I want to go to aqua aerobics as its in the warm, good exercise etc. I have bad knees and often walk 3-4 plus miles a day to keep the muscles good as otherwise I will have even more unstable knees. However on all this ice I am having difficulty going anywhere as musnt slip…
I am using an exercise bike but going down to the pool has its attractions. I know we are told to avoid pools due to infection risk if you swallow the water etc but I’m not going to be swimming just jumping around in it…
If I avoid the low point but go otherwise…what do you think?
Does anyone else do this sort of thing?
I go to the pool anyway each week to take my youngest to swimming lessons so Im there anyway…
I learned to swim when I was 6 months post opp and 3 months post rads in a pool which was high in chlorine. My onc was perfectly happy for me to do this.
I now swim in a new pool which is chlorine free, it’s an ozone pool, which I think all the new build ones are. I haven’t had a problem at all with either pool.
I was told by the onc and BCN that swimming is the best exercise for breast cancer patients!
LIF i was told not to go swimming during chemo for risk of infection but did swim on holiday when i was 3 weeks post chemo and awaiting rads but becarefull youre wound is well healed aswell cos chlorine can effect and dry the skin and make it itchy and sore so make sure youre all healed and well rinsed and creamed afterwards x
Thanks Julie good advice!
My scars are fading and almost disappeared into white lines!! Cardiographer was staggered today and thought I was having chemo before surgery…! I keep well creamed all over all the time as have excema!!!
