I’ve just finished chemo and have booked a week’s holiday in april. I’m not expecting much hair to be back by then so want to buy a swimming hat. It’s not something I’ve ever bought before and I haven’t a clue where to get one. I wondered if anyone can point me in the direction of a shop which sells them.
Thanks
Tracey
Not sure about shops but is there a local swimming school near you?
My son has swimming lessons with a local swimming school -we are in Basingstoke Hampshir. The club offers lessons to children and adults and insists that all learners wear swimming hats. They sell swimming hats for £2.50. Maybe there is a school near you that does the same?

The most comfortable ones are made of a kind of lycra fabric, rather than the horrible rubber jobs. I got one from a sports shop, but it is a child’s size! Fits my big head anyway.
I swam throughout chemo (altho some of the nurses were against it cos of infection risk, but my Onc didn’t mind), and used the hat all the time.
Enjoy your holiday

Thanks for your replies ladies. My sons have got those thin rubber ones that they have to wear for their swimming lessons - but they’re an orangey red colour and I think I’ll look like a Swan Vesta if I put one on!
I quite liked the idea of a retro one with big flowers so I could delude myself that I looked like a 1950’s starlet!
I will look into the lycra option, and someone suggested ebay - so I will get it sorted out.

Hi Tracey
I have seen a large selection of swimming hats in Lloyds Pharmacy. Yes they had all the 50’s 60’s retro flowery ones, but I think they are making a comeback as they didn’t look at all old and perished

Topper - thanks for that - I’ll pop into Lloyds today!
