my head again for another year.

Liz, I hope you progress OK. Best wishes. X

Helena, I’ll check in again next year and see how you are doing!! Best wishes. X

Merry Christmas to you too. Xxx
