Can anyone give me any advice. I have come to the end of my Docetaxel chemo about 3 weeks ago. On Tuesday I had my 4th Herceptin dose. I noticed last night that my one foot was swelling, not badly but quite obviously bigger than the other. I have phoned the chemo nurses and was told to just keep an eye on it and let them know if any pain begins to develope.
I am sure the oncologist mentioned swelling but I cannot remember whether it was relating to the Docetaxel or the Herceptin…Sorry for being so half soaked but I am still suffering with chemo-brain!!
Do go and consult your GP. It may be problems with your lymphatic system draining or something else. I can only speculate.

Hi,
I finished my Chemo in December 2010 as I had a severe reaction to Docataxyl, I ended up in hospital for almost 3 weeks unable to walk due to the pain and swelling in my legs. Since then I have had 25 days of radiotherapy and I am now on Herceptin, having received my 4th treatment this Monday 25th July 2011, unfortunately I suddenly developed the painful legs again and was unable to walk, and consequently had to go by ambulance to hospital. However the oncology team were adament that this was not caused by the Herceptin treatment, suffice to say they said there are NO side effects with Herceptin! I, however beg to differ, my hair has suddenly stopped growing, my nails are so brittle they constantly bleed, I am short of breath and on top af all that i have put on almost a stone in weight in less than a month.
Has anyone else experienced these side effects, particually the leg problem as I am still suffering with the pain and weakness in them.
I would be very interested to hear from anyone suffering with similar symptoms.

Hi Sharon,
There are no side effects with Herceptin? Someone needs retraining.
Try this drugs.com/sfx/herceptin-side-effects.html
If you need more info I can send you a 1 year trial but it is too big to go on here.

Hi Em.
I’m with you on this one, there is definately side effects with Herceptin,. Thanks for the link, I have printed it off and will take with me when I next see my Oncologist. I am on Herceptin for 12 mths so not looking forward to experiencing any further side effects. The Chemo was bad, I thought herceptin would be a walk in the park but my body obviously thinks otherwise.
If anyone else has experienced these side effects I would love to hear from them.
