Sussex Get together, Stage 4 - if interested add name ?

Several people have expressed an interest in forming a support group for those of us with metastatic Breast cancer in Sussex. I am happy to host this at my humble abode (I live in Horsted Keynes, near Haywards Heath). Alternatively if it’s more convenient for those in Brighton, one of the BC Nurse’s at Brighton has suggested we could have a room at the Park Centre. They have a League of Friends Tea/Coffee bar there, so we would be OK for refreshments.
Please can those who would like to join us, say so, and I will pm with details and try and organise a time that suits everybody.

Hi Lemongrove
Look forward to meeting with all those interested. If anyone has transport problems I drive, just bear in mind I am new to the area and still finding my way around!

Lucindax

That’s great Lucinda, once we have a few more names, I will try an arrange a time that suits everyone.

Hi Lemongrove and Lucinda,
Glad you are still both up for meeting. Have PM’d a couple of other women who initially showed interest, haven’t heard from them yet but hopefully they’ll see this post and sign up.
Look frward to meeting you soon xx

Bump

Bump - come on girls, lets get together!

Hi,

I am new to the forums and posting, so not sure of the etiquette, but based in Eastbourne and would love to meet up with others in same/ similar situation. Initial diagnosis in July 10, Left mastectomy Aug, no reconstruction, liver and possible bone mets diagnosed in Sept, Chemo and Lapatinib trial started October. Wow - when I look at that written down it’s no wonder I’m knackered!
Happy to travel to meet as I drive, but still got 2 more chemo sessions to go, so will only be able to make it if it con-incides with feeling well! Next chemo tomorrow. Bleurgghh!!

Hello Beachwalker!

Sorry you’ve had to join us but welcome to the forum!

As far as I can see there are 3, thats me, Lemongrove and Lucinda who are definites for meeting. There is also Lollypop girl who you may know as I believe she has treatment in Eastbourne, she wants to meet too but has just had an emergency hip op so will have to see how she gets on before she joins us. There is one other woman I know of who may be interested. Now that we’ve got a few of us perhaps we’ll now actually manage it! Be in touch soon.

Love Julie x

Hi,

Thanks Julie - I will look forward to hearing from you. Can’t tell you how reassuring it is to make contact with others who know what you are going through. Friends, family, BCN all fab - but sometimes you just need to know that ther are others who are in same boat! Took a while to pluck up courage to look on here, but i am so glad that I did!

Hi Beachwalker,
Glad you did pluck-up courage and is good to see you here. I know what you mean, it is somehow comfoering to know there are others who KNOW what you’re going through.
I hope we manage to get something sorted very soon and hopefully on a day you feel up to it!
Speak soon
Julie x

Just bumping - What’s happened to Lollypop girl?

Hello Lemongrove, you recently 'Pm’my wife Laura concerning secondaries. When is your next meeting ? I think it would be good for her to discuss her difficulties with other ladies.I don’t know how you discover all this information as getting any ‘official’ info is like blood and the proverbial stone, best wishes.

Hi Husband 220, I suggest you and your wife contact julie D, as she is organising the next meeting.
Look forward to meeting you both.

hi all
we seem to currently have 2 threads running on this.Latest details on meet up are on the other thread

secondary breast cancer group in Brighton/East Sussex

Dear All
I have contacted Julie and Lollypop girl as would very much like to meet with you all. I live in eastbourne and was diagnosed in June 10 with secondaries at the time in liver. I finished chemo, surgery and ablation but unfortunately have just been back in for more surgery for local recurrence. I now have 5 weeks radiotherapy to start soon. I have four kids, two under 2 1/2 and having a local recurrence so soon is a real setback when I was feeling so good.
I can’t make next meeting as recovering from surgery but please let me know when you meet again so I can join.
Thanks and hope we can all support each other
